Cancer
Posted On 07/21/2008 22:39:16

To all my friends on Noth.

I am writing this to let people know they need to be vigilant in their health concerns. About five years ago I went to have a colonoscopy because there was bowel cancer in my family. It was fortunate that I did because although I had no bowel problems they did find that I had a cancerous growth on the external anal area. After extensive chemo and radio therapy I was cleared of the cancer. Now 5 years down the track again I went for a colonoscopy because I was having pain in my left side consistantly and my doctor sent me for a ct scan to see if it was diverticulitis or a bowel problem. During the scan they found I had a 1cm kidney stone in my left kidney and also a tumour around the stone. After having a biopsy of the tumour they found it was cancer. So now the left kidney must be removed, stone and tumour and all. I had the pain for a long period of time thinking it was ovarian pain or something like that. NOW if I had it checked out much sooner I wouldn't have the cancer most likely. What I am saying here is please dont hesitate to have anything checked out even the smallest pain or problem because it could be a matter of life or death. They say you can live with only one kidney but that doesnt make me feel any better because what happens if the other one has a problem to. Oh well one good thing it seems that the cancer is only in the kidney so once it comes out I will be fine..once gain.So please everyone be vigilant with your health.

Hugs all

First of all..Hello all my friends on Noth. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who has visited and left lovely comments on my page.

Now for the question. I have visited a number of friends pages and have seen they have the back ground transparent. I wonder if anyone of you could please please explain how to do it in the simplest form of English lol.. Even though I can cut and paste the html pics and things I am not sure how to make it all transparent. I think it looks great and the pics and comments do stand out more.

Thanks and Hugs to all.

Gis

My Journey
Posted On 06/24/2008 10:04:14

Hello all the friendly people on NOTH. I would like to write a little something about me. I was born Germany in 1952 and in 1958 migrated out to Australia with my father.Mum and Dad were divorced and my father had custody of me so I had no say in the matter . I grew up here in Adelaide South Australia and went to school here finishing school with a college graduate certificate with honours.

Worked for Shell Aust then BP and worked my way up to become supervisor of 50 girls in the data entry dept. worked there for a few years then moved onto doing programming for a health insurance company.(what I wanted was to be an air hostess lol but I was too short back then)(sigh). When I was 27 I married my first husband but that didnt last for more then 20 months. A couple of years later I married my husband that I have now named Peter and have 2 lovely grown kids Daughter 24 and Son 20 and one gorgeous granddaughter Hailey Jade who will be 2 in September. I don't regret a moment of my life as it has taught me to appreciate all the good things that have come my way. I still think our lives are planned out for us and what goes around comes around.

The Welcome

Hello NOTH People,

My name is Giselle and I have recently joined this community of Not Over The Hill people.

When I first heard about it I thought Oh No!  not another site thats recruiting memebers, but I thought I would give it a try. No sooner had I joined and done the profile thing I was bombarded with Welcome Waggoners and their welcome notes. It was wonderful to get such a respone of welcome and offers of help. I think I will enjoy communicating with some of these people on a regular basis.

Thanks NOTH for the warm welcome
