Everyone who has visited my page knows I have five wonderful pets: my little dog Ginger and her four cat companions: Delilah, Nicholas, Skeeter, and Sassy (you can see their pictures in my gallery).
What you might not know is I also had a cat by the name of Misty who gave birth in 1996 to three of the sweetest little grey kittens that you've ever seen ...
The Three Mousekitters: Delilah, Sampson and Solomon
This is a true story in memory of Solomon. Solomon was a very wise and intelligent kitten and one of his favorite things to do was to sit on the coffee table and watch television. It was so cute to watch him as he stared at the tv, his little head bobbing up and down with every movement on the screen. We often wondered if he really knew what was going on or if he was just reacting to the colors and motion of the program. We were soon to learn the answer to our thoughts.
One evening as we settled into our bed and turned on the television, Solomon came running into our bedroom and jumped up on the bed. As we laid there watching tv, Solomon went to the bottom of the bed, stood up and draped himself over the bottom rail and started watching tv as well. A commercial came on - you probably have all seen this one - it's the commercial advertising some brand of toilet paper and describing how much paper is on the roll, then showing a cat running into the bathroom and proceeding to unroll the toilet paper. Betcha have! Well, the commercial ended and all of a sudden Solomon jumped off of the bed and ran into the bathroom. We heard a strange noise and wondered what was going on. I asked Daddy, "Do you think he's doing what I think he's doing?" Daddy said, "I don't know." I said, "I bet he is. I'm going to get up and see what's going on." So I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom door and peeked in. This is what I saw:
I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes! He really did know what he was watching on tv. Who woulda' ever thought - they really are quite intelligent little creatures.
Where are the '3 mouseketers' now you might ask .. Sampson and Solomon started wandering off .. probably looking for a girl friend and we never saw them again. That's the year I decided that all cats were going to be 'fixed' so they didn't get the wanderlust idea. Delilah is still at home and loves her Daddy .. she is now 16 years old.
