Childhood Memories
Posted On: 07/31/2014 18:34:34

Do you remember the first time you were pushed on a swing? That feeling of ever being scared to death?, That feeling of you were going to touch the clouds with your saddle shoes? Oh those were the days! I still love to swing. Do you remember underducks? I would just scream with joy..... Do you remember laying on your belly or back and pushing as hard as you could to make your swing take you sky high? I would run as fast as I could to jump on my woodend swing  or my tire swing and try to make myself go faster and faster.... I love to go to the park and ride the merry go around... I would just get so excited that I could barely contain my self... Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Oh childhood memories.... So near and dear to my heart... How about you????

Childhood memories are the best, especially since I was lucky enough to have a near perfect childhood..

I am so happy that you fell that way... I hope your parents know how you feel...
I would not change a thing from my childhood...

I'm not sure that I would have the guts today, but when I was a kid, I spent hours in my neighbor's barn, grabbing hold of a gunnysack swing, swing out from the loft and dropping into the sweet hills of hay, below.

That sounds like so much fun... I would swing from the ropes in the hay barn when I was young... My uncle would say Patti Ann your going to break you neck... I had no fear in those days...

Yes, I too remember saddle shoes, they wore like army boots for petes sake!.. They just would not wear out nor would they fall apart, darned things lol.. You just had to wait until your feet grew.  so true so true.... lol  And then came along White Bucks..you had to powder them regliously or they became grungy looking, and lost that beautiful nap.  Actually powdering them did become a tedious task and as much as I loved mine, to this day I miss them, they were comfy and fit  like gloves. I do not remember White Bucks, I will have to ask my mother .  Then the penny loafers, with that bright brand new penny in the slot for everyone to see..loved them too, Penny Loafers, Oh my those were so comfy... I love them.. I had a pair I purchased at Kmart 4 yrs ago I loved them...then came the desert boots, I still have a pair lol.. it's so hard to throw them out, I can feel every stone when walking in them, they are so worn, but like I said, 'hard to throw them out'.. It would feel like throwing out very old, old friends. To funny... I have shoes that I feel that way too...  When our feet are happy we are so happy...

Saddle shoes ... that brings back a memory! I was twelve years old when I received a pair of saddle shoes for my birthday. It was a very special gift because up to that time, the only shoes that I could wear, because of an injury, was lace-up boots. They were 'BOYS' shoes ... and I hated them. I am so thankful that my parents "stuck to their guns", in spite of my whining.

I was about 11 or 12 when I was given my first pair. They were correction shoes for me also. All the other girls in school would tease me. Poor little girl has poor people shoes, no style. I was so angry that I punched a girl that pulled my hair as she sung tune poor little poor girl... I was so angry... I hope she has changed her ways. My shoes did the trick for my foot problem. Thank goodness our parents did what was best for us.

Yes, I remember the first time I was pushed on a swing. I wasn't holding on tight and fell off :-) But, I just brushed myself off and went back. I liked to ride the real horses that just went around in a circle and if you could get one to turn around and go the other way you got a free ride. Thanks for reminding me of some great memories. Your very welcome you made smiles upon my face. I remember falling off and getting right back on...
