Wonderful Wednesday to you! Another picture-perfect day in my area. I have almost completed my to-do list and, when I do, my afternoon will be free. Might just have to do a bit of swing-sitting on the porch later. Can't let these beautiful days go to waste. How is your day and what are you doing? Make time to soak in all the good stuff! Darlene, we no longer have an Applebee's. Ours seemed to have gone downhill and was kind of junky. We have Chili's and I do love that. My drink of choice is a tall, ice-cold glass of unsweetened iced tea. I know that sends most people into instant gag mode. I acquired a taste for unsweetened tea years ago while trying to lose weight. Now I'm a chubby who still drinks it. Can't say it's been a boon to my svelte body but it has to help somehow. I used to drink Coke like it was going out of style. It was awful how addicted I was. I stopped cold turkey and had headaches for days due to lack of caffeine. So though I'm not opposed to mixed drinks in moderation, I pretty much stick to tea these days. I know....I'm boring.
The end of October is closing in and Halloween is near. Can you believe it, Darlene? If it were cooler here it'd seem more like it. Nearing 80ΒΊ this week... π *hugs*
Find simple moments, and the joy of little things today, dear Darlene. Saturday is our football game day (college football). Don't watch pro-ball games (Sundays), tho college ball is on its way there. BBQ is barbeque, and 'sammie' is sandwich. I type like I talk, I think. ha Just keep on asking! Hope you have a restful today, pal! *hugs* -di
I hope you are having a sweet Saturday. It is lovely in my area and I've hung out laundry and swept the back porch. Now I'm sneezing. But it's too pretty outside to cower indoors so I keep my handy-dandy stash of tissues nearby. What is going on at your house today, Darlene? My hubby is replacing the ignition switch on our Jeep so I'm just doing my thing while he works. Enjoy every minute of the day.
Yes, she's Beth777. It's her 3rd page, the 2nd being Tiggerific. She's safe. lol I feel the same way about rain. Some say its depressing, but I don't know that it's ever affected me like that. The house seems so cozy while the droplets fall:) Hope your week has been good to you. I need to get up from here and get my nappy head shampooed. It's too easy to put off, y'know? haha Take care, dear Darlene...
Have a fine, fruitful & fun Tuesday, Darlene! It's so refreshingly nippy outside, and sunny. Just to be in mid 60s today. Lawsy, compared to our summer temps... it's miraculous! ha Today is a 'no cooking' day and I feel happy about that. I don't mind cooking, it's just that occasionally I like a day off, ya' know. I'll probably pack up a few things this afternoon to take to our thrift store so I won't feel I've wasted a good day:) Wishing you well, my friend! *hugs*
Enjoy some rest and relaxation today in preparation for the week ahead. Here it is a gorgeous fall day and I need to plant some flower bulbs this morning; we found some while doing yard work and have no idea what they are. Looks like we'll be surprised if and when they come up, huh? Darlene, this year Dave and I made concrete pumpkins for our girls and for us. We bought those jack-o-lantern buckets for trick or treating and the same buckets only smaller then filled them with concrete. When set up (after a couple days) we cut off the plastic pumpkins and, voila! After Halloween, we can leave them out for Thanksgiving by turning them around so the jack-o-lantern face isn't facing out. The smaller ones I covered in fabric and Dave cut me some crape myrtle for the stems and they are for indoor decoration. Pinterest gives me so many ideas and projects, I'll never live long enough to do them all. HAHA As for cider, I'm sure some folks are more discerning than others when making it. We used to buy at a place in the mountains called The Cider Mill. You could watch it being made. Also there's a place up there called Grandad's we've gotten it from. Recently I've bought it at the grocery store. Probably small-time, homemade cider folks aren't as careful about the apples going in. GROSS!
Your new page is haunting, dear Darlene! I do love apple cider and am thankful I didn't witness what you did, or I'd have the same dislike for it. Yikes! So sorry, pal. Our game is on early this week (11:00a), so must get something out for us to eat while watching it. We're still like little kids, eating and watching TV. haha Have a delightful weekend, pal. *hugs*
We did get some rain after 'they' said we wouldn't. lol It drizzled 'manna' all night; the air smells so good this a.m. If you're dry, too, maybe this front will visit you. Wishing you abundant smiles & joy, dear Darlene:) *hugs* -di
We have made it to midweek. Has your week been good so far? Now we may start coasting toward the weekend; it's all downhill from here! Happy sliding! Darlene, I smiled reading about the acorns! We have that issue here, not with acorns, but with sweetgum cones. Little prickly balls that are the "fruit" of the sweet gum tree. Annoying little devils that cause you to trip and stagger and hurt like crazy if stepped on in bare feet. Between those and fire ants, I no longer go barefoot outdoors.
The Gulf is pushing rain into our state, but won't reach this far. If you're still dry, hope you're having better luck, Darlene. Thank you for you sweet comment. That musci drew me in, too, when I first heard it. ha Hope this week is being good to you, pal. Happy Wednesday! -di
I paid 9.00 for pumpkins here too at Lowe's a few weeks ago..and they are not that big. I had wanted to buy some up in the mountains , but since we are leaving for the beach next weekend, we probably won't get back to the mountains for a while. We dropped to 44 last night, but warmed up to 67. A bit warmer on Monday, and by Wednesday, 80. Indid get pansies planted yesterday. Will be buying another tray of them on Monday for neighbor, as she wants some out on her back deck. Where the kittys hang out..so the pansies prob won't make it out there.we will see how goes. Hope you enjoy the week ahead ππππππ
Good morning, Darlene! Do you have any special celebration/plans for your b'day? I hope YOUR day is special... like you, pal. Weatherman reported frost on the pumpkin this morning, and 34ΒΊ. It's Sunday, a day of serenity and rest. May you have lots of both, and let the fall colors give you "happy":) *hugs*
Another gorgeous fall day in my area and perfect football weather. Truly heavenly. I hope you have a relaxing Sunday in preparation for a brand new week. Darlene, I haven't bought a real pumpkin so I'm not sure of the prices. It stays warm here so far into fall that if you carve a jack o lantern, it'll rot before Halloween quite often. I have, in the past, bought pie pumpkins and made fresh pumpkin puree. You asked about the leaves changing and in the Charlotte area, very little color is happening. Dogwoods always turn first and ours in our yard are beginning. The highest elevations of our NC mountains (Appalachians) are quite pretty. Jenny and Melanie have both been up there in the past week and say it's quite pretty. Leaf peeping is a big thing and the mountain towns get bombarded with visitors this time of year. Plus there are lots of apple growers up there. We used to take the girls and make a whole day of leaf-looking, apple/cider buying, and picnicking. Now Dave and I are old people and avoid crowds like the plague. HAHAHAHAHA
Hi Darlene - thanks so much for the compliment on my page. It was a pleasant Fall day with temps in the low 70's but tonite it'll be down toe the mid 40's - kinda cold. Hope you'll have a wonderful Sunday - I hear it's your birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! hugs, Wendy
Chilly temps have arrived...42 tonight..mid 70's next week. Dixie is ready for it..found her sweater, so it's by the door. Wishing you a wonderful new week ahead -:)
Good morning, dear Darlene. There's a cool front coming... ushering in brisk breezes today, really cool temps overnight. Our leaves have begun changing; a red maple has been wearing red all week, but that's the only one. Actually, a lot of leaves are falling w/o going thru a color change...I blame our drought for that:( We got a tad of sprinkles yesterday ahead of this front, but the week ahead is supposed to be dry as toast... still. Really need rain before winter freezes. Lack of it kills nice shrubs. Have you checked the price of pumpkins this year> I haven't yet, but would like to get one to cook into pies. We both love 'punkin pies'. I'll make the filling, but don't make the crust... Pillsbury does such a good job. ha Hope your w/e is filled w/all things Autumn/Fall: smells, sights, and lots of memories. Enjoy the cool!! Love & *hugs*
