Hello Nancy, we had a gray chilly weekend but the sun came out late in the day both days. Got our pepper plants set out yesterday. Have a good new week!
Hope you enjoy it. We got it completely cut up in 8-1/2 hours. Only thing left is the stump. We have someone hopefully coming today to pick up wood and twig piles. Then there are the 18 green piles that either we haul off or pay someone to haul off. We are blessed to have friends that came over and helped the last 1-1/2 hours. Now, the stump.
Please remember for both links, you can click on the first photo and view each by scrolling through them (some will be LIVE and show action and some will be videos). I have to go get busy now. Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back soon. Just got word that both are heading here today for piles. Yipee Yahoo!
Guess what we are doing? Yes, cutting up this big tree. Anyone need firewood or wood for furniture? What a huge undertaking it is now. However, 30-40 years ago, it would have taken 2 days and been fun!
Who knew that Spring Cleaning would involve being outdoors chopping up a Juniper tree? Now if you have nothing better to do, come on over! hehehe
Actually, we have friends that were scheduled to come over tomorrow to celebrate everyone Anniversary. We are going to Salt Grass for early dinner. They are all coming with chainsaws now. And with Blessings all around us, we hope someone will need wood and haul it off for us as we have no bulk pickup in our city of Fate.
So... I am starting the weekend now because it may be a day or two before I get back here. Hopefully with different pictures from our backyard. Blessings & Hugs and yes, I am still looking for that fairy to help.
Blessings upon Blessings this day and every day! My kids are having so much fun at the beach.
At 5:30 this morning we had thunder and lightning but not for long. Just enough for the dog to be upset. We, as usual, lost electricity for about 30 minutes. Hubby even thinks he heard hail for a couple of minutes. Storms were moving very quickly and were gone in about 20 minutes but left 1/2" of rain. Finally got coffee made so all is right in our home. 6 dogs & hubby are napping now.
You know what they say in Texas (and everywhere for that matter)... if you don't like the weather... freezing, raining, winds blowing, hot sun, storms... just wait and it will change in the blink of an eye!
When my cactus blooms at Christmas, it is a Christmas cactus. When it blooms at Easter, it is an Easter cactus. And yes, mine usually blooms at Christmas and Easter and even at odd times throughout the year.
Now back to laundry, lunch and various other "fun" chores. Just grateful I can do them even if it takes longer than it use to for me. Now where is that fairy?
My girls, the animal whisperer and the track star, are on spring break vacation this week. Wayne called earlier today but we couldn't FaceTime when he called. Hopefully I will get pictures of the Florida beach soon. Even though we have beautiful sunshine today and they have rain.
I told you we were keeping the granddogs. So here is the cocker/poodle, Cami, and the 3 pound ruler of all dogs, Lily, aka "the little shit". She loves biting at ankles and keeping guard at the doggy door to NOT let anyone back inside.
I also told you spring flowers are popping up and here is proof. The beautiful sunshine and right at 70 degree weather will surely bring out more soon. I did notice that some of the rose bushes were putting out new growth from the bottom. Sure hope you are off to a tremendous week.
My girls are on Spring Break this week. So the family came by and dropped off our granddogs, Cami and Lily. Now we have 6 dogs living here. They are headed to Pensacola, Florida.
We were cloudy, overcast and drizzled most of the day. We still have clouds east of Dallas but west of Dallas is blue sky and the sun is shining bright! So we watched the Longhorns win another baseball game against South Carolina. I sure like that we have a couple more hours before it begins to get dark. Yesterday afternoon I changed all 16 of my manual clocks. Today I am replacing the rechargeable batteries in all 12 of my candles. They are set to come on every evening near dark and stay on for 6 hours.
I still am playing catch up at home from my 3 days of working. My computer room/office desk looks like a bomb went off. Good news however, our neighbor is gone on spring break too and we get to collect eggs all week. Woo Hoo! Sure hope you have a wonderful week ahead and share your smile with others!
I am so excited about Spring and moving all 18 of my clocks forward an hour. I love getting up before daylight and watching the sun rise (usually taking a picture of it). Isn't it amazing how we go from such cold temperatures and snow to horrid blowing winds and gray overcast skies to spring flowers popping up everywhere. I had a great time at work the past 3 days. But I sure missed you.
This morning I was on a zoom call with Faith Community Health. My friend is a Chaplain with Baylor Scott & White Hospital and she was hosting the call to teach us about calling on people who are home bound to cheer them up and check on them. I am excited to see if others want to do this too as it is all over the United States and Canada. And I already have a few people in mind to recommend that could benefit from having someone check on them. The training video that I did this morning is on the second Saturday of each month.
Then I went outside to help hubby cut back some of the plants in the yard. I will get pictures soon. But now I need to fix our meal of the day, whatever that will be, shower, and get ready for Longhorn baseball. We beat South Carolina who WAS undefeated last night. Hook 'em Horns!
A happy weekend to you and hope all is well. Sure liking our warm weather. Got a neighborhood kid to get all my leaves cleaned up as I get short of breath when I bend over after having part of both lungs removed a few years ago plus old age. Good kid and did a great job for me. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.....George
Hi Nancy, yes indeed, the blossoms and blooms are popping out all over. My Bradford pears out front are finally blooming along with the small Japanese Magnolia. Enjoy your Thursday!
Good day to you my dear friend and wishing you a fabulous day to enjoy mid week. Warming to great springtime temps here and getting ready to get new plants after the hard freeze we had demolished many of ours. Stay safe and happy.....George
I may have started with a spring in my step, but... 4 hour later there isn't any spring left. And we only worked in the front yard, the easy stuff. We cut back Crepe Myrtles, cleaned out some flower beds, trimmed rose bushes. Doesn't really look like much except for the trash bags waiting for pick up. There is so much dead stuff after our deep freeze. So now I guess you know what is next.
Gosh I hope you don't overdo the weekend with too much fun and end up like us!
Good day to you and wishing you a great weekend. Going to get a lot of yard work done now that it's got warmed up good. Lots of leaves to clean up and plants either to trim back or get rid of because of the hard freeze we had. Take care and stay happy....George
Mark another week off the calendar and closer to spring. Gosh I hope you have had a fabulous week. Just a heads up that next week I have to work Wednesday thru Friday, so you won't hear a lot from me. But I will check in when I have time. I'm excited to have lunch with a friend on Tuesday that I haven't seen in a year. So next week is shaping up to be lots of fun.
good morning Nancy, your page is so pretty. Looking and feeling like Spring here too. Every day that we get sun is a wonderful gift after many weeks of rain and clouds. Got all the plants out to soak up the sun for now. TGIF. Enjoy your day!
So we are getting close to the weekend... and closer to Spring! Getting ready to go buy dog food at the feed store and maybe pick up some BBQ on the way home. If it will dry up a little more we will have to mow (vacuum up weeds) on our 3/4 acre, around and around all the trees I keep planting.
