Hi Cheryl - didn't feel like doing comments yesterday - took a break. I did read everything though. Got up early this morning so I could go to breakfast with Rich and his broghter since he invited us. It was good but I'm just not used to eating that early (or that much) as soon as I get up. Stopped at Walgreens to get my foot cream as I'm getting pretty low and I don't know when I'll get out to WalMart. Came home and caught up on my sleep! Have a load of clothes in as the electric company sent a text saying to conserve power between 3 & 6 pm. The wash will be done but I can't put them in the dryer till we come from from going out with our friends tonite; and that won't be till after midnite. We are gong to friends on the holiday - I'll find out from her tonite what I am to bring. I'm sure she'll ask the other couple who will be there tonite to come also. They are buying the motorhome from them and used to go to the Post also on Fridaynite nites, but have issues with the smoke also, as most Veterans do. Happy Friday! I'm loving the weather - it's 88 today but no humidity - a beautiful day so enjoy. Hugs, Wendy
Another 90 degree day here Cheryl but that's ok - the AC is still going strong and it wasn't that humid - only in the morning. Went food shopping today - didn't need too much but I was surprised that the shelves were empty of some things still, so we didn't get everything on the list. It's so frustrating. Trying to find a place to go on vacation with my sister sometime in the second half of Sept. Will have to make some calls tomorrow to see what the chances are I can go where we want. No plans for tomorrow but hopefully will go out Friday nite to the Moose with our friends. Can you believe August is over and Labor Day is just around the corner? Time is flying by - we are invited to our freind's house for a very small get together - will know when we see them Friday nite what she wants me to bring. Did water what is left of the flower garden but mostly everything has died off. But I did have a strawbery on my plant just last week - so strange but surprised! Have a good rest of the week. Take it easy.
Everything quieted down yesterday and we got all our errands completed. In WalMart, as we come to the end of an aisle, we always look both directions to make sure someone is not going to run over us as we venture out. Yesterday, after looking right and seeing someone in a glittery, very bright teal sparkle tank top, I quickly looked the other direction. Someone yelled, "PAM!" I thought, Oh No! She was the daughter of one of my best friends from South Texas. We began visiting in the middle of the store and another lady (neither of us knew) joined us. She overheard us talking about the Fire in Fate. I was sharing the pictures of the Fire, then my friend shared pictures of her dog, and our new "friend" also shared her dog pictures. You never know where a smile and kind words will lead you but it warms your heart.
I hope you will share your smile today and you just might meet someone new too!
Love the new background Cheryl. It was a slow day for me - don't think I did much but sort thru things and got rid of stuff. Then a friedn called - think she was bored - as she never calls me except when she want information on someone or something. Ended up being on the phone with her for 1 1/2 hrs. Then Rich came home - he was gone all day and we found some leftovers to have for dinner. Big exciting day huh? I want to go pick up some fruits and veggies tomorrow, would also like to get to Hobby Lobby - didn't go out yesterday or today and am not really going that way tomorrow either, so I guess I'm not going to get there tomorrow. No need to rush to get things done at our age anyway. Relax when you can. Hugs, Wendy
This started around 5:30 am this Tuesday morning about 2 miles from our house. It was an apartment complex under construction. Just the framework was up and pallets of wood all around.
It is just off the I-30 exit and could be seen from many miles away. Of course you could not get out of our neighborhood because streets were blocked off. Also the interstate was backed up for many miles because of "onlookers".
We are so blessed that no one was injured that we know of right now. All that fresh lumber was a very hot fire and Fire Departments from all around joined in to help. Thank you!
I was watching a video of it and you could see the apartment structure collapsing as it moved through the building. After 3 hours or so the fire is contained and hopefully completely out now.
Not sure if we will be able to get to town today or not (Taco Salad Tuesday from Rosa's, you know). Right now we are just counting our blessings and sharing them with you.
We did not get a shower to come across and help put out the fire, but we were sure blessed with no wind to spread the fire either. Blessings upon Blessings!
Hi Shirley - it wasn't as hot here as it was only 90. Was inside all day dusting everything really good - over did it and was hurting. But it didn't stop me from having to make dinner. Did a lot of chopping and sauteeing - this dinner takes alot of time - but it was good as always. No plans for tomorrow - think I'll take it easy. Have a good nite.
