Different names--in different areas
Posted On 04/26/2022 09:58:15 by Altara33606

I just saw this on Facebook. My answers seemed 'normal'--and they are, for the Midwest, at least. I was surprised to see that people from the South--and New York city--use totally different names for these common items. I'm interested in seeing what everyone here 'calls' these items; I'll post my answers after the photo:

sample-items

My answers were: Grocery/shopping cart, BackPack, Soft Drink.

 Other names were: 'buggy', soda/coke/pop

In my part of the South (Alabama):  Buggy, backpack, and all soft drinks are called 'cokes', whether it be Sprite, Dr Pepper, RC etc.

Cart, Backpack, Soda

I'm from Florida.  I have heard carts called "Buggy" most of my life but I myself use the word cart.

It is interesting the name of these items being different depending on where you are from. My answers pretty much match yours since I'm also considered from the midwest. Shopping cart/backpack/pop. Even though now I would say soft drink instead of pop. When I was younger I learned from being in the show me state that pop is called soda. There's even a classic song by a southern group called Go for a Soda.
