Smileycons! There is a child in every one of us
who is still a trick-or-treater
looking for a brightly-lit front porch.

Smileycons! She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express How pure, how dear
their dwelling place.

And on that cheek,
and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win,
the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
~Lord Byron

"A Continuing Journey"

Smileycons!

According to my mother I've an 'old soul'. That is something with which I have always been comfortable; it just feels right. Happily, this 'old soul' continues to make its journey with a 'young heart', and that makes for quite a trip no matter what turns, bumps, or potholes might be along the way.

Let's see...what else...

I was born and raised in the Land of Enchantment, USA, and have spent most of my life here.

Smileycons! Very happily married with a son and daughter-in-law, two beautiful grand-daughters, and four 'little' ones - Murphy and her three pups: Mouse, Molly, & Mister.

My better half is retired Air Force. He is now an Independent Service Technician, and really enjoys his wood shop.

Smileycons!

I taught Special Education for several years; my greatest enjoyment was working with the severely emotionally disturbed/behavior-disordered.

Smileycons!

I enjoy spending time with my husband, taking care of my family and home, having fun dabbling in a variety of hobbies, and exploring my spirituality. Smileycons!

Smileycons!

Smileycons!

Smileycons! Smileycons!

I do consider myself to be more of a spiritual person rather than a religious person. I believe God is very much a part of my life and who I am. I had a Baptist upbringing, and credit my grandparents for being wonderful Christian role models while I was growing up. I appreciate those values I learned early in life. That includes the importance of knowledge. It is my responsibility to inform myself on other belief systems, and to fairly examine situations and individuals before determining my response to them. I am so glad I learned those lessons. I would have missed out on so much if I allowed myself to constantly prejudge others for whatever reasons.
I also believe I am a part of all that's around me, a bit of what's been, what is, and what's to come--a little bit of space and time and the universe. We are, after all, "star-stuff".
I welcome the opportunity to learn new things from those I meet, and hope that I offer something new to them.

Extremely Angry:
-CRUELTY IN ANY FORM
Angry:
-assumptions of a person's character based only on nationality, religion, sex, age, color, personal political views, etc.
-generalizations of a group of people based on the beliefs and/or actions of a specific few
in that group
-political correctness run amok
-people who don't take responsibility for their own actions
-people who believe the world owes them something
-hypocrites
Pet Peeves
-Half empty containers! If I buy a bottle, bag, or box of something I want a full bottle, bag, or box of something! (My husband gets such a kick out of me opening items!)
-the seemingly increasing lack of common courtesy
