IT FEELS LIKE FOREVER SINCE I LEFT A COMMENT. BEEN WORKING IN THE YARD AND GARDEN. I THINK I FINALLY HAVE MOST OF IT DONE. AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET SOME RAIN. IT'S BEEN IN THE HIGH 80'S. I AM NOT COMPLAINING THOUGH. MOST DAYS WE HAVE HAD A NICE BREEZE. ONLY TURNED ON THE AC 1 TIME SO FAR. I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN. I HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY WEEK-END...HUGS..MARYKAY
One of our best members sent me the quote of today saying, "When you find yourself on the majority, it's time to pause and reflect." Not me. I would question my decision. Hey,...maybe I'm ready for congress.
That fishing trip sounds like a lot of fun, but not for me. I remember my dad went fishing a lot in Germany.
He caught a pike once, when he wheeled it in he tried to grab it, but the fish took his hand and bit on it,
He could not get it out. A tour bus of people helped him out of trouble. I never liked cleaning the fish.
My mom did not eat fish, so poor dad had to eat a lot of fish. I don't know if you know I was born in Germany
and in WW2 a lot of bombs were dropped in the lake while trying to bomb the dam. Lots of dead fish. We would get them for the poor people that had little food in the war. You sure brought memories back to me.
Hope you have a great week.
My birth mother's mom and her sister came from Germany. I served in Germany for 3 years. I loved it.
Well, we, my brother and I, kept our grades up and so our aunt and uncle decided to treat us and let us go on a fishing trip--ON A SCHOOL DAY! I thought this was really great. My brother was 4 years younger than me. We left early on a Friday morning. It was a bitter cold, but we huddled together down in the bow of the boat. Even though it was a bitter cold day we were having the time of our lives. My brother and I caught a lot speckled perch. My aunt and uncle didn't do so bad either. I think my brother and I beat them if I'm not mistaken. We decided to go back in. We were so cold, but my brother and I were laughing and having a great time, because every now and then the boat would hit the choppy waves and the spray would fall on us. We got back to camp where we had gotten a cabin to stay the whole weekend. After eating a nice meal of fried fish, grits, coleslaw, and hush puppies we took our bath and was ready to turn in. Boy, we were really tired. My brother had the bed next to the door while I took the one by the window. It was very quiet and peaceful and we were falling asleep to the sound of only the little frogs and crickets out in the woods. The window being open the clean air encircled us and we bundled up under the blankets. Almost asleep. Then it happened. AWWWWEEEEEEEE HO HO HO HO HO. The sound of a screaming woman caused us to jump out of our skins. We jumped up screaming and headed for the door. Even though my brother's bed was right next to the door the poor kid never had a chance of beating me out the door. In fact; I ran over his little ass on the way out. Making our way down the hall and out the front door to the porch where my aunt and uncle were sitting waiting for us. They were laughing so hard they couldn't talk straight. It was explained to me and my brother that it was a Screech Owl that went off. At first they sound like a screaming woman, and then they start hooting. I will never forget that fishing trip on Lake George, Florida.
[Hello Sindar...looks like your nights are like mine, no sleep. I am 81 years old and you would think a women that age gets tired. Not me, I force myself after midnight, but lay around awake for a long time. Usually get 2 hours sleep at night. Even in the day time, never get tired. Thank goodness I live alone, I would drive people nuts. I have friends who take me to a private club every Friday night, a glass of wine and dancing, that is nice, hope I can do that for a long time yet. Have a great week.
Rose
I love wine. Not dry, but a sweet red or white, and a sweet rose is good, too. My favorite drink right now is a magarita on the rocks with plenty of salt around the rim with a slice of lime and a green olive.
Good morning. Not much going on at this end. My neighbor liked, "The Lion of Judah" picture I did and she took it home with her. I told her I was going to throw it away so she took it. My neighbors are so kind. You couldn't want any one else. My hubby is still working overtime with no break. My dish washer is leaking so I'm constantly trying to keep the dishes up the old fashion way.
Looking to improve on the pictures I've already done. Perhaps painting one to set in City Hall. Who knows who may take a gander at it.
I really don't see a need to go to bed. It's 12:55am, and my hubby has to get up at 2:45am to get ready for work. Then a couple of hours later I will get my youngest up to get ready for school. Only about 4 weeks left in this school year. So, I guess I will close for now. I'm hoping this comment finds you healthy and happy. I will make my 'rounds again to each and everyone that I can. Take care and God bless you and yours.
i am sorry for being gone for so long, but i had so many things i wanted to get done outside. and the weather has been so beautiful. wishes to you for a lovely day..hugs..marykay
Woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so I thought I would try and make my 'rounds on the HILL and visit everyone I can. Still fighting a cold myself. My son is better he's going to school as usual. Nothing going on right now to speak of. My poor hubby's been working overtime now without a break. But, he says he's going to as long as he's making the money. Trying to save to get a one-level home and get out of this tri-level. The stairs are killing us. Well, that's about it. I hope and pray you and yours are doing ok. Have a blessed rest of the week, and a wonderful weekend. I love you guys,...
LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A NICE DAY HERE TODAY, IT RAINED ALL DAY YESTERDAY. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE END OF THE WEEK, SUPPOSSED TO BE IN THE 70'S. HOPE YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY..HUGS..MARYKAY
Ah, such a romantic page you have! I always liked to listen to Andy Williams, so it's nice you've found him singing "Moon River". We used to watch his variety show on television. Of course that was quite a few years back but it was a good program.
Don't you think MaryKay finds the sweetest photos to share on her comments? And they always go together so nicely, too.
It's been raining here but the forecast for the coming week shows we should have blue skies and sunshine, with temperatures climbing into the 70's. Time to get out and "play" in the yard! I can probably rake the old leaves out of the flower beds. I leave them over the winter as mulch, but once it warms up they are not needed and too many slugs like to live under them. I'll need to do a little bit at a time so my back doesn't become a mess again. But I can do that!
A weekend has come our way; you've had your Friday night of dancing and I hope you had a grand time! By the way, I don't think I've asked; what kind of dancing do you do? Ballroom dancing or something else? I'd love to take ballroom dancing lessons someday. Just don't know if I could ever talk Dennis into it. He has problems with his knees, so it may not be something he'd ever want to do. But I think ballroom dancing looks so pretty, and folks who can do so seem to enjoy it very much.
I've no plans for the weekend; what I do will depend on how Dennis feels; I think he's going to go turkey hunting with his brother--they'll both enjoy that, as they've been hunters since they were young lads. I don't think we need to go to town, as we went on Monday. I think we get to stay home and watch the petals fall off of the cherry tree. When the wind blows them past our windows, it looks like snow. Pretty!
Keep on enjoying life, Rose; it may not make you young, but it will make you feel younger!
DARK AND RAINY HERE TODAY, NICE DAY TO DO LAUNDRY AND BAKE SOME BREAD. I'M BABY SITTING MY GRAND-DAUGHTER CHRISTINA THIS AFTER-NOON, REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HER. HOPE YOUR DAY IS HAPPY AND SUNNY..HUGS..MARYKAY
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE TODAY, SUN IS SHINING ,THE BIRDS ARE SINGING. BUT SADDENED BY THE EVENTS IN BOSTON YESTERDAY. TOO MUCH VIOLENCE AND SADDNESS IN THE WORLD LATELY. I HOPE YOUR DAY IS FILLED WITH PEACE AND HAPPINESS TODAY..HUGS..MARYKAY

hope you had a nice easter week-end. the weather here was absolutly beautiful. and it is today also. we took my daughter to the hospital yesterday after-noon, she thought she was going into labor but after some time there, they decided to send her home. guess we will have to wait a little while longer. have a great start to a new week...hugs...marykay
My back is healing nicely; I can finally sit here for a little while and write to my friends again. Of course I have to get up and walk around after writing a message, but that's alright. It keeps me from getting too stiff. I hope you are feeling well and looking forward to Easter. We will have a quiet one this year, as both kids will be working so it will just be hubby Dennis and I. But the weather is predicted to be very good, with temperatures rising into the low 70's. What a nice change of pace that will be! I'm also glad that the daylight is lasting so much longer now, with night not falling until 7:30 or later. Such a nice change from it being dark at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at the height of winter!
I was so sorry to read that your sister is not doing well; dizziness is a troubling thing to have. I assume the doctors have checked out her ears and ruled out any problems with them being the cause of your sisters' dizziness. That is one thing I know of that will bring it on. I hope that some bright doctor or nurse will figure out what is causing the dizziness in your sister and further hope that they are able to fix whatever it is so she can enjoy life as you obviously do! Dancing every Friday--how fun!
I say...'good for you' on having breakfast in bed for so many years; I'm sure it gave you a time to gather yourself together for whatever the day required of you! I very much enjoy the occasional breakfast in bed, courtesy of my husband on the weekends when he feels like making a big spread. But most often I have a bowl of oatmeal and some tea here in my office while I check any e-mails and see what's happening with my friends here on the Hill. Either way is a terrific way to start the day as far as I'm concerned.
Spring is definitely here. It's not just the warmer weather, but the flowers which have bloomed that herald the arrival of the new season. Today I saw that we have three light pink hyacinths in bloom. They have such a beautiful scent, though it is a strong one, too. Sadly, Dennis has allergies so I must be careful about the flowers I bring into the house. But inside or out, the blooms are a delight to behold after the bareness of winter.
Time to get up and walk around again. Please take good care of youself and have a great time as often as you can!!
