Does anyone have a telephone number for Sparks505, or know if Lee is OK? She hasn't answered my email and I am still worried about her. Thanks!
Next question, do you ever see Monarch Butterflies? Do you have any Milkweed plants? They look like this...
When Monarchs feed on milkweed, the caterpillars ingest toxins in the plant that make them poisonous to predators until they become adult butterflies. The plant will have pods on it that contain seeds.
This is what the pod looks like when it opens and the seeds fly away, all over the place. I have at least three envelopes full of seeds and many more pods to open soon. Let me know if you would like seeds. My neighbor, a teacher, always captures the caterpillars and watches them turn into a butterfly. This year we were both out of Milkweed because of the bad freeze a year ago in February. We both bought plants. I also bought 4 colors of seeds which I shared with others already not knowing how many seeds my plant would produce. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this lesson as I did not realize Monarchs covered such a large area.
Too hot for me - it might get to 90 but too early for it to be 100 Cheryl. Hope you stay indoors and keep cool. Had lunch at the center then went for a mamo - always fun! Rich went to the post, I sstayed home - everyone is at the conference so i didn't want to go. Ate some leftovers and now watching tv. Earlier I caught up on the last two episodes of This Is Us - cried like a bably - hate sad endings. Have a cool day tomorrow and take care. Hugs, Wendy
Have you ever seen a two headed giraffe? Ok, maybe it is the angle but it is really neat looking! I have one more for you... Have you ever seen a giraffe umbrella?
Well, now you have seen both! I am so blessed! My friend since 3rd grade, of about 65 years, sent that to me in the mail. Isn't it cute!!! And I love the feet on it too. Earlier in the week, a friend of about 45 years sent us 3 different flavors of Pretzels. Then yesterday I got two beautiful but different Patriotic scarves I can wear to work from a Hillian friend of about 10 years. I am truly BLESSED!
This morning was cloudy, cool, and spitting rain for just over an hour. So we got the yard mowed. Of course, it is 96° with a "feel like" of 106° or 1006° right now as we still have several hours to reach our high for the day. We even got our errands run, bought dog food, got Hubby's passport picture, and got his glasses ordered from Costco as well as bought everything and then some at Costco that was on our list. We are ready for the weekend! How about you?
Had a small thunderstorm come thru a couple hours ago - didn't last long then the son came out shinning brightly once again. The enior center started having lunches inside at the beginning of the month and we went today. Have to sign up for the first two days of the week then for the three days. So if you don't like something they are having I guess you just wouldn't go. I got some good news, my dental placed called and had a cancellation for tomorrow so I took it. Will go after lunch. Guess I'll have a cavity or both filled. It's a school and they are upposed to be at least 30% less than a regular dentist. Not sure what my regular dentist charges but I'll ask. I also need a few crowns replaced. One thing at a time. How was your day today? I hope you haven't overdone it and that your houe is cool enough for you. Have a great eveing and night. Hugs & smiles, Wendy
Come with me into the field of sunflowers is a better line than anything you will find here, and the sunflowers themselves far more wonderful than any words about them.
LET THE SUNSHINE IN YOUR HEART BLOO, LIKE THE BEAUTY OF THE SUNFLOWER
Beautiful day - in the low 80's again with no humidity and no rain as yet. Rich went to a Mason meeting and I ate some leftover chicken wings and a little tomato salad I made for dinner. He eats there. He should be home soon. Meanwhiile I can watch what I like on tv as he always watches his shows. Trouble is, there isn't much on. Hope you get over the rest of your cold soon. Hugs, Wendy
It was a late night last night as the Texas Longhorn girls won two games in a row to be the first in history to be an unseeded team to advance to the World Series finals. The boys will start the Super Regionals this weekend.
I hope most of you saw Kyle Kid's post. I talked to George two days in a row and was so glad he told me he would try to get on and send a bulletin. Please keep him in your prayers as he starts more radiation on the cancer in his brain.
Would you believe I have a pair of red heart shaped sunglasses? Well, I do! And I already feel about the way that guy looks. At 9:30 it was only 79° but after 30 minutes outside watering, I came in with water running in my eyes (SWEAT). Yes it is Humid!
I am grateful for my plants and my friends. Most all my plants are really doing very good this year. I still have a few Bluebonnets blooming in the front flowerbed around the mailbox. And the milkweed plant (for Monarch Butterflies) just opened about half the pods and I gathered seeds and put them in an envelope to share with others.
