TV shows--new??--Updated 9/27
Posted On 09/25/2016 15:43:22 by Altara33606

After looking at some of the 'new' TV shows, I've decided I'm "old-fashioned', for lack of a better word/phrase.  It seems like the 'powers that be' can't seem to come up with any new ideas! And I'm not interested in seeing "new takes on old ideas". I happen to like the original versions!

I didn't like the idea of a 'new' Hawaii Five-O; so, no, I didnt even watch the Pilot episode.  Now, it's a 'new' MacGyver. And no, I don't plan on watching it.  If they can't come up with any new ideas, why should I bother?

I've now found 3 'possible' new shows to watch: Timeless (a time travel series) & Frequency (I liked the movie, so I'll give the series a chance).  Then, I'd forgotten about Designated Survivor; I watched the pilot & found myself hooked on the plot--so that's one I'll definitely watch.

However, as usual, at least one of these shows is on at the same time as an returning favorite, so we'll see which one wins out!

I do agree with you that they've run out of plot ideas.  However, I do like "Timeless," but just because I love sci fi.  Other new shows, no.  I'll stick with the old returning series; "NCIS" and "NCIS, New Orleans," "Survivor," "Scorpion," "Hell's Kitchen," etc.  I don't watch the real old series from way back that they show on Get TV or Cozy TV, but I agree, that sometimes, (TV, in particular) there's nothing new under the sun.

I have to agree, very little holds my attention - waiting for Victoria, and was addicted to Downton Abbey. There seems to be so much violence, evil and boring dominance of the F word - have they run out of dialogue that every sentence is punctuated with the descriptive F word! Who is speaking and writing decent English these days? I would rather turn the tv off than be bombarded with trashy, brainless comedy, gratuitous violence and sex etc. Maybe flash cards of George Clooney, Richard Gere, Antonio Banderas, anyone in NCIS would work better for me. Completely disenchanted with tv offerings. Even the news channels are often annoying, who wants to listen to country and western in the middle of news! Back to radio, or maybe audio and I can crochet at the same time. Oh dear, maybe I am Over the Hill.

I've given up on TV. I don't even own one. Computer is much better.

I know what you mean, Di!

I'm anxious for a few of my favorites to come back.  SURVIVOR has started and I know ELEMENTARY starts next Sunday.

I've watched 3 new shows so far.  KEVIN CAN WAIT - and it stank.  THIS IS US which I really liked!  And LETHAL WEAPON which I thought was very good and will continue to watch.

I'm looking at my TV show list and I have... Today, Ellen DeGeneres, Dancing With The Stars, America's Got Talent, my local news stations, and a few others. Right now I'm watching football.
