Now this is NO joke! I have about 16 clocks that have to be changed forward and backward every year. That doesn't count the iPhones, iPads, iWatches, and Apple computers that change automatically.
Today I thought I would share pictures of our yard. As I sit in the computer room, the window to the left of the front door, I keep hearing the squirrels jump on the roof from the tree farther left but not in picture and run across the roof. This picture was taken right after our first 1/2" of rain. We had at least 1-1/2" over 2 days and today there is no water standing in this flower bed.
This picture is facing NNE across our backyard. You can see the patio, table and rocking chairs which is one of my favorite places in the world. In the center of the picture is where the tree fell down that we had to cut up & get rid of earlier this year. On the right is a flower bed we made in the middle of the yard.
In this WNW facing picture, you can see the cement we poured many years ago and the PVC frame with a lattice top to protect plants from burning up in the direct hot sun of Texas summers. Soon we will get out our sheet of plastic that goes behind the plants and covers them all. All the hanging baskets will go under there too. There are flood lights that we turn on in freezing weather to help keep plants warm. Yes, I have a few BIG plants in BIG pots and I had already moved 3 of them under the carport.
In this SW view, you see Hubby's shop (the carport is attached to the front of it, out of view to the right). You also see one flower bed alongside the shop and another flower bed we made in the middle of the yard. Unseen behind the chines to the right is a small flower bed with 4 rose bushes in it. The summer breeze blows the rose scent across the patio.
This angle shows the fence and all the things hanging on it as well as the wind spinners in the middle of the yard flower bed. There is another flower bed on the left that has hostas, ornamental pink grasses, flowers and one large Yellow Rose bush that in summer is FULL of roses.
Of course, I can't leave without the beautiful blooming Angel Trumpet that came from Cricket. I hope you enjoyed your tour and that you know if you are ever in the Dallas area, you are welcome at our home!
Snow has fallen and more to come next week so I just had to get one of the winter puzzles out to relax my being. Puzzles have always been a calming effect on me since my childhood days. Now that was just the other day. Ha Ha My how the years go by enjoying the moments what ever it will give you.
I am having a nice spot of New England Coffee called Caramel Pumpkin at the moment while chit chatting abit with you. May your day be ever so nice to you as you do your daily duties. Snow flake come down anytime ,if you please. Smilies Gloria
Ok, so yesterday when it was in the 80's, I might have tried to blow a leave in the air. It didn't work so I vacuumed them all up in the mower and bagged them for trash pick up.
Now today, we started in the mid 50's and that is our high until maybe Friday. What? We are going to have 2 nights in the mid 30's. What? Don't you know that Texas doesn't get that kind of weather until maybe December or more likely January? And last year we had 2 below for the first time EVER. I know, it is all this global warming!
So I guess it is time to trim some trees for firewood (we don't have a fireplace inside) or turn the heater on for two evenings since inside our house is still 75° right now. And just admit that...
for a few days. I sure hope some of you survive the early snow this year as that usually waits until February in Texas if it happens at all. So Blessings and Hugs from me and all the beautiful Monarch Butterflies in our area. My video of one yesterday was magnificient!
Nancy, we went early today to pick up Tacos at Rosa's (only $10.80 every Tuesday) before the heavy rain gets to us. Probably will stay home tomorrow because of cold rain.
Where did the weekend go? How am I going to work in December and get anything done? Ok, so I didn't get anything done this weekend either but... I have missed you.
It does take a village. Hubby and I work so well together. Yesterday I said we need to get this done and looked at him and repeated we. He said, "I know, you think it up and I do it. That is we." TEAMWORK.
This is how we feel this afternoon. Yes, we have a big yard (3/4 acre) but it used to only take us a couple of hours. Now after most of the day, we are whipped and I think Rbt's back is out. TEAMWORK.
He will probably call the chiropractor tomorrow if he thinks he can get in the car so I can drive him. TEAMWORK.
I will have to start getting ready today. Now you all know it takes a while to look this good. And that too is TEAMWORK.
hi nancy, hope your porc got painted, will look like new once again. hope you had your catfish lunch and looking forward to a nice supper. sunny here all day, was so welcome. hope you have a nice weekend nancy. hugs, moe
Friday! My goodness where did the week go? Last weekend in October! Where did the month go?
OK, so maybe I have been soaking in the tub (I never take a tub bath, just shower). And maybe I got my new Halloween nails on today after my shower and in between cooking ribeyes and french fries.
Now, what do you think? I am going to tell you that I love them. I put on the ColorStreet color "Moscow or Never" and then added the clear top with spiders & webs.
I had already painted my toes, but I liked it so much that I added a spiderweb to each of my big toes. And it really takes less time than when I used to do my own color.
Trick or Treat? What goodies do you have? I am seriously thinking about relaxing a little more today before the doorbell starts ringing this weekend.
And the book I am reading is so good. I can't wait to see my neighbor as Robin and his best friend as Batman.
HELLO NANCY, MY DAY HAS BEEN WITH RAIN ALL DAY AND HEAVY TOO. CHILLY HERE AS ONLY RAIN CAN DO. HAD LUNCH WITH A FRIEND TODAY, WAS HILITE OF MY DAY. HAVE A NICE FRIDAY AND MAYBE A CATFISH LUNCH. HUGS, MOE
Yes, there are some days that I wish I still drank. Today I would really like a drink.
Our wind is sustained at 28 mph with gusts from 40-50 mph. So even walking to the mailbox is dangerous. Live limbs are breaking and falling from trees.
We had to pick up something in Rockwall this morning and I thought the car door was going to snap my legs off when I got my feet on the ground. And yes, I was hanging on to the door handle as a gust threatened to blow me away.
So I am going back to cooking up some dogs... no, no... cooking up something for the dogs. And then...
I think I will relax for a while. Maybe read a good book from my Kindle in a tub of warm (not too hot) water. What about you?
We always try to add things to the grocery list before they become urgent... but, how can we be out of milk? Well, I had to meet the 2 ladies at work this morning for breakfast so milk is now back in our house.
But guess what... there was a reason for a breakfast "butter up". I am working most days in December. Crazy Tisha is moving to East Texas so I will work with Kelly until she can find a replacement. I love working when they need help and I know it won't be forever. So I am excited but also very sad!
So we got 8/10" rain early this morning as the front came through and it was fairly slow and soaked in. Now the sun is shining and at noon we are only 62°.
Just makes me feel like dancing!
What are you cookin' up for this weekend? I sure hope it is something fun and tasty. As soon as you are done cooking and putting up all the decorations, why don't you relax.
After all, you deserve it. So enjoy the rest of the week and the weekend and the kids (ding dong) ringing your doorbell. Because it just might be me ringing your doorbell.
We had rain all day here in Buffalo too. Very gloomy day and Monday was too. We sure did have a nice summer though. Hope tomorrow is a better day in the weather department :)
HI THERE NANCY, HOPE YOU WILL HAVE A REALLY NICE WEDNESDAY AS OCTOBER COMES TO A CLOSE. ALWAYS WAS MY FAVORITE MONTH. DO HAVE A GOOD DAY, AND BE WELL. HUGS, MOE
Today I thought I would share some of my recent sky pictures. All I do is take them and I don't doctor them or enhance them.
The first one was taken from my front yard in the evening. The second one was taken in my backyard early one morning. When I see a beautiful sky in the early mornings, I hop, yes hop, up and have to hurry because I know in a matter of minutes, the bright colors will be gone.
I took this one one Sunday evening and was surprised to find a thunderstorm on radar. We didn't get a drop of rain even though we watched the radar with hopeful hearts for almost an hour.
As I turned around, this is what I saw above our house. Another beautiful cloud creation. Isn't God amazing.
So I hurried to the back yard. These clouds aren't as bright because it was a setting sun on the other side of our world. Yet it was equally as different and beautiful in it's own way.
Yesterday, as I was watering dry plants, I noticed something flew overhead. There were 3 or 4 buzzards. This one sat on our neighbor's roof for about 30 minutes.
As I finished up watering, I noticed that my poinsettias were turning red. I have 3 plants from probably the last 2-3 years. One of the plants was stuck in the back and has no red on it yet so I moved it to the front. But this is another sign that we are closing in on Thanksgiving, So I will say...
