We are one of the lucky ones with electricity back on, haven't lost water, and no broken pipes. However, we are only 26 this mid Friday morning. I still have lots of friends with no water or boil water advisory. Most, not all, have electricity. So many businesses, hotels, and homes with broken pipes. Store shelves are empty and gas stations are too. Trucks have not been able to get here to refill anything.
We were above freezing a degree or two yesterday with the sun which started snow melting. Then got to 15 last night which has made the roads icy. The sun is shining today and by Monday we are hoping the snow will be gone. We have so much to be thankful for today!
So I thought I would share with you some of our fun pictures. Hope you can view the links and I anxiously await your responses.

We lost electricity early Monday morning about 2:30 am and went 14 hours without any. At about 36 hours we had only had maybe 5 hours of power. Now we are in rolling blackouts but the entire time we have been able to stay warm. However, a cousin in Arlington has had no electricity since early Monday morning, as do hundreds of thousands of people in Texas. My friend in Alice, near Corpus Christi, not only hasn't had electricity since early Monday morning, but now they have no water as the pumps are out and are supposed to boil water (with no electricity). Needless to say...
Again, we are OK right now. But please keep people all over in your prayers because so many are hurting from pipes bursting and destroying their homes, from homes catching on fire and dying from carbon monoxide poisoning (I think 18 children were admitted yesterday).
Our area has had around 6-8" of snow and most businesses are closed. There are warming stations set up all around. As the power will let me, I will read your messages as they cheer me up.
How are you fairing? Stay warm and take good care of yourself and check on your neighbors. Blessings & Hugs!
I feel so sorry for all the birds and animals that live outside. Everything is frozen solid. Where do birds, horses, etc. get a drink of water? There are so many birds in the trees and at the bird feeder. I am sending to everyone...
OK. I feel sorry for you and especially for myself. I am FREEZING! We lowered the temperature inside by 2 and I don't like it.
Yesterday was just awful in DFW. Ended up with a total of 136 cars and trucks in one crash, 30 people injured and 6 fatalities. That does not speak to any of the other wrecks. But today is a new day.
And yet, the Winter Fairie is not done with us yet. Hubby made it to his Glaucoma doctor and is heading back now. He will probably pick up bread since we are into setting records this February. We might get close or even break the over 200 hours below freezing record. And Monday is another front with snow showers due. Thank goodness it is President's Day, a holiday for some people and some schools. The good news is that the weekend starts in just a few hours. So...
As you probably guessed, we are staying in until at least Tuesday. Blessings & Hugs!
REAL COLD HERE NANCY, DARE NOT GO OUT , WINDY TOO AND FROM THE NORTH, MAY GET SOME MORE SNOW WHICH i DON'T LIKE AS i LIKE TO TAKE MY CARE OUT EACH DAY. TAKE CARE HAVE A GOOD FRIDAY AND VALENTINES DAY TOO. HUGS, MOE
I know a lot of you are really cold and have a lot of snow and I pray everyday that you are safe and healthy. Please pray for Texas. Texans do not handle icy conditions at all and they all think they can drive in it. This morning most major highways in DFW are closed somewhere on it due to a fatal wreck. There are areas where people are trapped in their cars and can't get out because of so many cars around them. A report of one person who got out of his car and was hit by a car sliding into him and it killed him. There is an area where 70-100 cars were piled up. I know some of you have this in winter but we just are not used to it in our area. There are 18 wheelers hanging off of bridges. It is so sad.
We have been below freezing for 2 days now. Our next cold front is Friday and we will drop below freezing and stay there for 4-7 days. Single digits are due for a couple of nights. Our pipes are not prepared for this and I worried about so many people out of work being able to afford the electricity. So thank you and please stay safe and warm.
Did you buy City of Girls? or get it free sometime? It is expensive on Amazon now, $11.99. I only do free books from BookBub.com . I just refuse to pay since I have over 5,000 free ones to read.
Busy week for me. Yesterday hubby and I started a project and 5 hours later we were at a stopping point, so we quit for the day. Today, Ole Man Winter surprised us 12-15 hours early. So we had to bring in plants, throw the plastic over some and cover others. Then we had to go to drop off our tax information and thanks to "illness in that area," for the first time ever, we couldn't wait while she did them, sign them, pay for them and be done. So who knows when we will hear from her and get our refund. After we picked up an order at the Vitamin Shoppe we came home with our WhatABurger taquitos. Several hours later, after researching Mac programs equivalent to Windows programs because some Windows programs don't work on iOS, I finally gave up and decided I had better get here to see what you have been doing.
Are you decorating for winter? Or has winter decorated for you already? I know that it will probably get us once or twice in the next 7-10 days. Do you ever feel like this?
I do believe this is how our area handles everything nowadays. Just don't forget our pets and feathered friends. Blessings & Hugs!
