Understanding what you mean, down memory Lane
Posted On: 09/06/2013 22:06:45

I laughed today after talking with a coworker. She had to call me a number of times to fix something in the computer for her. Well she was like It's me again Margaret. I laughed and she was surprised that I knew what she was talking about. She had stated that when she had said that most of the time it was to someone that was younger and didn't realize she was making a joke.

It made me think, wow I am now turning into my mother, aunts and all the older people in my family. I remember them sitting around talking about what they remembered and me looking at them like they had 3 heads. Now the younger generation is looking at me like I have 3 heads.

Are things really better today then it was even 10 years ago? I think some things are but, for the most part I believe that they are not. Sure computers have made things easier, but are they also the downfall of the children today?

When I was growing up there were no computers. We had to learn things in school without calculators and we had to use books to get information on whatever subject we were studying.

We used our imagination instead of sitting in the house playing computer games and sitting in front of a tv screen. I remember playing out side, going to the creek playing in the water and playing kick ball in the water. Now I am not saying we didn't watch tv, we would watch Gilligans Island and then go outside and pretend that we were stranded on an island. We would play inspector gadget and a number of other tv shows like they used to have on, not the violent shows they have on today.

All these changes are making me wonder, what will the younger generation say when they are our age? Will cars be flying around like in the Jetsons, and they sit and say wow I remember when cars were grounded and couldn't fly.

Good blog and that's an interesting question. Yes, What will they say looking back. Maybe they will laugh about how we had to communicate when there was no virtual reality...who knows?
