The weather in upstate New York has been very nice. Ger and I enjoyed our day yesterday by going on a nature walk. Ger loves to rock collect so we busily gathered rocks that she found interesting.

We finished our yard cleanup last Saturday and cooked for Mother's Day last Sunday. My mom is almost back to the way she was before she became ill. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers! On Monday morning John and I put the last of our supplies in the van, picked up a cup of coffee at a coffee shop, and headed for the interstate to begin our trip to Upstate New York. We spent four days on the road. I tried to make sure that John took good care of his wrist and elbow but at the end of a day of driving we were tired and needed to find a motel. The drive did not give John any excessive difficulty because of his surgery. He continues to heal and only occasionally has some discomfort.
We had wonderful weather for our drive and the traffic was not heavy. But we did encounter quite a few construction areas that slowed us down considerably. We arrived Thursday afternoon and our first stop was our favorite pizza place. I was thinking about that pizza being our first stop even before we picked up the keys for our summer apartment. After a yummy meal we went to see what our summer home looked like. Our apartment is small but roomy enough for all our possessions and very comfortable.
The weather has been sunny and beautiful so we've been able to get out and enjoy our visit here. The picture below was taken at a small neighborhood bar in East Utica called the Brewhouse who we heard had a wonderful Friday fish fry. John has been waiting for 10 months for his haddock fish fry. The fish fry was very good and so was the Utica Club beer! When we parked in the parking lot of the bar, John said that there were old apartments at the parking lot location and they were torn down about 30 years ago. How did he know? John lived in those apartments from birth to about 4 years old!

IT'S 88 HERE SO I GUESS WE ARE SKIPPING SPRING HERE LOL BUT IT SURE FEELS NICE OUT AND HAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN TO ENJOY THE BREEZE. MY FAMILY IS DOING THE COUNTDOWN NOW TO VACATION AND THE KIDS WILL BE OUT OF SCHOOL IN 2 WEEKS . WE WILL BE HEADING THROUGH VIRGINIA BEACH TO THE OUTER BANKS , FOR SOME REASON IT TAKES US THAT WAY FROM KY. HAD A GREAT MOTHER'S DAY AND GOT SPOILED BY MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDKIDS, HOPE ALL OF YOU HAD A GOOD ONR RATHER YOUR A MOTHER, SINGLE DAD AUNT,UNCLE OR GRANDPARENTS,IT TAKES US ALL TO RAISE OUR FAMILIES.
If friends were flowers, I would not pick you! I'll let you grow in the garden and cultivate you with love and care, so I can keep you as a friend forever.

Hello Precious, a beautiful day here. Have a delicious Peach iced tea for us as we chat. Was so nice to hear from you. Shannon celebrated her birthday with a slumber party and lot's of girls..daddy got no sleep for all the giggling, noise and I'm hungry chimes..mommy was so tired she slept thru it all! Said girls finally went to sleep at 3:30am..everyone slept until noon. Wishing you a beautiful Mother's Day weekend Precious friend.
