2013*12*16*MONDAY EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Get your buns in here and warm up some. Started out at 30 deg this morning and now it's up to 40! And the barometer has been bouncing around like a yo-yo on a tennis ball. Sheesh!
Speaking of Yo-Yo's, that rotten Marv is at it again... Just because I called him my ''ongoing serial gotcha monster!" He is now threatening to be my worst nitemare! Do I see a pattern developing here????
Oh, I gotta tell ya about that rotten pair, the Anna and her Turkey! lolol I checked with her on the price of a bale of hay. Can use it to help keep the heat/warmth in the dog house. Well, those two rotten kids dropped off 3 bales of hay this morning... stacked it on the porch for me. Told me Merry Christmas as they left to go shopping?? Hmmm... I must ponder on this one... Never got a bale of hay for Christmas before. Should I send a return gift? A Thank you note? A '' how much do I owe you? Does this mean I must go out into the hay field to cut and bale 6 as payback? Oh, the problems that crop up around the holidays.
Not only that, I spent yesterday really trying to fill out the 'packet' thingy from SS. Now, not only am I dyslexic, I do not read legaleeze. And, I swear to you, that this thing is written in such a way that only the writer/creator of said document could/can read it. Not only that, I will need to write an extended numeric letter to explain what the answer to the question does not have room for. Grammatically incorrect, but I'm sure y'all get the idea.
I've been warned to not "bend the truth"... Now, number one!!! How can/could I lie if I don't know what I am being asked. Number two, If I sometimes cannot recall the truth, how in the hell am I expected to remember a lie? Hey, I am good, but not THAT good. Ask The Marv....lololol Now, him, you gotta watch! Gotcha again! lololol I seem to be on a bagel (ROLL) lolol
Speaking of the Marv... I rec'd a msg from him... telling me to watch my mail box? Now what is he up to???? I guess I'd better get out a warm blanket, my carry all basket and go out front to keep an eye on it... Could show my advertising ankle while I'm at it... lolol Oh well, maybe TMI or sumfin.
Then there is the beautiful card I received the other day from the Sherri Anne. She took the pic of Mt. Lassen on the front. And then wrote the loveliest comment. Also the font she used is the epitome of the Christmas spirit. Thank you, Brat. I am keeping it in safe place... hugs

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. And a special warm and heartfelt greeting to my brats who are in country and down range.
Well, the Marv and I are at it again but I am definitely ahead on the number of gotcha's I've nailed him with. lololol AW, tis the season...Maybe I should spare him a few minutes of ''nice''..... Nah, I don't think so! Maybe on New years day??
Do you kids have any idea of the effort it takes for me to be nice? Sheesh!
Well, some good news????? Maybe???? Envelope arrived Friday from the SSA. No letter, no offer of help, just a booklet type form and an envelope in which to return the form. Now, my questions... No note nor letter a slap in the face? Or does someone figure that I have enuf experience with SSA to know what I should do/write? Or that I have copies of this stuff from past go rounds? Who knows... But we are fighting the good/honest fight to keep my home and to still be able to eat.
I need to tell y'all how much I appreciate the gals who work for my Congressman, the Honorable Hal Rogers. SSLady called the other day to let me know I would be getting a packet from SSA. Did you know that I am a bad girl??? I did a couple of gotcha's on the SSLady. I loved it... by the time we hung up, we were both laffing. I DO live to torment.
And re to Mr. Rogers, I have never heard a bad word said about or against him. I am not kissing anybody's dignity here, I am telling the literal truth. He helps his people. And I do mean "his" people. Question: How many times have you seen your congressional Rep in your town? I thank you, Sir!
Now, to the pix. Hmmm... some of these are meant for Bobbi.. she and I both collect strange stuff... Any 1st pic is of a fossil that had washed into the creek down by Anna's..Her creek, by the way. Second is a mirror I found in a junk store... cleaned it up and painted apples and flowers on it. 3rd is a small bulletin board I threw together and decorated. Frame is a cabinet door that had no center. The board itself is from a piece of damaged cork board that I found somewhere.. The next 3 are redclay ware. And the last one is for Sneaky Pete Allen. My version of 'Freebird'.

EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS Sheesh! Get your buns in here right now! What're ya doing out there anyway?? It's cold, wet, miserable, stay inside, under the blankets, stay warm kind of day! Temp is floating at/around 28 right now. Most of the icy stuff has melted away on the grassy areas but I still have ice on the side porch! Another round of this stuff heading our way as we speak! However, the coffee is fresh and hot... help yourselves. AND, next time the weather is this miserable, bring some camping gear... like sleeping bags!
Been in frequent contact with the WX guys and gals. lolol I told one of the answerers that we were gonna' have to stop meeting like this... People are starting to talk..lolol I got dead silence and I cracked up! Gotta give the guy credit tho... he didn't hang up on me. Hey, it's bad enuf out there that all the dogs are inside. Oh joy!
Pix below are of the pond out back. Cam and me are not on the same wavelength yet but I am working on it. Three days ago, the bottom was exposed and dry. In the mean time, one of those white plastic yard tables got blown into the pond. It's upside down on it's top. Guess who didn't go out to drag it to the high ground?? Well, anyway, if you look closely you will just barely be able to make out one of the leg bottoms (just to the right of center) in pic number 3. The water level has dropped some because earlier today the leg was under the surface.
Here, for me, one inch of rain/water equals one foot of water in the pond. Those little running surface streams carry a lot of water... Ya suppose I should get busy cleaning up the arks for rental???
Another thing... Nobody bothered to tell me that the Homer was part mountain goat. Oh yeah! From the bed, to the nite stand, over the top of the cage and the next thing I know, we are eyeball to eyeball. Hmmm... Surprise, MOM!
Then, do you guys remember when I complained about the Newbie playing tetherball with my buns in the swing chair? Well, guess who has started doing the same thing!! Only difference is that the Homer grabs the bottom corner of my old bathrobe... pulls and tugs back and forth... and there I go... off into the wild blue yonder... lolololol

EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Get in here and dry off... I'll turn on the heater, wood burning electric???, Looks good, works but ain't real. lolol
Now, check this out. NO CHECK from SocSec on the 3rd. Sunday nite, my main puter crashed. Deader'n a door nail. My Visa account crashed. Listen up here!! DO NOT KEEP YOUR IMPORTANT RECORDS ON PUTERS. KEEP HARD COPIES!!!!! I have copies of sent/received since day one of rec'ving SocSec.
Anyway, I talked to a lovely lady at the office of my Representative in Congress, The honorable H. Rogers. In fact, I have been corresponding with two Ladies there. Both super people and so very helpful. I'm calling the one the SS Lady. Well, SSLady called and said she is waiting for the Supv in Jackson to call back.
And, I've sent the latest info requested by the USDA and am hoping for a 12 month moratorium. If I get an ok on this part, I will at least be able to eat and get my meds.
I am content. I've done all I know to do. I do have a last resort appeal if this one fails. Legal!! Have I mentioned that no one should ever demand my full and undivided attention. I am like an elephant! I DON'T FORGET. AND, i DON'T QUIT.
RE: the possible fire down wind of me... I seems conditions were just right for two separate and brand new wood burning furnaces to send out some smoke and odors. All ok down stream.
Lets see here, what else. Hmmm. I think I am in recovery mode right now. Gotta tell ya'll that the Marv called me yesterday. ... or the day before... sumfin. Anyhow, he nailed me with a totally unexpected gotcha. I responded with a minor three word phrase starting with S. ... Magic word here..unexpected. Well, apparently this response was considered a MAJOR gotcha. He laffed, whooped and hollered and then I got tickled at him giggling. Did you know that you cannot say a word if you are out of breath from laffing so hard??? lololol I really needed the laff tho... Thank you Brat.
I want to thank all of you who sent me fantastic and helpful messages when I was really down.

2013*11*28 TURKEY DAY - EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Welcome home, all my Turkeys, welcome home. Get in here and get warm! Sheesh, it's cold out there. No settin' on the back porch this mornin... too daggone cold! (and that is NO overstatement...18 deg's.
I should have called this blog "Turkey Tales from the Mountain". lolol... cause that's what it turned into... lolol
Now, let me see here... What do I have to be thankful for???? A LOT! My very own personal turkeys (mine) out there. The ones who torment the hell out of me on a daily basis...The ones I torment with gotcha's/back atcha's. That even tho I may stagger a bit from my balance problems, I can still find the stuff I've I've shoved into the attic between my ears.
I am no longer surprised when I open the nuke machine and find the half gallon container of ice cream in it. Ditto when I open the freezer and find my coffee mug in there. But at least I didn't put a half a gallon of milk in the wall cupboard like Anna did. Nor did I put the cel phone in the fridge. lolol (I think this is only because I don't use one.)
It no longer bothers me (that's a LIE) when I arrive in the kitchen and have no idea why I am there. When I am forced to turn around and retrace my steps. That I must repeat out loud why I am going to the kitchen... Do I feel stupid or what??? Oh yeah!
And then, there was the day when I couldn't find my coffee mug. I looked this house over, in the fridge, cupboards, under the sink. You name it, I looked. Even in the basement. I finally gave up. Complained mightily on the NEWS. And a friend out there in cyber space sent me an email..."it's on the back porch"... and it was!!! How di she do that!?!
Just warmed up the coffee and let the dogs out. It is absolutely gorgeous out back. The sun is up over the mountain...shining on the ice and snow. Everything is covered with sparkling diamond dust. Wow! AWESOME!!!!!!!

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Get in here and get comfy. Gonna get downright cold tonite. Don't know if you noticed the gotcha's passing back and forth between Allen and me. lolol
Years back, we were sort of neighbors over by Cow Creek. lolol His African Grey parrot was a real character also was a finely tuned attack bird. And yes, Allan is a Sneaky Pete type. lolol He is one of the two people who can shut down and ''disappear'' and never move a step. I've always been aware of all the people in my surroundings Not with Allan tho. think I already told y'all about the time at the post office. lolol
Anyway, he's had his AGrey for a while. And at one time, I had a double yellow headed Panama. He came with the name Pedro. I know that I have pix of him somewhere around here but do you think I can find a one of them???? I don't think so but I WILL keep looking.
Anyway, Pedro was my Christmas present that year. And, he was mine... totally mine. He tolerated everybody else but he loved MOM best. He would sing ''a taste of honey'' along with me. The canary would sing the harmony when I would play the guitar. Truth!! So help me! Smokey, the german shep would sing along sometimes too. Smoker would climb up on the couch next to me and the duets would just appear.
Back to Pedro...He loved to sit on my left shoulder. Had to watch him every second tho. He would lean down, steal my cigs out of my shirt pocket and then shred them. He'd also drink my coffee...preen my lips after eating hot dried peppers (now, that was a lot of fun). Fell into my bowl of mushroom soup one time...
The best tho... My dearly departed ex came roaring up the basement steps. Was really angry and carrying on... Who?? Messed with my stuff... on and on. Well, ex was heading into the kitchen... paused in the yelling to take a breath. Just that quick, Pedro clearly and loudly said: "Go to hell"! I fell on the floor, the ex shut up and started laffing too. Pedro had a perfect sense of timing. He also spoke Spanish and one of his routines involved children playing in the distance..Mother calling one of the children. I taped him sometimes...playback was very clear and delightful. I DO miss that bird. He would lay on his back and I would hold him like a baby. He loved to be tickled on the belly and would sing to himself when he took his baths. lolol

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Get your buns in here and grab some coffee or sumfin... just made a fresh pot. Wonders will never cease. No activity from the coffee gremlins today... so far.
Sorry bout this, but I must talk about some of the bad stuff going on in our Country today. I may still lose my home.... and some are NOT going to like what I have to say today.
Maybe I should ask questions instead of making statements...Whatever! OK, how many people, vets, relatives, actives, retired, disabled do you know that are having ''government funding'' problems...??? People who have worked all their lives? People who have fought, given their lives, physical and mental health to defend the American People??
I am sure you are aware of my problems with the USDA and SocSec. I can overlook the USDA situation because it was mainly a communications/understanding situation. However, I do not feel the same way about SocSec. And NO, I do not blame or have hard feelings towards the lower level gov workers. They have little to no choice about what they do or how they do it.
NOW, here is my main question: Don't you consider it a little strange that all of these who have given all they have to keep America on top, now are being penalized by reductions in SS payments. (Mine is NO DOLLARS UNTIL I REPAY $5,383 OF SUPPOSED OVERPAYMENT)
PEOPLE I KNOW....disabled vet... reduced income and wife's SSI been reduced.. will not be reimbursed for med expenses (to which they are entitled)
Man/injured vet/100% disability. Wife and children. 100% reduced and is forced to travel many miles to get updates.
Older vet...Out of country...Should have received a tax return for 2012 in 2013 has been notified will be next year sometime before he receives refund.
MY QUESTION.... IS OUR GOVERNMENT BROKE? IT THERE NO MONEY ANYWHERE FOR THE ONES WHO DESERVE AND HAVE WORKED FOR THEIR RETIREMENT INCOMES?
In my opinion, most our ''leaders'' have failed to protect the very people who believed in them, the pols, to office. To me, it appears that most of the pols/parties have been tripping over their own egos instead of looking to the welfare of the electorate.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Temp says 41 but I think the thermo is having a hot flash or sumfin. Get in here and warm up. Wowser.. just saw an island being born off the coast of Japan! Amazing!
Well, it seems today is going to be one of those ''odds and ends'' days. Let's see here...
First, let me tell you I cracked up at the 'Jingle Bells" commercial. I wasn't offended at all. Maybe because I worked with men for so many years. Believe me, if cops, firefighters, emer reponders trusted you, almost anything went. God help you if they liked you as well. And like elephants, they NEVER forgot.
One winter, I pulled into the ice covered lot... This is back when I was driving the Datsun. (Boy was I cool) I gathered all my junk, got out of the car, shut the door and found myself on my back ... UNDER the Datsun. Now, wait a minute?!?! lolol Did I worry that I might have been hurt, damaged, Where the hem of my skirt might be? I don't think so! Please God, don't let anybody see me under here. PLEASE!!!
Well, this time, I lucked out. Somehow, I got out from under the car... Stood up and made my way into Hq. Nobody spotted me... The ''ever professional'' emom.
Then, I checked in with Faye. She answers the phone: "Where you been, you old heifer?'' Well, I cracked up and then made up a new, for me, word. "I've been heiferring!" Well, the conversation went downhill from there... lolol And let me tell you, you'd best be careful when you use (loosely) the term... cause it can mean a lot of different things. Would these innocent green eyes make this stuff up? Nah, not in this case. lolololol
Another thing, lolol. I usually have the tv on just for some companion sounds in the background. I have become addicted, sort of, to Pawn Stars. Kind of puts me in mind of my work days...jokes, spats, gotcha's, set-ups... all sorts of stuff when we weren't busy on emergencies and report calls. Can you tell that sometimes I miss those days? And with Pawn Stars, I even learn new stuff about all kinds of items. Love learning!

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Get in here and get warm. Help yourself to the goodies.. Y'all who've been here before, please help those who have not. Only rules around here? Play nice..No feed the critters from the table and NO food fights... Maybe I'd better add 'enter at your own risk'... lolol
Just a short note on the latest about house and SS. Still waiting to hear from SS. and to be honest, I gave up for a couple of days. Looked at the easy way out but didn't do it. A some very good friends kept me going. Got to say that you might expect the 'friends' to be kind and sympathetic. Boy, would you all be wrong. lolol It doesn't make sense, maybe, but for me it works! So, if I appear to be down in the dumps, depressed and really sad, treat me like the Marv does.... Send me tacky punny gotcha jokes.
Then, LJ sent me lists of childrens' replies to some school days questions. Oh my word! I fell out of my chair. And then there was Anna and El... lolol Once upon a time ago, El decided he was going to fly in migrations. lolol We, Anna and I, decided that he needed some tail feathers to help him maintain his altitudes. It, the situation, has gone downhill from there. You'd be surprised at how often his tail feathers become the main topic of conversations. Turkey tails... lolol
And then there is Patsy. She has been there for me too. Going out of her way to help. Now, Patsy's husband Bill is something else. I owe him a few gotcha's I bet. Then there's this huge list of friends/families here on FB and in the Courthouse... Sheesh, I best quit for now... I think I've been blessed by finding my home on my Lady of the Mountain.
Enuf of that... lolol Gots ta tell ya'll about the Homer.... The jet propelled Homer! Thank God he's not the size of the Newbie! I have more shreddeds all over the back side of the house! The bed room... Dust bunnies are ready to riot. Hallway, the furnace return is grumbling. (Yes, I know... dust bunnies, stuffing, dog hair, let me count the types) sheesh! He is cute tho... check out his pic below...lolol No, not that one... that's the El... Gotcha's...
