good morning Pam, no the rain we got over the weekend was from a low pressure system. Someone hit a power pole in front of our church and that knocked the power off. We will be on the outer edges of Francine too but we are to get rain from it. I know those poor folks in La dread to see it coming. They seem to get walloped almost every year.
Hello Pam, are y'all expecting Francine to hit your area? We are expecting the outer bands of rains to move over us at the very least. We had 3 inches over the weekend and power knocked out to our church yesterday. We had service anyway, in the dark. lol. Well we had light from the windows anyway.
Hi Pam, how are you doing? Hope you are having a good weekend.. To answer your question, I work at a manufacturing/mail order company. We pack up a variety of fruit and other edibles such as cheese, sausage, nuts, trail mix chocolate etc. The company has orchards and we harvest our own peach and pear crops for the Christmas pack. Other fruits we get from WA and CA. I have 4 production lines and have a line leader on each one. The busy season runs from the end of August through December. We have to have a large crew to get everything done during that time frame.
I leave for work a little after 5:30 to get there a little early and the crew starts at 6:15 - 3:15. After they leave I help get the swing shift going at 3:30 and then do all my production paperwork. I usually leave around 5:00, does make for a long day. And yes, we have to show the workers how to do the job such as folding boxes, packing the fruit and other edibles, putting the correct labels on etc. and running them through tape machines and stacking on pallets. Thankfully we do have several that come back year after year so they already know what they are doing and can help out. I am up to 100 now and have 3 more starting tomorrow (sigh) A lot of names for me to remember. I walk up and down the lines and take roll call in the mornings so I know who is there and who isn't and put their hours on a time page. I have to schedule what gifts we are going to do on what lines each day as well as plan for the swing shift. Throughout the day I walk the lines periodically to make sure everything is being done correctly. Therefore I can walk 3 or 4 miles a day as well as go up and down 34 steps several times a day. No wonder I feel exhausted by the time I get home lol... Don't quite have the energy level as I did when I was younger.
After the Christmas rush it slows down in January and all the seasonal employees get laid off and I go down to a smaller crew most of which are supervisors, leaders, material people, hyster drivers from the pear line dept. Anyway, hope that was at least a little helpful, and thanks for the prayers and your friendship. Take care~~ debijo
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. It will soon be over then it's back to the grind. Seems I have no energy today and can't seem to get motivated, maybe later lol... Enjoy your day and have a great week~~~ hugs, debijo
