Angi,Our Daughter
May 6, 1968 ~ March 10, 1994

Angi was truly one of God's greatest gifts to her family. She was always the sweetest, most loving, caring and unselfish child a parent could ever have hoped for. Her disease did not in any way take from her the sweetness that was so extra special to all who knew her.

Angi was only three years old when she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She was not one of the four out of five children to have their disease go into remission, instead, hers was one of the more aggressive documented ones. She suffered daily for 22 1/2 years and never failed to pray that a cure for this number one crippler among children would be found. All of Angi's joints were affected by JRA and so severely that joint replacement on both knees and both hips became a necessity. These surgeries were all done within a three-month period at The Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Even though the surgeries on these joints were successful she was unable to walk due to the damage of her feet and ankles thus, making it necessary to spend most of her life in a motorized wheelchair. Her motorized wheelchair gave her independence and she remained as active as the disease would allow her to be. She graduated from high school and attended night classes at a local junior college. She did volunteer work in local elementary schools working with slow readers. She worked with a youth
group bible study and with children's worship in her church. Angi was also very well known for her notes of encouragement to family and friends and always ending the notes with her signature scripture verse Philippians 4:13 "I can do
all things through Christ who strengthens me".

Angi was such a blessing to our family. She loved her Lord with all her heart and strived daily to be faithful in serving him. She never questioned
"why me?" but believed God has a plan for each person and expects us to do our very best.

Angi was my inspiration; my confidant and friend; and my wonderful daughter! I thank you God for allowing me to be Angi's mom.

I like a variety of music...I have some of my favorites on my page (my sweet sister-in-law (sister-Aquarius) put together my page with the music I suggested--she does a great job in anything she undertakes to do. I like Elvis's gospel music as well as other gospel music..."There's a Sweet, Sweet Spirit In This Place" is a favorite. "My Tribute" (To God Be The Glory) is very special.

I like all of Eugenia Price's books. I have all of John Grisham's books. I like to read at night and enjoy different authors. I read from three different devotional books daily (Billy Graham is a favorite).

Peach is my favorite...Ivory and some Yellows, however, I wear 'lots' of black with white/ivory.

The picture below is of me, dressed for the Montgomery, AL Centennial Celebration. The picture was made in the offices of the Board of Education where I was employed at that time. *smile*

July 24, 2010, my husband went home to be with the Lord. He was very much loved by me, our children, extended family and many friends. We will miss him terribly but we know that he is happy there with Jesus. Thank you and God Bless each of you for your prayers over the past year on our behalf. ~Liz

This slideshow is made of pictures taken over the weekend of May 29th thru 31st, 2009. We had a family gathering in Troy where we stayed on a beautiful pond stocked with bream and bass. Some were there all weekend and some just for the day on Saturday. We really enjoyed this, our surviving family members all together again.

I am 72 years old. My husband is also retired from school work all of his life--the last 20 years he was Superintendent of the Talladega County Schools. We have four children. Our oldest son (46) is an Oral Surgeon In Fairhope, AL; my second son (43) coached in two public schools and is now working with medical supplies/equipment; daughter (41) taught 12 grade English & Drama for 5 years and is now under contract with 3 different schools working with the drama department and their fall and spring plays, in GA; our youngest daughter Angi) is now with Jesus...she went to be with him at the age of 25...the most beautiful person, inward and outward, you would want to know...she had special needs and what a blessing to be her Mother and could help with her needs. She graduated from high school and attended our local junior college...she pushed to do this but was something she wanted very much to do...how PROUD I (we)are and we miss her so much even though it has been 15 years since she left us. I have three grandchildren...1 13 year old granddaughter and 1 8 year old granddaughter who live near me AND our grandson who is 7 lives in GA.

I am retired from Secretarial/Bookkeeper of two different school systems. My longest time was with the Montgomery County (AL) School System as bookkeeper in the central office keeping books on all city and county schools lunch programs and attendance program. After moving to Talladega I worked in the elementary school where Angi and other daughter attended...I later worked in the central office (on a daily basis since my first need was taking care of my family--my income was limited with this plan but it was what I needed to do). Some of the pictures Of "The Farm" on Aquarius' page is where I grew up and is now the property of my two brothers. I was blessed with wonderful, caring & loving parents who taught us by 'showing' us how to live--the right thing to do. It thrills my heart to visit the "Home Place"...especially, the fish pond(s).

I have a Christian family...my husband and I are active members of First Baptist Church where our four children grew up during their teen lives.

This is probably way too much information "about me"...I may edit later.

I have been so grateful for the outpouring of love for me and my family in the loss of my beloved husband, Lance. He was so highly respected in our community, his funeral service was a time of knowing the respect and love he had in our city of Talladega, AL.

I feel honored that the City Council ask me to "try" and fill his seat on the Council for the year he had remaining. This picture was made the day I was sworn in. I am doinig my best and promised our citizens, I would not be one who doesn't take this job very seriously. It has helped in my own grief to be "busy" at least part of the time. I feel I am helping complete some of Lance' objectives or trying to at the least.

Thank you ALL for your sympathy expressions. *smile*

I like having all my family home on special occasions (only Jean hears me tell how tired I am when they all leave). I like my Sunday School class...my husband and I have taught (mostly him) a couples class for 13 years. I like to read; enjoyed smocking when granddaughters were younger; attending all three grandchildren's Upward Soccer games and Upward basketball and in May attending granddaughters (only one of them at present time) ballet/pointe recital and our grandson's piano recital (his 2nd year). I like to fish occasionally. University of Alabama football runs deep in our family even though the oldest son and oldest daughter both graduated from Auburn--the oldest son is now an avid Alabama fan (his wife is a graduate of Alabama) but our GA daughter is still 'true' to Auburn. Our deceased daughter, Angi, was not just an avid Alabama fan--she was a rabid Alabama Football fan(good-naturedly so). Regardless of who Alabama plays, when the game is over...it is OVER...no bragging; no crying.

Negative people. Insincere people. Any, and ALL, snakes

Below is a slide show of the most important part of my life. My family! This year, we decided to do something different for Christmas and went to Orange Beach, AL where we rented a condo and spent all our Christmas there. Our children joined us and the grandchildren of course. It was a very special time and enjoyed by all.

Reading, traveling, being with family, I guess, I might consider a 'hobby'.
