After 2 bowls of Chicken & Dumplings each, we are all four very full. Then had a light dinner with maybe another bowl for at least one guest.
Before dumplings and after dumplings were added. Now this pot is at least half empty! Then came the laughter to help settle the full tummies.
They have a small dog, like our 4, and this magnificent standard Poodle, named Pink. Carly and Pink played and played and played. Everyone gets along except for eating each other's dog food. We are blessed by our best friends of almost 50 years.
Our friends have left Lubbock and are well on their way. So excited! We have been friends for close to 50 years.
There will be LOTS of laughter going on and NO suppressing it! Can't afford any more spread to hips! So now I am off to clean bathrooms! I know you are jealous! Sending Blessings & Hugs because well...
Hello Pal, glad you found some items at Big Lots. I went to a local one a few months ago just to see what they had and you're right, it seems to be mostly furniture now and lamps and such. Didn't they used to have more variety? We only have one feeder for the hummers but I guess we need more because they fight over it like children. It seems to be the male and female fighting over it. They sure are aggressive to be so tiny. Yesterday started off sunny, I dried sheets on the line. About 4 pm we had a bad thunderstorm with hard winds and more than an inch of rain. We are still wet from all that rain since the wind blew it up on the porch and deck. mid-week huggies, Beth
The front and back yards have been water; groceries purchased and put away; Taco Salads from Rosa's have been eaten; and dogs brushed. I feel a nap coming on. We have company coming tomorrow which means vacuuming, moping, bathrooms cleaned and a million other chores. If it wasn't so hot outside, when they get here, we could just sit and enjoy the sunset. Can't wait for the laughter and love to begin but until then, I hope you already have your chores done and...
I have a wind chime with 8-12" of 2 hummingbird feeders. They don't mind it. When it gets real windy, hubby ties a small soft rope around the chimes so they don't clang all night long. I will send you an email with a video.
I toatally agree Pam, with you about having a summer day over winter. I have two friends here on NOTH that can't wait till fall. Now I like fall too, but I don't want to skip summer! We got still another thunderstorm this afternoon and it rained like the dickens! Lightning too! The grass is so green - too bad you aren't getting any. It was 88 today and the sun was out again after the storm. Earlier went to breakfast with Richie's brother - I have got to stop this eating in the morning!!! We went to Big Lots this afternoon before the rain, and picked up a few washclothes, and honey found a new griddle pan and I found a windchime that wasn't too expensive. I was just wondering if I put it out inbetween the hummingbird feeds, it it would chase them away. What do you think, Pam? The feeders are several feet away from where I want the windchime to go. Maybe take down the third on and move it out back. Got to get the towels out of the washer and put them in the dryer. Hope some rain comes your way soon! Enjoy this new month. hugs, Wendy
Good afternoon to you. Its a warm 95 here. I'm hoping it isn't to hot where you live. Supposed to get up to 102 here. I don't care for the heat or the cold. I''m a in between kind of person. Went shopping this morning and got a text while I was still on my way to Walmart. My husband got me a new dryer. Haven't got it yet. There will be a guy bringing it sometime this afternoon. Mine that I have right now makes a awful sound when its going. So I will be happy to have one that doesn't make a awful noise when its drying clothes. Not much going on here right now. Can you believe that some schools in the DFW area are starting today? My girls start on the 10th. Most all schools are starting a couple of weeks early because of time they missed during the Pandemic.
Even as hot and as dry as we are this year, I would rather have summer than a freezing winter. Which one do you prefer?
This was the Dallas area yesterday evening. And once again we did not get a drop. So near and yet so far; all around us. But one day soon, it will be our turn.
Hello Pal, sorry to hear of the death of your aquaintance. It's sad that there's so many of these incidents lately. Here too. It's mostly Fentanyl that you hear about. There was 9 or 10 deaths in my county in the first week of July related to that drug. They had to order extra Narcan to deal with the sudden outbreak of this. They made some arrests recently too, of the people responsible for lacing the drugs with it. The rain held off here all weekend and we have dried out some. Steve trimmed up the shrubs and cut all the grass except out front. It's a never ending thing. Btw, I only got some throw blankets and small lap quilt at the sale, and a small birdhouse for outside of course, that's patriotic. My kitchen is small but my house is not. It's about 1500 sq feet but I have plenty of junk already. lol. I have an 11 appt today with my primary so guess I better get ready. Talk to you soon. Welcome August!
