Everyone should be born into this world happy
and loving everything.
But in truth it rarely works that way.
For myself, I have spent my life clamoring toward it.
Halleluiah, anyway I'm not where I started!
And have you too been trudging like that, sometimes
almost forgetting how wondrous the world is
and how miraculously kind some people can be?
And have you too decided that probably nothing important
is ever easy?
Not, say, for the first sixty years.
Halleluiah, I'm sixty now, and even a little more,
and some days I feel I have wings.

ABOUT ME
I'm an Austin Granny of some geekiness and have my own web site www.AustinGranny.com I am retired after years in the medical business. We moved to become grandparents here in Austin, Texas. My younger husband retired last month. When we don't have the nine-year-old grand girl over, we enjoy getting together with close and dear friends, gardening and keeping up with politics. I attend U.T. Quest, a lifelong learning program, twice a week for lectures and seminars on a wide range of topics from art to archeology, music to the middle east, leadership to literature, energy to economics.
WHAT I LIKE
PEACE, please! Road trips in my cool vanilla PT Cruiser convertible (it's like having a car for a pet), gardening, anything chocolate, designing websites for non-profits, backyard bottle tree, old and new friends, Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, chamomile tea, elastic, lilacs and laughter, Netflix movies, raspberries, wings, mornings, maple leaves, smiles. horseback riding, farmer's markets, gardens of Kyoto, picnics, Lake Wobegon monologues, ribbons, daisies, Michael Bublé, Irish Coffee, The Daily Show, and garden blogs especially www.SoulOfTheGarden.com
WHAT I DON'T LIKE
An increasingly unequal society and a grinding, unnecessary war that has exacted a huge toll in lives, money, civil liberties and America’s reputation abroad. Also: belief systems, dogma, sermons, ignorance, prejudice, manifest destiny, exceptionalism, ringtones, underwires, rutebagas, miracle fabrics, instant messaging, life support, experts, forms, ethanol, colonoscopies, sushi, genealogy or other yesteryeariness, cold weather, sports scores, anchovies, telemarketers, durable power of anything, pageants, Fabreeze, running shoes, laboratories and vials, construction noise, mosquitoes, processes, policies and procedures, committee meetings, rules, and colon-blow bran muffins! LOL!
