So what are you doing this lovely Wednesday? I am working half a day. But I still have time to play! We only had about 2/10" of rain yesterday before the sun finally came out.
But there is still plenty of water around to play in as you can see in this reflection. So come on over and play or just sit and relax. But along the way share your smile!
I ended up outside on the porch for several hours this morning. Why? Because it was raining lightly and raining and raining hard. Today will be about an inch of rain for us but my friends near me already have 2". I read, did FaceTime with a friend, and maybe took some videos of Hummingbirds and Cardinals. So I came in and downloaded between 74 and 102 pictures since June 1st to my computer. I am addicted!
It has been so very humid the last few days when the sun does come out for a bit. Our A/C has been on for well over a month. The latest news is that we are supposed to have at least 10+ days of no rain soon. The bad news is it will be in the 90's and above for most of that time. Well, from now until October probably.
So I am off to enjoy the rest of the rainy day and ask that you remind me in a few months of how much rain we have had now.
Guess what... our gauge had 1" of rain this morning. I got three beautiful videos of lightning in the clouds about 9:15 pm. While texting one of my friends last night, I said storms are all around us but looks like everything will miss us completely. At 11:30 pm I was outside again and got pictures of the stars shining bright above the storm clouds building all around us.
Around 3 am a small cell (not above that was at 11:30 pm) built up right next to us and came right over us when the bottom fell out and gave us our 1" in a very short period.
I keep emptying the trays under the potted plants but even them and my poor rose bushes (very few leaves) and other plants are not happy about the amount of rain they are getting right now, especially with the lack of sunshine. The sun is out but lots of cloud cover is around too. It has been months since the ground has dried out completely. Lee, you know I will gladly share our rain!
I grew up with 500 acres and cattle and we never complain about the rain and I'm not now. Because before we know it, we will be in a drought and people will have to hunt for hay to buy for the cows. So, I'm heading out with a smile to share with you on this beautiful and blessed Sunday.
Friday we got the yard mowed. Yes, there were ruts again in the same area of the yard. But then overnight we had 1/2" of rain in the gauge. My daughter-in-law, Evelyn, came to spend the night around 8:30 so we could drive about 45-60 minutes to Canton which is southeast of Fate. It is the world's largest flea market. Check out www.firstmondaycanton.com It is only open one weekend a month year round. Originally it was a great place to find bargins and unusual things. Now the prices are just as high as anywhere else. We bought a fruit cup for each when we first got there and ended with a corny dog. We brought nothing home! But we got our 10,000 steps in for the day and had a wonderful time! And now it is college regional baseball playoff time for my Longhorns! So I willl say,
what is left of it. Share your smile! I met two wonderful people today and we shared awesome conversations. There are so many wonderful people in this world.
"Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don't waste it with a false start or no start at all. Good day to you and wishing you a happy weekend. Have had some good rains which we needed. Enough where you could say ask for a drink of water and get thrown in the lake.Take care my friend......George
Hope your Wednesday has been a fun filled day. We woke up to sunshine today for the first time in many weeks. There are times when the sun comes out in between the rain and there are days nothing but clouds. But today has been a blessing especially since there is a chance of rain in the forecast for many days to come.
I love hearing from you and I'll see you tomorrow rain or shine. Now I'm off to get a few more things done today if I can find my sunglasses.
A very good day to you my friend. Rain forecast in our area for a week. Looks like we need to see how long we can tread water ! Enjoy your day and take care....George
How are you doing? We got over 2" of rain from about 5 pm yesterday to 9 am today! So we have water running through the back yard and across the driveway and front yard.
Here we are starting a new month. Most of the schools are out and people are planning vacations. I know I am working in July for a week and we were trying to go visit friends for a week this month. However, since we are so wet, we can't leave the dogs outside in the mud and water.
They fought for our freedom! Happy Memorial Day to all!
Yesterday my kids came for a visit! What a wonderful day we all had together.
Can you believe that Nicole is only about 16 months older than Michele? Tall, fat, short... in that order.
Michele is our animal whisperer. I have a video of her petting a wild bird, a dove. She loves her chickens and all animals.
They had a picnic outside. They eat salads, too healthy for me. And then they play or practice volleyball.
So now I'm heading to the patio to watch for hummingbirds before the rain gets here... again! Enjoy your Monday as we head into another new week and a new month!
Get out and get some Vitamin D and share that smile!
All I can say is, we got the yard mowed on Thursday afternoon. Then the rain arrived before sunrise and we got almost 1/2". Now if you know where to take the pictures, the backyard looks great.
Then Friday we had to buy some groceries because we had almost no bread left in the house. We did rest a bit too. So by Saturday we were ready to go again.
Isn't that cloud sad?
The tree on the right was hanging so low that it would touch the roof of my car. So you know what that means. Time to trim a tree. We don't have bulk pick up so we can only put out 4 bundles of 3x3x3 tied together once a week.
Now it is time for the big 12 baseball playoff and softball in just a bit. Who knows what Sunday and Monday will bring.
Please know that I am sending Blessings and Hugs to you and hoping that you are sharing your smile as we Remember and Honor this Memorial Day for those who gave their life so we could enjoy our life.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend to enjoy with friends and family. A special time to remember those who gave all for our freedoms. May your week be blessed......George
Remember when this was all we had to do? Your friendship means the world to me. We had sunshine yesterday and today but storms will return late tonight.
Today I still have 2 appointments and we hope to get the yard mowed before storms start again. Hopefully by late today we will not rut the yard too bad. We are gathering as many friends as we can to help... ok it is just the 2 of us.
“Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be Thursday…Nothing more pleasurable than opening our eyes and realizing that every day, God gives us a chance to try again. Of not looking back. To love, smile and live
We had 7/10" rain in our gauge this morning from yesterday and early today. I want you to know that it hasn't rained here in the last 3 hours.
But look what is coming our way. We might have sunshine tomorrow afternoon and Thursday, unless they change the forecast, with showers moving in on Friday.
I want you to know how much you mean to me. I am working tomorrow but I will be back and check on you as soon as I can! Lee, I am saying a prayer now asking that the Lord wrap His loving arms around you and give you healking peace. You are so very special to so many.
Until then please share your smile as you never know who needs it the most.
There are pictures of hummingbirds, Tom & Julie's yard and fish in Lubbock, Michelle and Nicole's Choir Concert, Rain and scared dogs under Robert's feet, my 15 minutes of sun and music, T&J back yard in Lubbock, our back yard in Fate, T&J front yard in Lubbock, our front yard view of clouds, the girls last day of school (They walk 2 blocks together but next year they will be at different schools), Michelle & Nicole's dogs and a lost turtle, me, and the beautiful Friday evening rainbow and chimes!
