Never ceases to amaze me some new members join the hill and when you try leaving a welcome message you see that only  friends on their list can leave a message -----why join a social site if you don’t want to meet other members, we’re only strangers until we meet-----personal opinion of course

I used to be on MY Space many years ago and we encountered a LOT. Some of us learned to block those who were offensive, while others didn't. But, SOMEHOW, some of those nasty people would find a way to get to us. It could be the new members are from there or some other site like MS. This would understanable BUT how do they know what people are like here if they don't give them a chance. If they don't like someone they can always un-friend them and, if needed, block them. I've never found anyone on this site to offensive in any way. It would be nice if they would read the blogs and find out what kind of people are here.

I'm sorry but no matter to me the reason behind it I am irritated when someone comes to my page and I try to return the visit they are private. I have no desire to try an contact them and I'd just as soon they not bother me. A lady sent me a friends request once and I couldn't get on her private page for a visit to get to know her so I just denied the request and nicely told her that I don't accept a friend unless I can know who they are. She told me that she would make her page public and she did. She was a very sweet person and we got along well. I don't think she is here any longer and I miss her.

My comment to Winterdog ... if a member has their page accessible only to those on their list of friends, how do you suggest that we leave them a message? As for asking them to be my friend, why would I do that when I have no idea who they are, or if we have similar interests, etc. etc. In my opinion, the point of this social network is not about who can have the longest list of friends, but to be helpful, friendly, learn from others, and have fun. For me, this is a modern version of PenPals, when we were much younger.

I too, find that terribly annoying, makes one wonder how on earth some
of the members are chosen as "Featured Members" if you can't see their
page..So how do they get to be "THE CHOSEN ONES?" and what are they afraid we will do to their page?   Cheers Nancy
