Raindance
She strides confidently,
forehead angled to receive
damp falling mist.
Whimsical air shatters,
rhythmic sound washes over her.
Rain speaks in enchanted dialects,
beads her pony tail
with gentle insistence
and settles on sooty lashes.
Sweet-water showers
moisten her warm lips
coax a questing tongue.
Spiked branches are adorned
with bits of magic,
leaves tattooed with liquid luster.
Puddles flow into
a stream of chocolate,
braid gravel channels
and spill willy-nilly into
the river merrily ripple
in blended hue.
Fresh-faced laughter bubbles upward as she
experiences nature's cleansing.

We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary on December 27th, 2008. Had all our family from 3000 miles East in Connecticut to 3000 miles West in Hawaii and points between staying at our home for two weeks. Had a wonderful dinner reception for the occasion on that date. Left for a Canada/Rail trip from Vancouver BC to Toronto and back in January '09 and were so excited to see all the beautiful landscapes all across Canada.
I just signed up for SKYPE this morning. What a wonderful way to talk to my kids in Connecticut and Hawaii. If you have SKYPE, let me know.
ABOUT ME
We have four children and six grandchildren.
I volunteer for the Oregon Symphony and the WellArts Institute.
I have a husband with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) from his days in the Army in Korea. As a result - - so do I. We attend counseling and I've participated in a writing group as a means of expressing what PTSD has done to us. At the end of the writing group, our efforts were performed on stage for two weeks by actors and actresses as a means of healing. It was a wonderful experience.
