Hi Wendy, oh your steak dinner sounds so good. That would be my choice for birthday dinner too. Ribeyes are my fav. How nice that your friend got donations at the VFW. The gov't shutdown has drug on much too long now. It never should have happened to begin with. I know the military people are over it. What kind of pie did you make hubby for his birthday? Was it the blueberry one you talked about? Mama made me a blueberry pie for my birthday one year, many moons ago. The berries are always in season when my birthday occurs (July) We had a humdinger of a wind and rainstorm blow through here about 10-11 last night. No lightening thank goodness but the wind was very strong and this morning everything was blown topsy turvy on my porch. My silk Ficus tree that is covered with clear lights was down on it's side. Things have quieted down now, thankfully and it's turning cold. I've been to the body shop already this morning, ran errands and back home. Talk to you soon. Have a good weekend! love, Beth
Hi Wendy, after some very cold days we have begun to warm up again here. I know that means rain is on the way. I can't complain though, at least we are not buried under snow. Hope you had a wonderful day today - nice and mild here - about 47 and lots of sunshine. I'm sure it's cold compared to Calif. temps. Been busy in the kitchen today hence the picture.. Back again, I just realized your message was left on Thurs. so the birthday cake was for yesterday. Also I meant to tell you my granddaughter had to have an appendectomy Thurs. night. She's only 14. They did it laproscopically. She's home and feeling better. Enjoy your day and stay warm. We have more rain and cold on the way!
Hi Wendy, I'm so glad the recipe turned out good for you and that your hubby liked it too. I make it per the recipe but I use the mild Rotel tomatoes. My hubby doesn't do spicy anymore. Causes heartburn. Sounds like it's been pretty cold up your way. We had 2 days this week that it never got out of the 40s. That's cold for us Florida people. Yesterday was Nat'l Pooh day and since I'm such a Pooh lover me and the girls observed it by having a tea party outside with sugar cookies I let them help decorate. We also had ginger lemon tea with honey. It was pleasant outside and a good day for it. I got sick after New Year and had a rough time of it. It was stomach issues and so I abstained from coffee for 9 full days. That was the longest 9 days of my life. Haha! I'm feeling better now and happily drinking my morning brew again. So good to hear from you friend, enjoy the birthday celebration today. Ice cream cake sounds wonderful. love, Beth
