From the Adirondack Park Agency website (www.apa.state.ny.us):
"The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 by the State of New York amid concerns for the water and timber resources of the region. Today the Park is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, greater in size than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park combined. The boundary of the Park encompasses approximately 6 million acres, nearly half of which belongs to all the people of New York State and is constitutionally protected to remain “forever wild” forest preserve. The remaining half of the Park is private land which includes settlements, farms, timber lands, businesses, homes, and camps."

I live in rural NY state and love the peace, quiet, and truly spectacular scenery. I'm quiet and reserved until I get to know you. I have 2 grown boys and 3 furbaby companions, a golden retriever, a labrador retriever, and a stray kitty.
WHAT I LIKE
dogs, cats, children, crisp fall days, good friends, road trips, good conversation, the return of spring, walks with friends and my dogs, digital photography, my computer, quiet summer evenings out in the yard
Thank you for say hi.... it has been raining here for sometime .... lot of people in Brisbane have lost there home;s in this rain storm...we hope it will stop soon ...as much as we need the water ...god bless ....Brigitte .
I'm so glad you are enjoying the photos. I am very proud of my daughters love of photography. It's the one time I sincerely enjoy saying "I TOLD YOU SO" LOL. It comes in handy with her job too. Lenoir Preserve is located in Yonkers on Northern Broadway, just past St. John's Hospital. It's a wonderful place and peaceful with fantastic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades. Wave Hill is within walking distance of us and another beautiful place. My granddaughter's photographing everything as she walks with her mother too LOL. Central Park Zoo is nothing like it was when I was a child. Back then there were gorillas and tigers in big iron cages. I remember the gorillas were Carolyn and Gwendlyn........they would drink from the hose and spit at the people watching them LOL How fortunate we are to be so near two Zoos. I most enjoy the Clearwater Festival at Croton every year. K was one of the photographers the past two years. They used much of her work in the programs this year. What a hoot!

I've just been through your daughter's gallery and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Of course I loved all the zoo pictures, but also the scenes from the city, so many of which I remember well. Most of all I enjoyed the Lenoir Preserve pictures (my kind of place) and don't know how I ever missed it, unless it is something that was developed after I left the area. Do you happen to know when that opened?
