I dont know if its an `age` thing but I havent been to the cinema for several years now I prefer watching series on TV from a gentler more innocent time like British series -Heartbeat -Last of the Summer Wine

I like most kinds of music from some classical to pop (except for rap ).....favourites are soft ballads..

I enjoy all kinds of books from biographies to novels and have been an avid reader since early childhood.and at some point of the day you`ll find me with my nose in a book - mostly in the evenings - one of my favourite novelists is Maeve Binchey

blue...I like most pastel colours too

I guess a traditional English Sunday lunch is my favourite of roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, veggies and gravy all washed down with a glass of Merlot

Hi everyone.......my name is VAL ..I live in the north east of England - outside the industrial areas and cities its a lovely part of the country - sandy unspoilt beaches and lots of historical sites and ancient castles. I live near Durham which is a World Heritage Site with its beautiful ancient cathedral and castle and the Yorkshire Dales are an hours drive south , to the west are the mountains and the Lake District and the Scottish border is only about 60 miles north and northwest from us. I am a retired Civil Servant - I have one sibling - a sister who emigrated to Australia in the late 1960s with her husband and two children. I have been married to Les for 33 years - we married in my late thirties but unfortunately we werent blessed with children .this is our only marriage for both of us.He is retired from employment too so we now go on long holidays while we are able to and our health and finances allow, and have, in the last three years,visited Australia, Canada, USA,the Caribbean and most of the countries round the Mediterranian Sea and we discovered cruising holidays three year ago so now prefer this way of holidaying .its great to unpack a suitcase just once and wake up in a new destination each day..its the way to go.lol

- the company of good friends .I really enjoy a `girlie` lunch out with a number of my girlfriends at least once a month -
- Autumn - my favourite season when the trees change colour. I love all the gold, bronze red and yellow shades on the trees -
- What I call `My time` when I enjoy a bit of solitude each day... Ive been this way since being a tot -I guess I`m a quiet person who likes my own space at times
- I like making friends with folk talking about their daily life and interests so that I can get to know them as a person - I prefer to leave politics and religion out of the equation as we are all of different beliefs

- reading, travelling, tracing my Swedish roots, photography though not an expert
