Celebrate 2008
Posted On 09/18/2008 23:53:07

On arriving at the Penrith Panthers Club we registered, given our identity cards and other goodies. Then it was off to a buffet lunch followed by a motivational speaker letting us know how teams work. With this in mind we had to asemble about 20 Leggo pieces into the shape of a model we were given a minute to look at and study. Not so easy and so after a few looks the solution was no clearer. Then back to our room to freshen up for drinks, dinner, comedian, photos and a dance to get to know each other. By 11pm Pat & I had enough and it was to the room.

Next day after breakfast we were given an outline of the days activities by a bloke who spoke at 100MPH ( Some gusts went up to 200MPH!!). It was a day organised by www.thrill.com.au based on the Amazing Race. Into a bus headed for Leura on  the Blue Mountains having to complete a range of observational questions on  the way. In Leura for a drink and more observing shops in the township. Katoomba was next and a task which involved using either the Scenic Railway or Cablecar to descend into the Jamison Valley. See www.scenicworld.com.au for details. Pat had a problem - which way would be the best to go, if any. Was convinced to go down on the Railway, which she did and regretted it. Now for a larger problem - coming back up!. Had a choice of a 15 minute walk to the Cablecar or go back up on the Railway. No choice had to be the Railway. Only trouble was she could see where she had come from and how steep the grade is. On to Blackheath Golf Club for lunch and a Karaoke competition for the teams. Then to Echo Point for a meeting with a full blood Aborigine who was to have a corroboree dance with each team. Each team imitating a different animal. Back to the Hotel to get ready for drinks and dinner followed by a Bush Dance . By 11pm we had had enough.

Final day thank goodness. After breaklfast onto a Bus for a Sydney Harbour Cruise taking in all the tourist highlights. This harbour never loses its appeal - a magic piece of water and foreshore. After lunch it was to the Airport and home and recovery. Tom
