I've enjoyed all the Harry Potter movies to date, National Treasure, all four of the Indiana Jones movies and many others. The latest movie I've seen and really enjoyed was "The Hunger Games." I can't wait for the next 2 in the trilogy!
MUSIC
The 60s rock! I do like some of the music from the 70s and 80s but after that, it's just noise as far as I'm concerned. LOL
BOOKS
Anything by Edward Rutherfurd, all things "Star Trek," and most sci-fi. I also read mysteries, especially "cozies." I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, by J. K. Rowling too. Last year I purchased an e-reader and have been enjoying purchasing books online and reading them on the reader. It was strange at first but I've gotten used to it now and haven't purchased a regular book in a long time!
MY FAVORITE COLOR
I love all shades of green. My birthstone is the peridot which is a lovely shade of green. My eyes are a greenish blue most of the time, but my ex-husband claimed they got a brilliant green whenever I got mad at him.
MY FAVORITE FOOD
I like almost any kind of food; probably listing my food dislikes would be quicker. LOL! However, a few of my favorites are a well-cooked steak, baked macaroni and cheese, a fresh garden salad, and for dessert, strawberry pie.
I'm a retired government employee and enjoying being out of the old rat race. I've been divorced for more years than I was married and I come and go as I please...which is very nice, to say the least.
My sister and I share a home in southern Indiana; we live in a semi-rural area - close to nature yet close to shopping too![/size]
WHAT I LIKE
I enjoy reading, mostly mysteries and science fiction. All things "Trek", especially The Original Series. I enjoy TV; reality shows, such as "Survivor", "The Amazing Race", and "Hell's Kitchen", and "CSI", the original one and the one in NYC. I also enjoy the public broadcasting channels as well as The History Channel.
My favorite flower and smell is lilacs; of course I like my cologne too. It's called Island Capri by Michael Kors, in case you were wondering.
I like people who can share with others by charity work, friendliness and sincerity.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE
I don't like people who pick on kids, senior citizens, and animals and I won't tolerate that kind of behavior. I like people who say what they mean and mean what they say.
HOBBIES
My main hobby for the last 18 years has been my computer, although I still crochet and read and do other fun things (when the pc doesn't have me in its clutches, that is!).
We all have ability. The difference is how we use it
Sorry my posts are so irregular. Have been sick. Have an acute upper respiratory infection, that has me sleeping a lot. Saw Dr. and now have some meds. Hope they hurry and work. Lots of love and hugs, Judy
As usual, I am woefully behind on getting back to my friends. Ack! I hope you're doing real well; Alice, too. We're doing okay here; Dennis has a sore shoulder but it's getting better. The temperature has dropped so it's about 45 degrees and we're getting rain. Alas, our sunny spring days have flown the coop...for now, and at least the next few days, apparently. So the grass and weeds will run amok in the yard and once it dries out we'll have plenty of work to do.
Son Nick has taken a couple of weeks off from work--just using some of his built-up vacation time. He has decided to try his hand at growing a beard. I have no idea what it will look like, as this is a first for him. He used to have long side burns when he was in high school, but that's been the extent of his venture into growing facial hair of any kind. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.
The wedding you went to sounded like it was real nice; I've never heard of having a photo booth at a wedding, but I think it's a nice idea. After all, the guests are all dressed up for the occasion, and why not get a few nice pictures to remember it? Sorry the wind made a mess of your hair--we get that a lot here so I tend not to worry about it overly much. If my hair has to stay looking nice then I resort to hair spray, though I hate how it makes my hair feel. All stiff and tacky--yuck. But sometimes it keeps you from looking like you got your hairdo by using a blender, so I use it if I have to. Or feel I have to, which is sorta the same thing, isn't it?
I'm with you. If I plant anything at all, I want it to be something that will last, not die off at the end of summer. Perennials just seem like a more frugal choice. Some annuals will reseed themselves, however, so if you know what you're doing (which I don't!), you can actually get a perennial effect with annuals. Of course you have to remember where the annuals were and not disturb the soil too much or you'll lose them. But what the heck...if it makes Alice happy to have those spots of color and she's willing to do the work of planting them...why not? You'll both get to enjoy them if the rains don't drown them before they can get a good toe-hold.
Dennis planted a bunch of corn the other day but now we're getting days of rain, so his plantings might be a wash. That's okay by me, because we really don't eat a lot of corn anyhow. And he bought THREE seed packets of the stuff...gee whiz!
It's too bad that the Boston bombings put a bit of a damper on the Derby festivities; but better safe than sorry. By now the race has been run and a winner crowned. I have no idea what horse won or by how much as I didn't see the race. I'm sure it was on TV...I just missed it, is all. I probably missed quite a few things. We had 18 channels go AWOL out of our satellite package. Had to call for repairs. The guy came out and replaced our receiver for the satellite--our model has become obsolete, apparently. He also replaced our dish. So everything is new...even the channel guide looks different. BUT...we sure have a much better picture now! The dish that got put up is HD ready so now we can watch some HD channels in HD. Pretty nifty.
One last note and then I'll scoot...it seems the rain (which has been steadily falling all day) has found a hole of sorts in our roof somewhere. It's dripping in my office. This spot has leaked before, but it hasn't since Dennis redid the roof. Time to tar all the valleys up there, I think. But not until it dries out again. Work, work, work...always something in this old house!
