May you have a glorious spring day. The Monday is starting out with some rain showers as the lilac bushes are starting to bud out more and more around the yard. My my what a breathtaking site to see as one waits for the flowers to show up and smell the lilacs as spring comes in more and more. Smiles Gloria
Spent about 3 hours outside this morning, taking pictures, reading my kindle, talking to God, facetime with friends, and of course...
hummingbirds! That is one of my males. I also have several females. While sitting on the patio I heard lots of airplanes. I have an app called Flightradar24. I had more than 15 airplanes around our area at one time.
Nice weather and very little wind must have everyone out today. One that I clicked on said Dallas to Teterboro. So I followed the flight path and Teterboro is in New York. We have a helicopter repair business less than 2 miles from our house and so we always hear them coming and going. This app is lots of fun. Guess I had better go get our meal of the day cooking.
Sure wish you were here to relax and have a sip of lemonade. Blessings & Hugs! Thanks for your friendship!
We got another 6/10" rain today so that puts us over 3.5" for this week. What a way to start May! You can see the water standing in our creek that runs through our yard when we get lots of rain.
The worst part of a rainy day is doing inside chores instead of being outside with my hands in the dirt. At least I can take a break and visit with you; however, I hear that whip cracking. And I want to be able to finish before Friday gets here.
May the fourth be with you! I hope you had just a wonderful day. I bought a few groceries this morning and Hubby cut up some tree limbs to put in our trash can. Then we went to Elmo, Texas for lunch.
And we wanted to see the Transformer. So Elmo is just a spot in the road on an older highway (Hwy 80) that was replaced years ago with I-20. But we went for the cheeseburgers too!
Now we are waiting for more storms to move in between 10 pm and 4 am with rain possible through 3 pm tomorrow. Blessings & Hugs for you and your family as I am swimming off to find something else to do today. OK, as I go looking for Trouble, my middle name.
Most of the DFW area got rain last night and early this morning. We had 2" between 4:30 and 6 am. There was no sleeping through it as the thunder was loud and the dogs were NOT happy.
Now we have blue skies and it is a beautiful morning. We will have more rain over the next four days and by the weekend we will be in the mid 90's. WHAT? The wind is 20mph right now and the forecast says it will be windy tonight.
Let's just make this a great month no matter what the weather is and have some fun. School will be out soon and vacations will be happening.
Let the dancing and the blessings continue! So glad we are friends! Hugs!
May flowers! I have so many more than this group and love sharing them with you. Do you remember picking flowers for your Mom? I love the variety of flowering plants in my yard.
These are called Teal We Meet Again. Boy, look at those dry and old hands! You can surely tell they love working outside and need more hand cream. The mower was running again yesterday but Hubby is so sore all over his body.
Last night after 11 I was outside again taking pictures of some of my solar lights. Then I got up before 6 am to enjoy the cool front that got rid of our humidity (which was already back before noon). This reminds me, it is almost time for Texas Longhorn baseball.
May Day and Sunday blessings and hugs coming your way as I dance outside and back inside today. Hope you will join me!
Saturday is here and our rain chances seem to have gone away until Sunday night. Today Hubby is taking another shot at getting the new drive belt on the riding lawn mower.
The belt replacement on the mower deck was completed yesterday, but the drive belt has been a challenge even after many youtube videos. Please say a prayer!
I thought I would share a picture of the front of our home. I replaced some of the solar lights that were old. The cross and the light on it makes this one of my favorite pictures.
This is one of my newest additions to put up in the backyard. A solar hot air balloon wind spinner. Yes I have many different balloon wind spinners. Anyway, I guess I had better go check on Hubby and get a few things done today.
The Lord has blessed us again. Our septic alarm went off at 4 pm yesterday and we called for them to come out this morning to check it. It only cost us a service call to repair a wire (not a new pump $$$).
Now we are getting on with our projects... which may include music and reading! So here is wishing a beautiful weekend for you and your family!
Good morning to you on this glorious day! I went to lunch yesterday with Kelly and Angela. What a blessing! Then we voted on the 2 amendments in Texas as early voting started this week. After that we walked Costco, got Hubby's prescription and a few items on our list.
I do love her expressive eyes! Yes we are working outside today, pulling weeds, getting brush cut up to put in trash cans for pick up tomorrow, and checking to see if any new seeds have burst out above the soil yet.
Hubby is already in for a water break and to let his screaming legs have a rest. Yes, I have dirt under my fingernails already (didn't take time to put gloves on) and now I am sending you "Blessings & Hugs" as I head back outside. Come on over! You are always invited. We can play in the dirt or just sit on the patio and watch the hummingbirds!
I planted 8 pots of flower seeds and mowed with bagging it all front and back. We had about 10 large bags of grass and weeds. Then I went to Brahms for milk and Rosa’s for taco salad. Perfect weather from 46 to 73 today!
Tomorrow I am having lunch with a couple of the girls. Then I have to go to Costco to pick up Hubby's prescription and pick up a couple of things. Can't wait to share my smile with others.
About 3:30 am I woke to a vibrating dog who does NOT like thunder and lightning! It is one of my favorite things! The Rain Angel left us with 1-1/2" of blessed rain. Oh how my plants are singing praises today!
So as we say goodbye to April showers, we say hello to May flowers! (Thanks Anne for the graphic) Blessings from above! And an added bonus of a cool front. We are in the 60's today and should start Taco Tuesday in the upper 40's.
For this last week of April whether it is filled with cold or hot or dry or wet just add smiles and enjoy it.
Happy Earth Day! My seeds are soft but haven't sprouted yet. I did get some pots ready to put them in and got another bunch of pots out of the storage building.
Even with high winds, spring flowers are blooming. Hydrangeas, Gardinas, BlueBonnets, Triple Iris, and Roses. And so many, many more... Hummingbirds are loving it!
So I am sending you Blessings and Hugs for the weekend ahead with our windows closed and air conditioner running as I am off to smile even if it is just at the Hummers!
Another chilly start to the day but things are changing. This week we will be in the mid to upper 80's and winds of 30mph with gusts for the rest of the week.
Now as someone who took Algebra, Trig, etc. a million years ago and as someone who still loves to work with numbers (excel) even today, I don't get the new stuff. How about you?
By sharing your smile, you can be a blessing and help someone else who might be dealing with troubles.
Many of you have seen this already but I still have to share my family. We had a great time yesterday. We ate Hard 8 BBQ (brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, fried okra, beans, blackberry cobbler) and we had so much fun just visiting.
And of course, the first thing I had to do was put on new nails before I could leave the house. May not have makeup on, but I have to have nails done! I got pictures from several friends... grandkids with Easter bunny, flowers blooming, jokes. So do you have any pictures to share?
Whatever you do this new week, SMILE and share your smile with everyone you see.
I have actually had to water the hanging baskets. They dry out so fast in the wind and sun. But isn't this a glorious time of year.
In between working in the yard, I sit on the patio to rest and watch for hummingbirds. I can identify at least 3 different ones so far this year. Of course my favorite is the male with the black head and the ruby throat (especially when the sun hits him just right).
Now if I can just keep the dogs out of the flower beds and stop them from digging in the mulch. I find it everywhere. But then they look at us with those puppy dog eyes and I just go rake the mulch back into place.
I guess they are enjoying spring as much as we are as they run, jump, dig and bark at everything. So don't forget to share your smile.
Here we are, another Friday; but not just any Friday. Only God is truly "good". I am sending extra blessings to you and your family this special weekend. May you reflect on the sacrifice for our forgiven sins.
Weather was just about perfect here yesterday temperature wise. I did break a slight sweat in the sun but the breeze made it nice. Today isn't bad either even though the clouds have moved back in. So working outside again today I should not get hot. Hope your weekend is exceptional too! Blessings and Hugs!
The rainbow last night at about 7:30 pm was the second one in two days, the 12th & 14th. Then we had marble size hail this morning at 8 am and marble size hail again as the cool front came through at noon.
The temperature dropped from 85 to 70. My car is in the garage and Hubby's car is under the carport. This morning it rained for about an hour and we had 1/2" and this afternoon we were right on the edge of the storm.
Do you see the horse head too? In a matter of minutes after the hail stopped the sun was back out and shining to make the most perfect spring day.
And the storms were off in the distance. We are so Blessed again and again. I hope you are having a beautiful Spring day too.
Have you ever colored eggs... fancy? How long has it been since you colored eggs at all? Me, forever! I can't even remember the last time.
This picture was from yesterday when we finished the main big bed in the center of the yard. We did 5 flower beds and used all 30 bags of mulch. Three of the beds had to be weeded or cleaned out before we could put mulch down. I will send a picture when all the cute things are put back in this bed. We did get the plastic taken off of the makeshift greenhouse and folder & put away for winter.
There is still so much more to be done. But it will be a little at a time now that the heavy lifting is done. My knees are SCREAMING and Hubby hurts all over. What a trouper he is and I am so blessed! Tornado Watch just issued and storms heading this way could have lime size hail.
Did you or have you ever done an Easter Egg Hunt? My DIL, Evelyn, did her first one Palm Sunday. There were different fields set up for different ages including adults. Wild and loud grown ups!
It wouldn't really be Easter without baby chicks now would it? We are getting ready for more storms. Today we are trying to get mulch put down in flower beds. 10 bags done and 10 more on the way. I'll let you know if we survive.
