You're quite right. It is a nice custom if you don't think about how the pilgrums took unfair advantage of the natives. Being part first people, I'm torn on thanksgiving, but I can't very well punish myself for mistreating myself now can I? lol So I enjoy my family and extend my love to my friends and fellow earth protectors and all those who wish to further peace. (this is my little friend of one year old; she's celebrating her birthday)

Dear Jan,
I wish you a wonderful and happy thanksgiving day tomorrow. We do not celebrate thanksgiving here in Australia. However, it appears to have its origins in a type of harvest festival when people thank God for the harvest. I think that this is a very nice custom. It also brings people together from what I can see.
Once again, have a very nice day and don't eat too much
Thanksgiving is not a holliday here in the Netherlands ,so we have to cellebrate it in the weekend. So that will be tomorrow turkey #7 is in the oven now.All the cakes are done. The soups are on the stove now for an other 5 hours. We have 3x12 liters of cocktails,120 mini clubsandwiches when people com in and wait for the dinner to start.Than we have 248,1/2 pound of turkey.116.-pound of ham. 14 liters of tomato soup, 16 liters of chickensoup. loads and loads of potatoes , macaroni and cheese.Corn, stringbeans in country saus with litle bit of turkey bacon. Inbetween the courses we have all kinds of salads. At the end we have strawberry cake ,lemon cake, vanilla butterscotch cake, double chocolate cake, cherry cheesecake , strawberry cheesecake, 2 pumpkin pie, 2 sweetpotato pie, apple pie, blackberry pie, cherry pie and fruitsalad. So today I and tomorrow I am up to my elbows in work and I love it. I will be sleeping so good on sunday night. Take care.
Thanks for your comment and letter. I will respond to the lovely letter soon. It's not been a good week sleep wise. Zoned out I think as a result.
I can't imagine what it is to experience hail stones of that size although I have lived through many. Not to mention thunder storms. A lightning strike hit a tree outside my bedroom window and stripped all it's bark and foliage. Amazing I was totally unaware but since I was in a deep dream state, I didn't hear a thing.
I see that others enjoy your picture so I am happy that I was able to facilitate that for you and them. I too, I enjoy it very much.
Wish you a peaceful and restfull weekend. I'll have a more personal chat with you soon.
Thank you so much for your kind messages. No, I am afraid that thanksgiving is not celebrated in Australia. I understand that its origins can be found in the harvest festivals with people thanking God for the harvest. That is a nice custom and it brings people together.
Yes, Christmas is celebrated here too, although it is so heavily commercialised that is makes one wonder whether one has forgotten the meaning of Christmas.
I wish you a very happy thanksgiving day with good food and happy people around you.
I had a nice Thanksgiving. I agree that Xmas is so commercial any more. I feel sorry for all the children watching TV ads for all the toys that probably their parents can't afford. Have a good evening. Hugs Helen
Thanksgiving is sneeking up and my house looks like a bomb dropt. I am done making the cakes. I got the scarecrow , tasmanian devil a 3 layer doublechocolate cake, strawberry cake and a little snowman popping out of a pumpkin. Now the only thing left for the cakes is apple pie, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie 2 cheese cakes and a blackberry pie. I came on line just to relax a little before I go to bed. It is so much work to cook for 100 people thanksgiving dinner, but I love every minnute of it. So sorry if i don't answer the comments this week to much. Have a wondrful Thanksgiving.
My mom is at my place now. I'm taking care of mom, baking for our Thanksgiving feast and thinking about you! Thank you for always being there for me. Love your profile pic.!
Girlfriend... I don't know beans compared to lots of peeps. Life is nothing but a learning process anyway.
I know what you mean about giving up time for something else to be on the hill. Boy isn't that a fact. I make myself break away from my list of things I should be doing; otherwise, I get depressed from the druggery of the same old things all the time. All the good you accomplish gets lost in the sad, and that's not good.
So, now I can break away and enjoy my time here and then go back with a new outlook and do the things I must do a lot better and be happier in the process.
At least I got my curtains up finally... lol
God I was feeling like a slug. But I found a pair of boots a friend sent me last year and put my special insoles in them and wow... my feet actually felt good for the first time in ages. This crippled foot (I jokingly call it a swim fin) causes me to have to buy a new (expensive) pair of special boots every 6 months. (who the heck can afford that? not me)
So with feet that actually felt like feet for a change; I got a lot done yesterday. Now I can play for a while.
Have a great week GF and I love that picture. I wish I had my fishing pole and was sitting on the bank soaking up some sunshine and chatting with a friend. Ah that's the life.
Hugs,
Mengnu

Dear Jan, Thank you for your beautiful message of a few days ago. The more I visit others the more I become aware that they all know much more than I do how to put their personal profile together. You are no exception. I like it very much. I am planning to spend a bit more time on NOTH at the expense of other things. I hope that you have a very peaceful and happy Sunday with not too much snow.
Before long, I hope to have more time to spend on NOTH. This is something I like to do in addition to other hobbies of mine and volunteer work. I wish you a very peaceful and happy Sunday filled with laughter. I like your personal profile with the current theme. It is lighthearted with some very nice pictures.
Thank you for your kind comments. Don't know if you celebrate Thanksgiving but wishing you and your loved ones Happy Thanksgiving. If you don't have Thanksgiving just wish you and your loved ones a wonderful week. After Thanksgiving will be getting ready for Christmas. Do you celebrate Christmas? Have a great week and am so glad you stopped by my page. Hugs Helen
I am aware this is a rather strange image compared to what is most often found on NOTH but it speaks volumns to me and I think you understand. Rather than responding to your messages here, I am sending you an Email.
