I hope every minute of your Sunday brings you smiles! Darlene, I put away my decor that was Halloween but left out fall and put out Thanksgiving. In a few weeks we will put our outside Christmas lights up on the fence out front and start decorating for that.

BRRRRR! A brisk change in the weather here, how about your area? I do love cooler weather so I'm not complaining. I get to wear my sweaters once again. I much prefer this "cozy" weather to the summer heat and high humidity. I love sunny, cool days. Not frigid, mind you. Lol. I am particular. HAHAHA I'm enjoying the day and hope you are as well. I have not gotten a 2024 calender yet. I will soon, though. I really like your page, Darlene.

Ah, November has arrived. A month of thankfulness and feasting. It has come in with a big chill in my area. Air conditioning on one day, heat on the next. And I know my friends back home in PA have snow already. Whatever the weather, let's enjoy the day. Darlene, I always took my girls out trick or treating when they were small. I had as much fun as they did, I think.

Sent with smiles~

Thank you for your kind words about my page Darlene.  Hope your weekend was good and that you'll have a good start to the new week - the last couple days of your beloved October.  Not only is it Trick or Treating but it's also my sister' birthday.  I love garlic and it's so good for you too and no, I don't have any side effects from it - no dry mouth.  The game of dominos is played with flat dice that have two parts divided by a line.  You start the game by everyone drawing a certain amount of dominos.  Lets say you start with a set of 12 and there are 4 of you playing.  The first person who draws the double 12 puts it in the middle.  You then have to line up all  the dominos in your had starting with 12 dots on the top half - the bottom half lets say is a 6 dots.  You then need to find a 6 on the next domino and whatever the bottom half of that 6 is, you need to find a domino that has that number of dots on it. For example 12/6 6/5 5/9 9/2 ect.  You keep lining them all up in your hand.  This is called your TRAIN.  Any other domionos that you can't fit in your hand becomes Mexico.  Everyone has to start with a 12 domino.  Whe it goes around to who started, if they have an extra 12 domino, they can put this in the extra place and anyone can play on that (from their Mexico) when it's their turn.  That's why what we play is called Mexican Dominos.  I don't explain it very well, but if you picked up a set and read the instructions, you would understand better.  I came in last tonite - when a person plays their last domino in their hand, they go out everyone else counts all the dominoes left in their hand.  The one with the least amount of points when "blanks" are played is the winner.   We didn't finish the game till 12:30.  Sometimes it doesn't take that long, you just never know.

The hamburger soup is really good but not like wedding soup - at least I don't think so.  You start off with hamburg, onions, celery, carrots, tomatoes, and all kinds  of veggies and beef broth.  Google it - there are several different kinds - just do the basics and then add.  I put some leftover peas and corn in mine and added pinto beans and green beans - made it real hearty.  Add what you want and leave out anything you don't like.  I put garlic in mine too. We always need to wind down when we come home from playing on Sundays - it's now quarter after 2am and we'll probably finish watching this one show - House Hunters - I like that show and tape alot of them , then we'll go to bed.  What are some of your favorite shows, Darlen?  Have a good morning.  Hugs, Wendy

10/29/2023 12:44:16

Our final Sunday of October. I hope yours is restful and rejuvenating. Darlene, we don't get trick or treaters. We live on a dead end street and there are no young kids here anymore. Most of us here are of the "elder" variety. LOL

Sending smiles~

Happy Sunday, Darlene:) I think
a cold front is coming, or so "they" say.
Here's hoping we'll both enjoy
coooool weather soon:)

10/28/2023 21:05:10

Yes Darlene, we do get a lot of kids at Halloween as we live in a sub division they bring the kids in by car.  Although last year we didn't get as many as they year before.  One year I think we got close to 200.  The outside of the house is a bit decorated, but since we'll be sitting at the end of the drive I doubt they will even notice the decorations.  Had my brother in law and wife over for dinner tonite.  Made a huge pot of hamburger soup Thursday nite and had a lot leftover so I thought this would be an easy meal to have along with garlic toast.  Had some cake left that I made last nite, so that was desert.  Easy but still not.  I have to cook when we play dominos with our friends on Sunday afternoon.  She cooks one week and me the other.  I 'll think of something easy  - I hope!  Have a great Sunday - hope it easy and relaxing for you.   Hugs, Wendy

We haven't had trick or treaters in probably 20 years. And we are in the city limits..just a few blocks from downtown. Whuch, by the way, downtown is hosting its annual Halloween bash tonight. Also some area church's are doing trunk or treat gatherings. When our son was small we took him to the downtown festivities..he always enjoyed it.

Good morning, Darlene! In the 50yrs
we've lived here, not one gremlin has
knocked on our door @ 'Ween. Being in
the country has its advantages, tho I kinda
missed it. Have you? BTW, I wanted
you to meet Casper, cousin of 'Itt'.

10/25/2023 11:01:01

Wonderful Wednesday to you! Another picture-perfect day in my area. I have almost completed my to-do list and, when I do, my afternoon will be free. Might just have to do a bit of swing-sitting on the porch later. Can't let these beautiful days go to waste. How is your day and what are you doing? Make time to soak in all the good stuff! Darlene, we no longer have an Applebee's. Ours seemed to have gone downhill and was kind of junky. We have Chili's and I do love that. My drink of choice is a tall, ice-cold glass of unsweetened iced tea. I know that sends most people into instant gag mode. I acquired a taste for unsweetened tea years ago while trying to lose weight. Now I'm a chubby who still drinks it. Can't say it's been a boon to my svelte body but it has to help somehow. I used to drink Coke like it was going out of style. It was awful how addicted I was. I stopped cold turkey and had headaches for days due to lack of caffeine. So though I'm not opposed to mixed drinks in moderation, I pretty much stick to tea these days. I know....I'm boring.

Enjoy your day in every way,
and your evening, too:)

The end of October is closing in
and Halloween is near. Can you
believe it, Darlene? If it were cooler here
it'd seem more like it. Nearing 80ΒΊ

Find simple moments, and the joy of
little things today, dear Darlene.
Saturday is our football game day
(college football). Don't watch pro-ball
games (Sundays), tho college ball is
on its way there. BBQ is barbeque,
and 'sammie' is  sandwich. I type like
I talk, I think. ha Just keep on asking!
Hope you have a restful today, pal!

10/21/2023 11:41:02

I hope you are having a sweet Saturday. It is lovely in my area and I've hung out laundry and swept the back porch. Now I'm sneezing. But it's too pretty outside to cower indoors so I keep my handy-dandy stash of tissues nearby. What is going on at your house today, Darlene? My hubby is replacing the ignition switch on our Jeep so I'm just doing my thing while he works. Enjoy every minute of the day.

Saturday smiles~

Yes, she's Beth777. It's her 3rd page, the 2nd being Tiggerific. She's safe. lol  I feel the same way about rain. Some say its depressing, but I don't know that it's ever affected me like that.  The house seems so cozy while the droplets fall:)  Hope your week has been good to you. I need to get up from here and get my nappy head shampooed. It's too easy to put off, y'know? haha Take care, dear Darlene...

10/17/2023 10:28:30

Have a fine, fruitful & fun Tuesday, Darlene! It's
so refreshingly nippy outside, and sunny. Just to
be in mid 60s today. Lawsy, compared to our
summer temps... it's miraculous! ha Today is a
'no cooking' day and I feel happy about that.
I don't mind cooking, it's just that occasionally
I like a day off, ya' know.  I'll probably pack up
a few things this afternoon to take to our
thrift store so I won't feel I've wasted a good
day:)  Wishing you well, my friend!  *hugs*

a new week. Hope it's a pleasant one

Happy Autumn weekend. It seems
color is "becoming" each day.
Enjoy, dear Darlene!  *hugs*

10/15/2023 11:08:56

Enjoy some rest and relaxation today in preparation for the week ahead. Here it is a gorgeous fall day and I need to plant some flower bulbs this morning; we found some while doing yard work and have no idea what they are. Looks like we'll be surprised if and when they come up, huh? Darlene, this year Dave and I made concrete pumpkins for our girls and for us. We bought those  jack-o-lantern buckets for trick or treating and the same buckets only smaller then filled them with concrete. When set up (after a couple days) we cut off the plastic pumpkins and, voila! After Halloween, we can leave them out for Thanksgiving by turning them around so the jack-o-lantern face isn't facing out. The smaller ones I covered in fabric and Dave cut me some crape myrtle for the stems and they are for indoor decoration. Pinterest gives me so many ideas and projects, I'll never live long enough to do them all. HAHA As for cider, I'm sure some folks are more discerning than others when making it. We used to buy at a place in the mountains called The Cider Mill. You could watch it being made. Also there's a place up there called Grandad's we've gotten it from. Recently I've bought it at the grocery store. Probably small-time, homemade cider folks aren't as careful about the apples going in. GROSS!

Hugs and smiles~

Darci

Your new page is haunting, dear Darlene!
I do love apple cider and am thankful
I didn't witness what you did, or I'd have
the same dislike for it. Yikes! So sorry, pal.
Our game is on early this week (11:00a), so
must get something out for us to eat while
watching it. We're still like little kids, eating
and watching TV. haha Have a delightful
weekend, pal. *hugs*

10/12/2023 10:16:16

We did get some rain after 'they' said
we wouldn't. lol It drizzled 'manna' all
night; the air smells so good this a.m.
If you're dry, too, maybe this front will
visit you. Wishing you abundant smiles
& joy, dear Darlene:) *hugs* -di
