Just dropping by to see how you are and wishing a blessed weekend. Another great college football game day. Enjoy your weekend and new week on the way.....George
Today is one of those days, not because of rain but because we started at 35 again today. This is already the third time this month. I am ready for spring, for flowers to emerge and bloom, and warm temperatures.
How many days until Spring? At least I haven't had to turn the heat on yet. But my windows are not open either.
So here I sit dreaming of the future. Guess I had better get up and enjoy every minute of the day and celebrate Saturday with you.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your world with me.
We had a good 'ole Texas thunderstorm last night with LOTS of lightning and thunder with wind and pouring down rain. It only lasted 15-40 minutes depending on where you live in the metroplex but it dumped an inch or more of rain.
Guess what it left behind? That's right, lots of leaves to pick up, rake, or mulch with the mower. It also left us with cooler temperatures again.
My son's friend Paul, passed away yesterday. I just want to say "Thanks for your prayers". I am thankful my son got into Paul's room at the hospital to visit with his family.
A very good day to you and wishing all is well with you and yours. sure getting spoiled with our beautiful weather. Going tomorrow for PET scan to see how cancer is doing then see oncologist next week to find out results. Keep your fingers crossed. Enjoy your day and share your blessings......George
GOOD MORNING, LOVE, HUGS & BLESSINGS, Ms. DarleneBean, I pray YOU have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY/HUMPDAY, and are having a WISH-FULFILLED WEEK, my friend...
Just thought this should start out our month of Thanksgiving. My goodness, we all have something we can be thankful for everyday if we just take the time to look around and think about it.
And of course I have to tell you how much your friendship on the Hill means to me. I had a rough day starting yesterday afternoon. Please keep my son and his friend, Paul, in your prayers.
You know how important your smile is to others as it lets your love shine. And we all need that everyday, some days much more than others.
Please have a gorgeous week and say thanks to those, like Doc Shell, and the many others that help us have beautiful tags, beautiful pages, and figure out how to navigate this most awesome place (thanks TC & EB) where we come and share with each other and become wonderful friends.
We have had frost 2 mornings in a row. Some of my plants are NOT happy. However, starting Sunday, we should be back in the 70's for almost a week with mostly 50's for lows.
So here is to a beautiful day today and the entire weekend for you and me. I will have to go check on some of my plants as soon as it warms up a bit more.
Take time this weekend to stop and smell the flowers, share your smile with others, and know that I am sending you
A very good day and weekend to you. Nice weather for us here with cool nights and warm days. Going to get back up to the high 70's. Time going by fast ! Not much longer until Thanksgiving, then Christmas. then New Years. Remember dad telling me the older you get the faster time goes and so true. Enjoy your weekend and new week......George.
Now this is NO joke! I have about 16 clocks that have to be changed forward and backward every year. That doesn't count the iPhones, iPads, iWatches, and Apple computers that change automatically.
Today I thought I would share pictures of our yard. As I sit in the computer room, the window to the left of the front door, I keep hearing the squirrels jump on the roof from the tree farther left but not in picture and run across the roof. This picture was taken right after our first 1/2" of rain. We had at least 1-1/2" over 2 days and today there is no water standing in this flower bed.
This picture is facing NNE across our backyard. You can see the patio, table and rocking chairs which is one of my favorite places in the world. In the center of the picture is where the tree fell down that we had to cut up & get rid of earlier this year. On the right is a flower bed we made in the middle of the yard.
In this WNW facing picture, you can see the cement we poured many years ago and the PVC frame with a lattice top to protect plants from burning up in the direct hot sun of Texas summers. Soon we will get out our sheet of plastic that goes behind the plants and covers them all. All the hanging baskets will go under there too. There are flood lights that we turn on in freezing weather to help keep plants warm. Yes, I have a few BIG plants in BIG pots and I had already moved 3 of them under the carport.
In this SW view, you see Hubby's shop (the carport is attached to the front of it, out of view to the right). You also see one flower bed alongside the shop and another flower bed we made in the middle of the yard. Unseen behind the chines to the right is a small flower bed with 4 rose bushes in it. The summer breeze blows the rose scent across the patio.
This angle shows the fence and all the things hanging on it as well as the wind spinners in the middle of the yard flower bed. There is another flower bed on the left that has hostas, ornamental pink grasses, flowers and one large Yellow Rose bush that in summer is FULL of roses.
Of course, I can't leave without the beautiful blooming Angel Trumpet that came from Cricket. I hope you enjoyed your tour and that you know if you are ever in the Dallas area, you are welcome at our home!
Ok, so yesterday when it was in the 80's, I might have tried to blow a leave in the air. It didn't work so I vacuumed them all up in the mower and bagged them for trash pick up.
Now today, we started in the mid 50's and that is our high until maybe Friday. What? We are going to have 2 nights in the mid 30's. What? Don't you know that Texas doesn't get that kind of weather until maybe December or more likely January? And last year we had 2 below for the first time EVER. I know, it is all this global warming!
So I guess it is time to trim some trees for firewood (we don't have a fireplace inside) or turn the heater on for two evenings since inside our house is still 75° right now. And just admit that...
for a few days. I sure hope some of you survive the early snow this year as that usually waits until February in Texas if it happens at all. So Blessings and Hugs from me and all the beautiful Monarch Butterflies in our area. My video of one yesterday was magnificient! Sure hope you stop by soon!
