As I've aged....
Posted On 10/24/2020 14:17:30

As I've aged...

I've become kinder and less critical of myself.

I've become my own friend.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4am or sleep until noon?

I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 and70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.

So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think.

I don't question myself anymore... I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, I like being old. It has set me free.

I like the person I have become.

I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here,

I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it)...

Drivers Licenses
Posted On 09/04/2019 18:16:47

So, I just purchased a replacement vehicle 3-4 weeks ago. I was able to take my savings and pay cash. Now it's not a 2019 or 2020, Nope is a 2014 in excellent condition, low mileage. I love everything about my Jeep.... Yesterday my sweet Jeep was parked in a parking lot and mind you I am very careful to park in between the lines. I was just outside of the store speaking with a friend, when I hear a crash sound in the direction of my car. I run only to see a man trying his hardest to back out only to smack my car again. He is trying to drive from the scene. I run to his vehicle and scream get out. You just hit my car. He preceeds to go forward. My husband stands in front of his vehicle. I say get out of your vehicle and I want to see your proof of insurance and registration.... He finally realizes he his not going to get away. I take the papers and dial 911 on my cell. He is trying to tell me not to call the police he has a problem. I said yes you do... He said I will pay you $100 or $200., do not call the police. Dispatch comes on the line I explain what happened. She said, do you know who did it? I said oh yes, I have him blocked in and he is not leaving the scene. She dispatched the officer to come. The officer takes my info and then asked me if I wanted to say anything... Oh yes I do look at this man's temporary permit. He was pulled over August 20th for being intoxicated. He has liquior in the vehicle, he tried to flee from the accident he caused, he tried to pay me off so I would not call you officer. Now.... I have a smashed vehicle, he did not get a ticket and he blew a safe level... Officer lets him drive away.. Really... Why... What is wrong with this world.

Life in 2018
Posted On 11/10/2018 14:35:14

June 12 Nicole our daughter who lost her husband 2011 serving in the military. Has met a very sweet man and the married. We just found out that we will be grandparents for the first time in 2019.  Nicole and husband Aron have moved to New York, where he has landed a very good job with Corning.

Saddness was once again to Nicole's deceased husbands family. His sister passed away leaving a son 22 months and husband. Life is rough for David's family and we are very much part of their lives.

Our other married daughter Alison has landed a job with the local hospital in her town. She is a dietatation. She really likes her job. Cody works for a parts store as an manager. Alison and Cody are happily married seven years now. They are not planning on having children at this time. Both are focusing on their jobs to pay off their college loans.

Bob my husband retired in January of this year. Nice to have him home to do chores and make meals, as I still have to work for 3 more years.

Life for my mother is good, she healed very good from her hip surgery in 2013. At 94 she does circles aroung all 8 of her kids. She said on Thursday, no grass grows under this shoes. Boy that is right, we go shopping together and she goes goes goes.

I as I reflect on the years I can say that my family is truely bless. I am thankful this winter season, and Thanksgiving fast approaching. Have faith, remember to love your family and friends as one day you will not have them.

Posted On 12/21/2014 12:52:05

Just another day? Nope it's Christmas. No tree, no presents, no children home for the holidays. I know I can do this, I have the strenght. I am thankful for all I have, my health, my job, and food, heat for my home. I have my family, no matter how far they may be this holiday season. I can celebrate the holiday with them in another time. Maybe July, maybe August or maybe December 2015. Please be thankful for all you have.

Oh me oH mY
Posted On 09/15/2014 19:14:52

Oh me oh my, I so wish that fall was not in the air. It seems as it was just yesterday that I was so happy to see those sweet little spring birds, buds, and snow leave my yard. The temps are dipping in the nights to 30's and the greenry is leaving. The Geese are flying over head, the squirels are gathering their nuts, the insects are burrowing. I have been waking up to dark mornings, and evening skies are dark also. Oh me Oh my, why oh why must you come so soon? Just a little longer I beg, I know all wants to rest, as you have brought such beauty to my eyes for the last few months. I guess I must be happy with what the lord as for me each and every day no matter. I will be thankful for my days not matter.

Hot or Cold
Posted On 09/01/2014 15:38:11

When I am hot I like to have a cold drink, ice tea, or maybe ice coffee. When I am cold I like to have a hot drink, hot chocolate, hot tea, or hot coffee. Some like to have hot drinks when they are hot they say it cools them down.. Humm what do you drink when it is hot or cold? Do you have a preference?
