Happy weekend hugs to you and wishing you and yours well. My son is coming in today to spend some time and watch college football. I don't know what I would have done without him and my daughter in law with all of the help they've been giving me. They want me to come and live with them when I feel the time is right because I really don't need this big house any longer. May you have a terrific weekend and new week........George
My goodness this week sure went by fast while enjoying ones moments of life. May you have a glorious day and peaceful weekend that is coming up.
I am at the moment having some Green Mountain seasonal Maple Pecan flavored coffee to make my day abit more special. I believe I need to head to the store and find some of the maple cookies to go along with the coffee. I can taste them right now , one of my favorite cookies as fall comes in and shows it beauty. Smiles Gloria
At least I hope it has for you. It starts out a little bit cooler each morning but we are still in the 90's almost every day. In the sun it is not sweater weather but sweaty weather!
And I know Hubby is sweating in the early morning heat. I love that he is always looking for something to do. He got the Marten house cleaned out the other day just in case any birds want a place to nest.
Hey now, I was busy yesterday too. Football nails are now on! And I have Halloween nails and Election nails and then it will be Christmas nails. I do love ColorStreet nails. They are so easy to put on and take off! Thanks to my friends, JoyDoll (NOTH) and Ashlee.
So as I send lots of Blessings your way and remind you to share your smile, I am off to find something wonderful for our meal of the day (then we snack later). I took pork chops, ribeyes, and hamburger patties out of the freezer to thaw. So today might be something with Fried Rice and Spring Rolls.
I will probably see what action is happening in the backyard too and make sure Hubby hasn't melted yet.
Oh Nancy, you were missed. So glad you are better and back and I would love to join you on the porch before it gets too cold.
Good morning! The latest Gulf disturbance is sending rain this way again. Wish we could redirect it toward those in need of it. I'm enjoying the Fall/Autumn pages on the Hill so much... hope you are, too, Nancy:) *hugs* -di
Hello Nancy, more rain on the way for us courtesy of yet another tropical system. I sure will be glad when Hurricane season is over. We still have hummingbirds and flowers blooming here. Have a good mid week!
Well, here it is already Monday afternoon, but the yard has been mowed by me and Hubby has trimmed a tree, cut up the branches, cleaned out the Martin house, put up new fly catchers, and I'm sure several other things.
Hubby just went to run through the shower and told me that I needed to do that too... like maybe he could smell me. We have beautiful dark clouds today. We might get a sprinkle for tropical storm Nicholas but we are on the dry side. However, friends and family from the border (Mission) to Corpus Christi to Houston are predicted to get 6-12" of rain. The winds are only 70 mph now and are not expected to be much more than that.
Guess I had better find my water and figure out what our meal of the day will be today. Can't wait to see what your weekend was like and what plans you have for this middle of the month already. Time seems to fly by faster and faster the older we get. Don't forget to share your smile because there are lots of people out there looking for it. I miss you Nancy!
Hubby and I thought it was Saturday all day today. We went to Bass Pro to buy bullets. Then we ate lunch at WhatABurger. We stopped by Costco to get gas in my car and decided we would go in and get a bag of Scotts Weed & Feed for the yard in case we ever have a chance for rain.
If I had this grill on my SUV, do you think when I honked my horn at stupid drivers they would move out of the way faster? My last solo trip to town, I honked my horn at least 6 times.
It was an extremely busy morning beginning at about 5:15... Bella wanted out of the crate, in & out the doggie door, potty, drink water, try to get any of the other 4 dogs to play, chase toys across the floor... You know, just puppy stuff for a one year old. But before we could leave to run errands, I had to go outside and throw the flat, tug-a-war, squeaky squirrel so Carly ran and chased Bella with it all over the back yard. Nothing like peace and quiet when it is nap time.
So now I am off to the neighbors to collect fresh eggs from the 5 chickens that lay eggs daily and check on the other chickens that haven't started laying eggs yet.
This was Bennett at WalMart, as they were shopping for their weekend trip, he found a praying mantis in the store. He LOVES bugs!
Then I need to read some of Book #8 in my current series, Three Rivers Ranch Romance. And watch the hummingbirds, butterflies, and other birds (not bugs).
Happy Friday my friend and hope you have a great weekend. Very hot for today, Saturday and Sunday then cooling down with good chances of rain all week. Know having thoughts of my wife will always be but that's part of the healing process. Many years of love and happiness.
Guess what! I am excited. Yes we are going to be mid 90's today, BUT there is a hint of fall in the air. Rain is all around us, not quite here yet. We are hopeful that we get a little bit as the yard in the back is very dry in the hot spots. But not a drop for us today.
First thing every morning I look outside to see if there is color in the sky. Again, guess what... it was there today. You know how I love to take pictures. So look how our day started.
So now we are off to the feed store for more dog food and just happen to pass by the Mexican Food restaurant for some Wednesday enchilada special to bring home for lunch.
Don't forget to share that smile if you are out and about today and that I am sending Blessings & Hugs your way.
I can't tell you how much we are enjoying Bella, the dog. If none of my dogs want to play, Bella just plays by herself. She will take toys out the doggie door and later bring them back inside. Last night she found a tennis ball in the toy basket and played with it for an hour. She would put it on the couch, jump up on the couch, push it off with her nose, and then run to get it as it bounced across the tile floor.
And that is all it takes to be happy. I hope you are finding what makes you happy today and doing it. I went to Costco and to Kroger for groceries on our list and got them all put away. I even baked a Braum's Cherry Pie (from frozen). I made Lemon Cream Cheese Bars yesterday for my hubby. I also made Broccoli & Apple Salad with Yogurt but we haven't eaten it yet.
So now I am heading outside to throw something and watch Bella, Carly, Reba, J Lo, and Miss Kitty either chase it or just turn and look at me wondering when I am going to go pick it up.
The long weekend is almost over and it has not cooled off at all in Texas. My goodness it is still hot, humid and miserable outside.
I sure hope that you found time to just chill and to recharge between hurricanes, tornados, fires, flooding and just the fun times of getting older. We have to be tough to survive!
So as I am sitting here counting my blessings and just want you to know that your name is included on my list.
So now I am headed to the magical, mystical ranch in the book I am reading because that is my way of "Chillin'".
Hello Nancy. Hope your holiday weekend is filled w/calm rest or fun activities you have planned. This time of year I'm remembering pretty jars on countertops pinging as they cool & seal. Ymmm! Happy Labor Day... your colors here are fabulous! -di
Bella is visiting for a week and Carly is so excited. They ran and ran and ran in the big backyard for over 30 minutes and were exhausted yesterday. This morning they played some inside and then Bennett came over and Bella would fetch every toy he would throw and bring it back to him.
And yes, she can jump the baby gate! She is very smart and knows to sit and lay and understands most things we say to her. We are still learning each other's routines.
Bella is a good dog with kids and other dogs. She is also very good on a leash. I worked on Friday, so we are now ready for some Football... love College football. We are also waiting on cooler weather and maybe a chance at a shower. However, we have already watered the front and the back this morning.
It is a long weekend for lots so enjoy that extra day of doing nothing on LABOR DAY.
We have a cool morning today, and hope you do, too. What a nice change from the heat! If you enjoy college football, good luck to your team(s), and stock up on snacks, Nancy:) *hugs* -di
Good day and a joyful weekend for you. Very sad days for me as I lost my beautiful wife of 65 years. She has been my life with so many happy memories. She looked so beautiful, calm and rested on her passing. So now I go on thinking and missing her........George
