FAKE EMAILS WARNING
Posted On 08/09/2008 11:38:01

There have been three fake emails sent to me recently all from supposedly "reliable" companies.  If you receive ANY of the ones that I will describe below DELETE THEM !!!  They are not from who they say, and if you click on the link you could open your computer up for damage... You may have seen the link on the Cloudeight members home page warning  about the CNN Daily Top 10 email - these three are  in the same category and I wanted everyone to be aware of them.

The first has a subject of "CNN Alerts: My Custom Alert" and appears to be from CNN.

The next ones are supposedly from Microsoft BUT Microsoft never sends update alerts by email - that's what Windows Update is for.

- one has a subject "Internet Explorer 7".  In the email is just a link in huge letters "Download the latest version".

- the other subject is "Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool Free Today".  Well DUH, the W.M.S.R.T. is ALWAYS free...

Stay safe when checking your emails people... you can always hover over the link and see if the web address appears to be legit (you can do this in Outlook, not sure about Outlook Express), or if you are really brave, you can right click on the email and "View Source" to see what the links are.
