Housework
Posted On: 07/31/2014 18:19:45

Is there ever a arugment of who is going to do the house work? I can tell you in my house. The argument is from me! Why am I the one to cook, shops for the groceries, clean house, wash clothes, put dishes in the dishwasher and takes out. Scrubs the floors, vac's the floors. Cleans the frig, and well let me think humm am I forgetting any thing... Oh makes the bed. Feeds the animals... Ok enough.    Now...... Lets see who mows the grass,  cleans the cars, takes the trash and recycled items. Pays the bills online.....  Works 6 days a week, 8-5 pm.... Oh yes enough...... Now on the flip side who repairs car brakes, does repairs on our home.... Who comes home each night to a cooked meal, and turns on the tv or goes outside to relax while dinner is being finished.   I would like to know how this is?????  Does anyone have a clue?   Well I do when I was first married I wanted to be the best little wife then mother.... I would do all these things and help the children with there homework each night, go to scouts, basketball practice... And still have everything spic and span.... Oh man I love my family .... I love to have a clean home, and all that goes with it...... But.... this girl is ..... Anyone else with me on this??????

I must admit there have been times that I had similar arguments with myself, and needed to remind myself that I was very privelaged to have a loving husband who worked very hard (away from home) so that his family was well cared for. We had a saying between us in our early years, which was "I'll Make The Living If You Make The Living Worthwhile!" (Do you remember who sang that song?)    Ray Price, Gene Chandler, Jim Ed Brown. I googled for you.... I hope this will help. Yes our men are keepers... I must agree...

Since he has retired, I have learned that there were a few disadvantages to those roles ... hubby had developed the 'art of fine dining' at the fridge door, if necessary. He does know how to operate the toaster, open a can of anything edible, and make a cup of instant coffee or steeped tea. Now I try to challenge him to learn some basics in the kitchen (like how to load and turn on the dishwasher and how to do the laundry) because I wonder what he will do if I'm out of the picture. Am I having any success? Hmm.mm?!!!

On the other hand, I can't remember the last time we have called in a repairman ... FOR ANY REASON! Hubby can fix anything, from a flashlight that won't turn on, to the dishwasher or water softener that are making a "funny noise". I'm content (most of the time), because I do know that when I am not feeling well, he's right there, willing to help in whatever way he can.

He's a keeper!
