Justification
Posted On: 02/05/2014 22:08:35

Well, I have found justification for buying purses!!!  It is in the bible!!! Yup, of course I took it out of context to meet my "NEED". So here it is, Luke 12:33, NIV, "Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out,". Of course there is more, but that is the part I needed.

My husband says I can't use that as justification because it is out of context, but I say, I am not the only one that uses parts of bible to my use.

I love purses, so why not.

Now I need to find something to justify shoes!!  Any Ideas???

My Red hat group is planning a tea.  Anyone have ideas for small desserts? Or maybe a chilled salad that can be served in a foil cupcake cup??

Thanks.

Oh boy ... Another lady who loves purses and shoes! I need to meet her ... Perhaps we could do some swapping! I know that Bible verse, and the words sound like they fit ... It made me smile, because I've been guilty of reading "my version" too, hoping to take myself off the hook!

My obsession of purses started years ago when I received my first Christmas bonus at a new job, after staying home full time to raise our children. Hubby suggested that I use the bonus money to buy something that I personally would enjoy. I bought my first genuine leather handbag, designed by our local (and now internationally known designer for his leather products). The amount I paid for that bag was more money then I ever had in it! I loved it ... Still have it too!

I couldn't afford to buy any more Derek Alexander bags, but sometime later, I discovered "lovingly used" DAL bags on eBay. Reasonably priced, I could use them for a while, then put them back on eBay to sell again. I was hooked! And then... When I'm lucky, I find next-to-new or even old stock bags at Value Village. They are so cheap, I can't afford not to buy them! Whenever I come home with a new (to me) purse, my husband just rolls his eyes, and reminds me of my promise to sell or give away one item for every new item that comes in our house. Oh, yah, he's right.

As for shoes...I was forced to give up that obsession, when I severely fractured my leg and ankle. My closet was stuffed with shoes for every occasion, and then some. Now I own one pair of "lace-up" shoes with hardware inside that helps me walk. If I go to a 'dress-up' event, my shoes get a fresh coat of polish, and a good shining! I've learned to stop worrying about what my shoes look like, and remind myself to be thankful that I can still walk without a cane.

I loved your blog, "butgrama", it hit home for me. I have a few things that I would like to be able to find some justification for ... That makes sense!
