It is a sad, sad day. All 7 of my big plants did not survive the cold with no electricity for days in Texas.
Above is my Gardenia and below are my lemon trees.
The lemons are soft and squishy. Only one came off easily, meaning it is ready. When you cut into it, it is pulled away from the rind but it smells amazing. So it will be a lemonade kind of day. We do have beautiful bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Temperatures are mid 60's.
So here I am wishing you the best middle of the week possible. Share that smile!
Happy hump day to you. Warming up a lot in our area being in the 70's. Going to have to give several of our plants last rites that didn't make it in the freeze even being protected. Just too cold too long. Enjoy the rest of week.
Very foggy day starting off for us. Wife is still in hospital on oxygen and I can't go to see her. Might get in tomorrow hopefully. She's pretty weak and getting tube fed so prayers are needed. Enjoy your weekend.....George
good morning and happy friday. i hope you have had a nice week. it's gotten much warmer here, and the snow is melting, could it be that spring might come a little early? thank-you for your friendship, i wish you a wonderful day...much love mk
That's how I feel after a shower and getting dressed. Like a kid again but nowhere to go and nothing exciting to do.
So I think I'll make some lemonade and grab my book since the vacuuming is done and the sun is shining while I wait on the dryer to finish. Sure hope you have a fun and blessed rest of the week.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the plants are blooming (at least indoors). Christmas cactus has been blooming; the red just dropped it blooms and the apricot is getting close to dropping some blooms. The poinsettia is trying to survive.
But the orchids are putting out buds and starting to bloom. Isn't God's timing perfect? I got bills paid today and hummingbird food cooling. Breakfast/Lunch is also finished. So I'm off to find my next project. Let me know what you are getting into today.
Good day to you and hope all is well. Last week it was 7 degrees with ice and snow and today 77 degrees with all of the ice and snow gone , have water and power again. What a change ! Wife is still in hospital having a hard time being very weak and having to be on oxygen for the pneumonia. Very concerned. May you have a good week.
Today my girls are heading back to school after a week of playing in the snow, a week of not much electricity and a weekend of Birthday fun. But some schools aren't open because of water damage from busted pipes. There are still people without power and without water. However, we were 74 yesterday and the snow has melted. A cool front came through and we started at 30 but we will only be mid 60's today.
What a fun weekend for my youngest grand, as Michelle turned 12. Above is Michelle and Nicole at Obstacle Warrior Kids. They played dodgeball with the younger kids, ran obstacle courses, and climbed walls. What fun to know they are in great shape and to watch them compete with each other.
We are uncovering our plants today but not looking forward to rain this week as we have water standing everywhere from the snow melt. We are also hoping that the shelves are stocked enough that we can find a few things on our grocery list today. Don't forget to share your smile!
My heart is breaking for people that still don't have electricity even though most people do have power. Now the problem is water! So many friends and people without water to drink, to boil, to SHOWER! And so many with water damages to clean up in their homes and storage units because of pipes busting. So I thought that I would share with you.
We are doing some clean up around here too but nothing serious. We are grateful to be able to wash clothes. Really need to see if the cars still start too. So whatever you are doing, please enjoy and make the most of it.
good morning...hope all is well in your world. sun is shining bright here today, the birds are singing...and not so cold. hopefully that's a sign all of this really bad winter weather is done reaking havok on this country. my thoughts and prayers go out to people in texas who are suffering . i wish you a day of happiness and peace...mk
Wishing you a beautiful weekend to enjoy. Going to start warming up again to melt the snow and ice that has wreaked havoc for us. Finally got steady power back on but still without water so melting snow for flushing and boiling water. Be nice to get a hot shower again. When I was a kid we took sponge baths all the time because we didn't have a tub or shower. You can always make do. Have a great weekend my friend.....George
We are one of the lucky ones with electricity back on, haven't lost water, and no broken pipes. However, we are only 26 this mid Friday morning. I still have lots of friends with no water or boil water advisory. Most, not all, have electricity. So many businesses, hotels, and homes with broken pipes. Store shelves are empty and gas stations are too. Trucks have not been able to get here to refill anything.
We were above freezing a degree or two yesterday with the sun which started snow melting. Then got to 15 last night which has made the roads icy. The sun is shining today and by Monday we are hoping the snow will be gone. We have so much to be thankful for today!
So I thought I would share with you some of our fun pictures. Hope you can view the links and I anxiously await your responses.
We lost electricity early Monday morning about 2:30 am and went 14 hours without any. At about 36 hours we had only had maybe 5 hours of power. Now we are in rolling blackouts but the entire time we have been able to stay warm. However, a cousin in Arlington has had no electricity since early Monday morning, as do hundreds of thousands of people in Texas. My friend in Alice, near Corpus Christi, not only hasn't had electricity since early Monday morning, but now they have no water as the pumps are out and are supposed to boil water (with no electricity). Needless to say...
Again, we are OK right now. But please keep people all over in your prayers because so many are hurting from pipes bursting and destroying their homes, from homes catching on fire and dying from carbon monoxide poisoning (I think 18 children were admitted yesterday).
Our area has had around 6-8" of snow and most businesses are closed. There are warming stations set up all around. As the power will let me, I will read your messages as they cheer me up.
Stay warm and take good care of yourself and check on your neighbors. Blessings & Hugs!
Hi Nancy, our weather is better for sure. Not as cold as you're having, no snow of course. Just rain and more rain. Hoping for a break in it soon. Have a good new week and stay warm!
Hello to you my friend and hope your keeping your feet warm. The freeze has hit our area and very unusual cold for us. All week will have freezing temps getting down to 11 degrees one day. Had freezing rain yesterday causing many accidents and school closures. Still a lot of ice on trees but many of you are used to this. Just staying in and keeping warm, Have a great weekend...George
I know a lot of you are really cold and have a lot of snow and I pray everyday that you are safe and healthy. Please pray for Texas. Texans do not handle icy conditions at all and they all think they can drive in it. This morning most major highways in DFW are closed somewhere on it due to a fatal wreck. There are areas where people are trapped in their cars and can't get out because of so many cars around them. A report of one person who got out of his car and was hit by a car sliding into him and it killed him. There is an area where 70-100 cars were piled up. I know some of you have this in winter but we just are not used to it in our area. There are 18 wheelers hanging off of bridges. It is so sad.
We have been below freezing for 2 days now. Our next cold front is Friday and we will drop below freezing and stay there for 4-7 days. Single digits are due for a couple of nights. Our pipes are not prepared for this and I worried about so many people out of work being able to afford the electricity. So thank you and please stay safe and warm.
