"Volare"was the first record I ever bought

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, the birthplace of "American Bandstand". At 12 years old, I was a "Bandstand Wannabe". I remember rushing home from school to watch my favorite dancers, and if my friends weren't with me to dance with, no problem, I would jitterbug holding on to the banister! By the time I was old enough to go to Bandstand, I wasn't allowed because the neighborhood had become rough. So even though my local idols were only a 40 minute Elevated Train ride away, my dreams of being a "Bandstand Regular" were reduced to watching and reading about them like other teens all over the country.

It was a "One Eye,One Horn,Flying Purple People Eater"

My family

For over 20 years I have been making gift baskets. My picture gallery has a sampling of what I love to do. I also enjoy painting, decoupague, mosaics, candle making, baking, and candy making. I spend entirely too much time on the computer, but if you are reading this... you probably do too!,

"Tutte" has great memories of the 50's!

Hi Shellie,

What an amazing job you have done on your page. It must have taken an unbelievable amount of time to find and compile all these graphics.

They took me back to the sweetest time of my life. Late 50's and early 60's. I have always said my teen years were the very best of any generation. It was filled with dancing and music. No drugs and just a touch of booze. The car I learnt to drive in, was a white '57 Chevy.

I remember Poodle skirts, Jimmy Dean Jackets, crinolines, White buck skin and saddle shoes, ducktail haircuts for the guys. When girls were femine and there was a distinction between the sexes and our language was clean. There was a level of respect between the two. When we worried about kissing on a first date.

I think it is great that you created your page to take us all down memory lane. Ed Sullivan, Howdy Doody, Lucille Ball etc. etc. Times were sweet then to grow up in and so sad that our kids of today have never had the experience of growing up during a time of relative innocence.

Thanks so much my friend. I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put in to this.

Hugs, Tutte
