Hope you have great weekend & are faring okay if you are in a place with bad air quality as I am. Strawberries are my favorite fruit, but I have only picked them once in my life. I was in college; I was done after filling one basket, but my friends wanted to stay for hours. Too hot & too backbreaking for me! Have you ever picked strawberries?🍓
May you have a glorious day doing this and that and hearing the birds singing. Many nests in the trees this spring so now I am watching the little birds flying around to and fro. It is so cute to watch is off and on as one is doing their daily duties. Smiles Gloria
Hello friend! June is almost at an end; for many years I taught summer school and only had a break from July 15 to August 25. Can't believe those working summers are a distant memory. 💙
A Happy Friday day to you. My goodness this week just flew by enjoying the moments of life. I am so excited for we should receive some rain showers today and for the next days. Looking forward to splash in some puddles while singing a song and giggling! Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain. ~Author unknown
A glorious Tuesday day to you. Extra warm today so better enjoy some ice tea and or coffee to cool myself and then maybe some refreshing lemonade . Now to find my book and head outside and enjoy the summer breeze for awhile. May you have a very pleasant day. Smiles Gloria
Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you — not because they are nice, but because you are. ~Author unknown
I wasn't aware you worked in dentristy; thank you for sharing that! My niece (who just graduated from the dental hygenist two-year program) has received her "bonafides" and is looking for a job in the Bothell area of Seattle, which is where she wants to settle--at least, for a while. It was good to have her come visit for a couple of days while her Dad was here, too. She went fishing with my hubby and her father and she was the only one to catch a nice salmon--woohoo! What a prize to take back with her, huh?
Sorry your dishwasher is a little on the fritz; I hate having to replace a major appliance of any kind, but none of them last forever and it seems like they last a whole lot less than they used to. "Planned obsolescence" hard at work, I'm afraid. Sad that more pride isn't taken in what is being manufactured--especially the high-dollar items. I hope that when your old machine finally gives up the ghost, that you snag yourself a really good one that will give you plenty of years of excellent service!
I had a little visit to the hospital the other day. It seems my brain needed another break and I had my second episode of transient global amnesia. I sure as heck hope I never have another one, even though it doesn't hurt. It's like part of my brain doesn't wake up or something and I do things that I don't have a memory of. Oh, nothing bizarre...like I had a shower while I was in that state and don't remember doing so. Life is so funny, isn't it? However, it's good to know that my arteries are clear and it wasn't a stroke. Now we just have to wait for the bill(s)...
We are having some really nice weather; breezy, blue skies with a few clouds, and the temperature right now at 8:30 in the evening is 69 degrees. Of course it will warm up and summer will take over the helm of the weather, but I will enjoy each and every cooler day we are allowed before that happens. There was a story on the weather channel site about their being 6+ inches of snow in the Colorado mountains. Yeah, I think that fits my idea of summer just fine!! Well, as long as I nor any of my loved ones have to drive in the stuff, that is.
That's all the news that's fit to print for now; keep it cool over there and sorry you've had the Canadian smoke to deal with. Which reminds me, you had asked where the smoke from California fires goes. Sometimes it drifts up our way. Bleah! Here's to decent weather and cleaner air and best wishes for those firefighters up in Canada to be able to get the fires under control and OUT!
How is your week going? Sharing some patio pics. I don't have much room, but I have a fairy garden & some beefsteak & grape tomatoes & jalapeno & cayenne peppers. There's lavender on the table. Jasper is looking at the geese flying over. And there's the goose family down by the retention pond. Hope all is lovely & well where you are! ✨
The prediction was for thunderstorms today and tonight, but we had one or two rumbles and that was it. No rain, and we're under a flood watch. Ha, we don't really get flooding around here but I guess there may be homes that were sited too close to some body of water that may be at risk in the county someplace. We could use the rain, but I see they have drastically lowered our chance of having any. Fizzle weather today, my friend.
I sure wish your back wasn't an issue for you. You're right--it's nothing you'd wish on your worst enemy. (And like you...I don't really have one.) It's a pity the adjustable bed didn't help. At the very least, I find it helps me to get out of bed in the morning and if that is the only benefit of it, I will count myself lucky.
I think your sister must like to keep busy. I am just fine being idle as long as I have a book to read, but I know some people need to be "doing". Whatever money she's making with her part-time job at the YMCA will come in very handy if you need to either replace your dishwasher, stove or refrigerator. I'm amazed that both your stove and fridge have been so long-lasting. 24 years is so much longer than many new appliances "last" these days. We have had to replace all kinds of major appliances over the years (and more than once), but we do have a freezer which is 42 years old and is still plodding along. Every once in a while you luck out and get a large appliance that lasts a lot longer than you expect--and isn't that a wonderful surprise?
I think some people are just better at drawing blood and giving shots. Mostly I've had good luck with those who have to do this on me, but sometimes you get someone who either isn't paying attention or else they really aren't good at that skillset and then either they can't find a vein or else you wind up with a big bruise. I never hold it against them, though, as I know they're not intentionally messing up. Maybe I'm an extra practice they needed on their way to getting better. I can live with that.
Your niece is a smart cookie!! My cousins and I wish like heck that at least one of us would have thought to get a tape recorder and position it where it would have recorded our grandmother's ramblings while she did her "fancy work" (embroidery). The number of family stories we could have saved and enjoyed if only we'd thought to do this...alas, it was a colossal missed opportunity. That your niece thought to record you, your sister, and other relatives while she was visiting is such a good thing!! I hope she makes copies to share with any other family members who may want them. Such a good way to preserve family history, especially if she types out what was said on the tapes and includes that. That way, if something should happen to the recording, at least she will have a written record, too, as will any others she shares with.
Going to have my brother-in-law stay with us for at least a few days starting Friday. His daughter is graduating from an intensive 2-year dental hygenist program and he will be up here so he can travel up to the Seattle area and watch her graduation ceremony and probably take her out to dinner afterwards to celebrate. We're all proud of her, as this hasn't been an easy couple of years but she has learned so much and will now be able to earn more money (though she will have student loans to pay off and Seattle is an expensive place to live so she's not going to come ahead until she can work her way through paying off her debt). '
That's the news from over our way for now. Take it real easy and don't overdo things where your back is concerned!!
Hope you're having a whimsical Wednesday! “Just living isn’t enough,” said the butterfly, “one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.”~ Hans Christian Anderson🦋
