Time is moving too fast
I endured our summer here in Virginia in 2013. The sweltering heat never arrived and in fact we were flooded with rain day after day and month after month. I am not a fan of rain even though WE must have it to survive but I was in a happy place because I was not sweating! Most of the time it seems that summer (especially with the heat) is so long and I patiently wait for the cool frosty Fall to arrive. Then Fall arrives with all its glory and bright colors that illuminate my very soul. I shuffle through the leaves and pick bright orange pumpkins in my neighbor’s garden. Warm sweaters and scarfs are carefully pulled from last winter’s storage and friends call to invite me to bonfires with marshmallows and hot chocolate. Hound dogs howl in the mountains as each hunters whistle for their special blue tick. There are so many harvests, picnics, and dinners going on to celebrate the affair of Fall. Then as quick as a thief in the darkness of night we awake to missing leaves and in their place is heavy frost. Winter is arriving and it too has its own bright splendor. There are snow men to be made and Christmas presents to buy and so much food that it’s almost sinful. Fires burn bright orange and send out warmth that draws the soul near. Puzzles and games are opened and families gather to witness the bond of quiet, peace and love. The harsh winds blow in from the north and icicles hand in pending doom, knowing that the sun will appear and melt the pristine winter soon. Then like a blink of an eye spring is already on its way and who knows what that will bring. Then we are back to full circle, summer. Summer has its special place, swimming holes in creeks that flow, picnics on mountain tops where the blackberries grow juicy and fish swimming in the cow ponds. Long hikes with friends to never ending green meadows with nature abound. I shudder to leave behind each season as each has so much to offer. Each has its own beauty and its own true story. As we soon say good bye to the Christmas season our hearts will be on valentines but no matter what season, God made them all and they all have a purpose and I for one will do my best to see the good and the happy in all of them.
