Evening Cheryl - it was pleasant here too - 85 and they said the humidity was high - 93, but it didn't feel like it to me. Of course I don't have any problems breathing but didn't think Ric did either. But he didn't go out till evening. Hung around the house and cleaned out the fridge and made dinner. Have a good nite
Here we are again, Monday. What shall we do this week? Water the yard and the plants again every day in front one day and in back the next day.
I can see out the window two of the hummingbird feeders. I see hummingbirds drinking and chasing each other around. Oh maybe I will go sit and watch them this morning.
But the sun is already shining too bright and the heat is already too hot to sit for very long even on the patio. Where is that North wind to cool us off?
So the next best thing is to find a dark and quiet spot to read a good book.
I think a steaming cup of coffee would be the best way to start this Monday off right.
Then find a steamy good book to read and the week is off on the right foot.
And hope the yard can make it one more day. I'll just give thanks for the beautiful sky above it.
A new week is beginning. I wonder where this last week of August will take us.
Let's start this day with coffee and breakfast. Why does everything taste better on a Sunday?
Doesn't that make your mouth water? I love peanut butter and jelly on toast.
I had such delicious strawberries this past spring. My plants look like they won't ever come back after this summer's high temperatures.
I just got this in an email, can you believe that we used more AC last year? Well, we did turn the thermostat warmer a couple of degrees. However, my water bill that just came was triple or more this year than last year.
However, after the summer we have had, we will be grateful for the lower temperatures and rain when it comes.
Hi there. I'm getting excited about the coming cool air that will be here this weekend. I'm so tired of the heat. We don't run out air conditioner at night, just the fans, so it can be warm in the bedroom at night even though we have the back door open so the air can come through the fan. Cool nights are a favorite of mine. How is the weather where you live? Well take care my friend and enjoy your afternoon. Hugs, Cheryl
I don't usually reply so don't really know what I'm doing - hope this comes through for you. I have central air conditioning but prefer fresh air so keep all my windows open all night & it stays pretty decent for temp all day. Our nights are finally cooler so fall is just aroung the corner. Bye for now, Loads of Love, Donna
I'll say happy Sunday Cheryl as it's after midnite Hope you are well and have had a good Saturday. Been quiet here - wanted to go shopping but didn't get there today - maybe tomorrow. It's been 92 for days but cooler weather is on the way as next week will be in the 80's all week. Hope it gets cooler your way too. Our friends are campig so we won't be playing dominoes tomorrow but that's ok with us as it gives us an entire weekend to oursellves. Have a good Sunday. Hugs, Wendy
Wow, I don't know if I could live with the kinda heat you have with no central air, Cheryl. I did it when I was growing up but not when I was an adult . I think you can stand the heat when younger but not older, but then I guess it depends on the person. I just know I don't think I could do it now. We spent 5 hours today going to Rich's doctors - we were 20 min late and had to wait an hour before they took us. Mainly because we couldn't find the place cause he didn't use the GPS - it's not like we haven't been there before but he thought he knew how to get there. We stopped at this fabulous place to eat on the way home - good prices, great food and we took half home with us. Was only home about 1 1/2 hrs before we went to the Moose and only stay till 9:30 as no one was there. One set of friends so after they left, so did we. Hope you had a great day despite the heat. It was hot here too - heat index 100. Have a good Saturday Cheryl. Hugs, Wendy
Why do Fridays feel so different? Just knowing that the weekend is upon us makes us go crazy.
You might be surprised to know how close that is to the truth. Or you might not be surprised.
So what are you doing today or this weekend that makes you Happy??? We have been watching Pre-Season Football and are anxiously awaiting College Football.
I hope you will be silly & happy and have some fun. Maybe you could call a friend and check on them. Tell them a story from the past and laugh out loud together. After all...
The weather here has been so nice these last couple of days - it's been in the low 80's and no humidity with a good breeze yesterday and again today. We run our AC 24/7 as turnng it off only heats everything up and then it cost more energy to cool them down again. It's better to keep it running - your hubby might think it will cost less money by turning it off, but it won't. Check with your local electric company. I might be wrong, but this is what our electric company puts out. Anyway I hope yoou get a break in the weather and things cool down for you soon. I have been in the house all day and only made the bed (do it everyth morning) folded a ton of whites and made dinner of chicken cutlets, gravy, fresh sliced tomatoes and corn on the cob. Such a good meal and one I like to have all summer long, swapping the chicken out for a steak. Hope you are able to sleep with just a fan in your kind of heat. I know it would be very hard for me to sleep when it's so hot in the room. Have a good nite and sleep well. Hugs, Wendy
What can we get into on this fine Thursday? You know we are closing in on another weekend.
We could go to the beach and watch the water ebb and flow as the sun comes up to begin the day.
How about a sail boat ride under the Golden Gate Bridge? I guess California, Nevada and other states are still dealing with Hillary so maybe that isn't a good idea.
Not sure if it is still this beautiful, but Crater Lake is so much fun to ride around on motorcycles. We did that many years ago.
I grew up in South Texas near Corpus Christ and it is beautiful. They got rain from Harold this week and what a Blessing it was for them.
The rain was still 300+ miles from us but all of Texas has been needing the rain. Our turn will be soon. Please keep praying for us to get a nice gentle rain. Now let's do a Rain Dance, please.
Wednesday is starting off slow. I need more coffee. Do I really have to get out of bed today? I love watching a good movie in the late evenings and then reading some in my latest book.
Some days are purrfect to just stay in bed and read a good book like... How to Kill a Mockingbird or How to Catch a Mouse.
Now you know why we don't have a cat. However, we do have dogs that don't like anything to be in their backyard, squirrels, bunnies, birds, mice, rats or anything that moves.
Good thing hummingbirds are very small and very fast and our dogs have never caught one of them.
So on this "middle of the week", stay in bed, read a good book, and don't worry about anything else. If you can get away with that!
It felt like 95 here today but it wasn't. Must have been the humidity. Got a hair cut today - we both did. He looks 100% better and I look good too - got it trimmed and shapped. Got jeans in the washer that have been there all day - keep forgetting about them and need to put the whites in too. Oh well I'll be up for several more hours. Have to get up early tomorrow to help in the kitchen at the Moose. Did that this morning and have been tired all day. In fact I took a nap later in the day. Probably will be the same tomorrow. Hope you have a good nite. Hugs, Wendy
Good Morning! I thought I was going to have to work today, but Jody's jury duty summons was canceled. So here I am to check on you.
August 3rd, Nicole got her Texas Drivers License. Her new TDL card is already in her possession.
Yesterday, August 21st, Will got his Texas Drivers License. What a wonderful month it has been.
I'm trying to remember when I got mine and I can't remember that far back. But I was so excited when Wayne got his and I could just toss him the keys and say... Go get us some milk!
Y'all better look out on the roads. I do remember the first (shortly after I got my TDL) and the last (leaving the Ranch about 30 years ago) time I took the bottom out from under the car I was driving.
