I am almost ready for the big day. A little drawback this morning ...as I was almost ready to put the frosting on the pumpkin roll (looks like a jelly roll but made with pumpkin) I discovered that I didn't have quite enough confectioners sugar to finish frosting the cake. Oh, no, it's pouring out...really didn't want to go scurrying out in the rain and crowded supermarket...fight the unruly shoppers...maybe even not find what I needed. But, I braved it all and threw caution to the wind because I had too much invested in this semi-nuisance of a cake (roll) . I always wanted to make one so this is the year for it. Lots of steps to make it (cake part is from scratch). Got a phone call just 2 minutes prior to the oven timer to go off...no kidding ...no way could I take that call. Pulled out the cake and had to put it upside down on a towel dusted with powdered sugar and roll it up in the towel. Carefully is the chief word here. Well, I made it despite myself. May I mention that yes, all of Plymouth was out shopping and my handicap card was of no use or importance at this point. Folks just take the spots card or not. So, I parked about a 4 minute walk to the store, greeted by the bell ringer whom I had taken care of on many trips to the store. He then made me feel so cheap by looking right at my face and told me Merry Christmas. I just kept trudging on...I knew I had been fair at other times. I also needed a few other things that I felt I should pick up while I was there. Up and down the aisles all you could hear was "excuse me, pardon me, sorry, or just nothing at all as some just plowed their way in some big hurry to get to some magical place. God bless them. I managed to get out unscathed and got in my little Toyota Corolla which was now parked between two huge oversized vans....help....it also was raining harder than before which was like I always say .... . All's well that ends one way or another. The pumpkin roll is done and looks pretty darned good if I do say so myself...and I just did. So, now that the day is almost over I can relax ...until tomorrow as I get ready to entertain 5 other adults, a 3 year old and a 5 year old, for supper, and most likely get done just in time to run upstairs and change my food stained clothes and look calm and rested as they come through the door and think that's all I had to do was sit there and look all Chrissmasy and rested. Merry Christmas to all and to all a grand night .    Later, Luv, Alice

Good for you Alice! Hope the pumpkin roll was enjoyed by all.

Since it is all gone I think it was a hit. Have a great week-end. Hope you are enjoying your nice weather. We are quite cold here on the East Coast. I see the indications of a long cold Winter. Brrrr. Luv, Alice

Loved your writing - my son and daughter in law make pumpkin rolls and describe the process just as you did. What a treat to eat!!!  I do hope you have time to change your clothes as planned, but if not, i know your meal will be delicious and enjoyed by your guests. Happy Holidays to you!
