Happy Groundhog Day! Our Punxatauny Phil says we'll have 6 more weeks of winter. That may hold in Jersey, Pa and new england, but I don't think he holds that accountablity down here. Have a good month and hope you get an early spring. Hugs, Wendy
Good afternoon to you my friend. Its a lovely sunny and 50* here. The days are just going to get warmer each day. I went and saw our son and his girlfriend this morning and then went out to eat with them. Then after that I stopped at Walmart and got a few things that we needed before I came home. I took a much needed nap after I put away the groceries. I was beginning to get a headache for some reason. Well enough of my chit chat. I will talk to you later. Stay warm and safe and take care. Many hugs from me to you, Cheryl
Oh my! I am so ready to get in the car and go somewhere. Now I can stay at home for a week, easily, unless I know I can't get out; then I get claustrophobic.
We have been at 33° for about 6 hours now and the roads are trying to clear but it is not warm enough to completely rid them of slick icy spots.
The ice may be beautiful to look at but it is so damaging to the trees and to the electric lines in our area. We are blessed to still have our electricity on.
And with all the ice melting there is no going for a stroll with a river running through the backyard and mushy ground everywhere. Maybe tomorrow I can run away! Nice page Wendy!!!
Good afternoon my friend. Its finally above freezing here today. But still chilly. I hope you are having a good afternoon and taking it easy. Not much going on here. I've been busy doing things here and now taking it easy. Take care my friend and stay warm. Many hugs to you, Cheryl
Another day with almost nothing open... no schools, no banks, no local government offices, very few planes taking off and landing, etc. So we are not leaving the house. There are kids, adults, and animals outside but not for long. Everything is solid ice and not soft snow. More freezing rain in the DFW area and heading in this afternoon. I am wishing you Winter Peace for this first day of February and all month long. Starting Monday, we hope for a week of temperatures in the 60's.
Your soup sounds so good. I am going to heat up pinto beans I made a couple of days ago. Now I am hungry!
Wow you did get some bad weather Pam. Hope you don't get anymore anytime soon and that you get a few sunny days to melt all this stuff and yesm I did see the rooster in the tree. Guess he wants a bird's eye view of the icy land. We had a little more rain last nite and it was foggy this morning when I left to see the doctor - Rich was still sleeping so I let him be. He spent about 10 minutes with me and said shots were not gonna cure what I had - bone on bone. So I told him I'd see the surgeon and talk with him about surgery. So I'm gonna get this done after 2 or more years. Made chicken tortellini soup for dinner - thru everything I had in it and then some and it turned out good. Wishing you a good rest of the evening Pam. Hugs, Wendy
I took this picture at 8:15 am. The sleet had already started falling. When I looked at about 7:30 and there was only a tiny puddle in the driveway but no white stuff.
Around 10 am we could hear the sleeting rain loudly falling on the plastic covering the plants in the backyard. This is a picture from the front where the icicles were hanging from the roof and forming on the youpon.
What a difference a couple hours make! Our total whiteout... you can't tell where the street ends and the grass starts. It is 28° at noon; 29° was high yesterday; 33° high tomorrow. About an hour after I took this, the Mail truck delivered our mail.
Wendy sent me this from Bowie. All 30 or so chickens are inside the coop. Can you see the Rooster on the top?
Is it Springtime yet? Barefoot walking in the GREEN grass! I am so ready for flowers to be blooming!
The mice usually win, Wendy. The past weeks for me was a squirrely time - everthing seemed to go sideways. Not good for me who can't remember a thing for longer than 2 secs. (tee-hee)
Good Monday Morning to you! We started this day at 26° feels like 16°. We will NOT be above freezing until noon on Wednesday when our high will be 35°.
We are supposed to have freezing rain and sleet for the next 3 days and then on Thursday... just rain. Are you jealous?
Now, I know a bunch of you like winter and are used to this for months on end. However... this is TEXAS! And I really do like it 80° to 90° most days.
Lots of people moved here from other states. I wonder if they know how to drive on ICE??? At 6:30 this morning, the news was reporting 18 wrecks in the last 40 minutes and that was BEFORE rush hour. They said you could easily be stuck in your car for over an hour.
