Moments In Time

Moments In Time……..

Tuesday 14th Oct - Ballarat

As I write this, the time is 10:45 am and I am having breakfast – listening to Bach’s cello concerto No.1 – Bliss!

I did not rise from my bed until 10’ish, yes, I know it is late for breakfast – but I indulge myself, as I can nowadays – I have served my apprenticeship and I deserve the indulgence….

The cappuccino machine is ready – I have freshly ground coffee beans – no other way to go! The aroma is heavenly – the froth on the milk is just right – perfecto!

Looking out onto my garden I see a Silvereye, smaller than a sparrow, darting in and out of the water in the pond, having such a lovely time.

The sparrows are congregating around crusts of bread at the top of the steps, flying off in a cloud when a larger bird swoops down – it is a magpie – sleek, black and white – stalking around to see what is on offer, picking up the last of the crusts then going on his daily rounds of neighbourhood gardens.

My lovely, cheeky, blackbirds rush in and out from behind pots and bushes – stopping every now and then – running, always running – scattering the leaves and mulch in search of some fat grub to tempt him. It is no great effort to sweep up the mess he makes in return for his abilities as an insect exterminator.

The starlings have begun to return too – funny, comical, feathered clowns, always arguing amongst themselves. They walk along the lawn, probing with beaks every few steps, for lawn bugs. In great numbers they do become a pest, but here, there are never more than a dozen or so each spring, then they go elsewhere.

The day is cloudy, promising rain, or so we hope. The sparrows have come back to bathe. My small pond has three levels – there is plenty of room for everyone – but they all want to be in the top level – chattering and splashing and pushing in.

Sigh! Sitting here looking out the window, being content is wonderful but, the ironing is reproducing as we speak, the floors will not sweep themselves – sadly. And I wish I could enchant the washing and pegs to put themselves on the clothesline!

The sun has just peeped out from behind the clouds and the day is promising to be just right.

This feeling should be bottled and shared……..but I will share the words instead..

You. by Me
Posted On 08/07/2008 07:47:55

I love your lips, your hands, your nose,

I even love your little toes,

I love your back, your legs, your neck,

I love you all, so what the heck.

I love your eyes, your ears, your hair,

I love you most when I am there.

I love your fingers and your knees,

I even love the air you breathe.

I love you 'cause you are a he,

But I love you best

'cause you love me!

Monday
Posted On 07/06/2008 20:58:35

A new day, a new week, a new month (new'ish, that is.) I have decided I have 'wallowed'  enough and the 'Winter Blues" are about to be sent on their way. Despite the fact that today here in Ballarat,  is cloudy, grey, wet and windy....I have a new mindset....gone are the 'sads'. I am thinking only of myself!!! I was feeling a bit unloved there for awhile, I thought nobody needed me. But we are all needed, somehow, by someone. Be it family or friend....I have not been walking for some weeks, so this morning (not too early...!)  put the raincoat on and armed with  umbrella, walked to the local shopping centre to pick up the daily paper and some milk. There were a couple of small trees with blossom just starting to show through, which means Spring is not very far away...that,  or they are a bit confused..no, no...the first day of Spring here is September 1st, buds will begin to appear all over the place..I also see in my garden that daffodils, tulips and other bulbs are showing green leaves. Must get some more potting mix and get re-potting things. I digress.....I felt terrific after my walk, the back ached a bit and the feet were sore, but I did feel better....Hope to do the same again tomorrow. No, don't say that...be positive!..I will do that again tomorrow... I am also taking myself to the pictures...Going to see Get Smart...Loved the old series and this re-make looks very funny. Well, I have rambled on enough for the moment. Unfortunately housework awaits...urgh! Thats one thing that never changes.......Enjoy your week.......Lyndaloo

A Poem for Computer Buffs...
Posted On 07/03/2008 02:34:25

The computer swallowed Granpa. Yes honestly its true!

He pressed 'control' and 'enter' and disappeared from view....

It devoured him completely, the thought just makes me squirm.

He must have caught a virus or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin and files of every kind;

I've even used the Internet but nothing did I find...

In desperation, I asked Jeeves my searches to refine.

The reply from him was negative Not a thing was found 'online'

So, if inside your 'Inbox', My Grandpa you should see,

Please 'Copy, Scan and Paste' him and send him back to me....

This is a tribute to all the Granmas and Grandpas who have been fearless and learned to use the Computer.....Go Grey Power!!!!

We do not stop playing because we grow old....We grow old because we stop playing!..... Lynda
