Not much of a movie fan. Movies today are not what I enjoy watching. We trade DVDs with our kids, we buy some, they buy some and we trade. Have seen quite a few good ones that way.
MUSIC
Especially fond of Gaither Southern Gospel along with the Signature Sound quartet. I saw them in concert just this summer, (2008) locally and we bought the artist circle tickets, and were wonderfully close to the stage. I'm also a fan of classical piano and I have XM satellite radio and listen to the music from the 40's on there. I can remember alot of those songs, and they're songs you wouldn't care if your children heard the words.
BOOKS
I've gotten back to reading, since I had cataract surgery done on both of my eyes in 2006. What a different world is out there. Colors are so bright and everything looks so different. I usually get my books from my church library, and get 2/3 a week.
I've read all the Francine Rivers books I can find, and I also read all the Yada Yada Book Club series. Those were fun. Francine Rivers is such a diverse author, and I hope to find more sometime.
MY FAVORITE COLOR
I'm particularly fond of yellow and also blue. But by the same token, I love most colors, especially bright (yellow) and cool (blue) all the others too. I look at greens, browns, and blacks and like those too, but I guess my least favorite would be pink. I'm just not a pink person.
MY FAVORITE FOOD
My favorite food? That's hard to say. I like most all foods, potlucks are one of my favorite things to do. It seems as if everyone brings their best food.
I'll have been married this October for 52 years. That's a long time with the same man! We had 3 boys, now have 2 DILs and 9 grandkids, 8 of those g/kids are girls, only one boy. We also have 1 grandson-in-law and now have 2 great grandchildren. One boy and one girl. We have 4 grandkids in college, and our youngest is a Sr. in high school this year. Lots of fun
WHAT I LIKE
I love peace and quiet. I'm happiest when I'm home, either cooking or reading. It seems as if I have to be gone much more than I'd like to be, but there is always something to do that takes me away from home.
I would also like you to sign my guestbook please, it's kind of fun knowing where each of us lives. If you don't want to say exactly where, use a near city to where you live. Thanks
WHAT I DON'T LIKE
I HATE violence of any kind. Purposely don't watch much local news because it's all about sensationalisn, murders, car accidents, breakins etc., you get the picture. I keep track of political events on mainstream big news like CNN.
HOBBIES
For over 50 years my husband and I have collected antique salt shakers. We have a nice collection, these are not novelty shakers, these are Victorian art glass, late 1800's and some are extremely expensive. We don't buy much any longer, they've almost become price prohibitive. We belong to a national collectors club and each year we have a convention, this year was in Ohio which made it nice for us living in Michigan. We could drive and it only took us about 3 hours on the road.
Hi Neighbor! Glad you made it here for the travelogue, but do be careful driving next time. The roads have been terrible, although right here in Grandville, we are clear..thus far, lol. My son works in Holland and has to make that daily trek..not good.
Maybe someday, we can meet up if you are going to be here at the Mall for shopping or something. At least to say Hello, this is ME! LOL
Hello, Grammy! So nice of you to stop by my page. And, yes, we will get along just fine! We have 1 cat ~ "Sparky". His mother was rescued from a fire and we adopted one of her babies from the vet hospital. His name is in keeping with the fire theme. We had just had our previous cat put down. He was 16 years old and diabetic. We gave him 2 insulin shots a day for the last 2 years of his life.
We would never have anything but a male Tabby cat because of the "Legend Of The Tabby Cat". I am a public speaker and often use it when I speak at Christmas time. If you would like to hear it just let me know and I will give you the short version. Cheryll
