Today is one of those days. Thought about mowing yesterday evening, but decided we would wait until this morning when it was cooler... bad decision!
That is what we woke up to today. The winds were very high (had to tie one of the wind chimes) but we only got 2/10" from it as it dissipated as it got near us or fizzled out as our weatherman often says.
Took this yesterday showing how much water we still have standing and how much we need to be able to mow. However, I got some other good pictures too.
Just look at the unusual clouds in the sky. This picture was from my front yard.
And this picture was taken from my backyard.
Anyway, I hope you share your smile and make some sunshine for everyone you encounter today. Almost time for college baseball playoffs to start.
You know what today is and what is coming very soon... the weekend is just about here!
even if you are retired ! Do you have something exciting planned? College baseball Super Regional playoffs start today, so you know what we'll be doing... watching as many games as we can get on TV. I am sending
Now it is time to get busy and get ready for the weekend! Share your smile with everyone in case someone needs it worse than you!
As always I am thinking of you and sending Blessings and Hugs to you! Looking forward to hearing from you!
Worked yesterday afternoon and ran errands this morning. I am starting Chicken and Dumplings now. Still don't know if we have company coming tomorrow or not.
Humidity was at 99% again early this morning. The ground is so saturated. So I think I will check the plants outside quickly and read my book while the laundry finishes. Smile! Someone is watching you!
Good day to you. Summertime is definitely her being hot in the 90's with high humidity to compliment it. June 10th 1956 a beautiful young girl exchanged vows with me to love, cherish and respect and as the years have gone by we know our time together grows shorter but the love has grown stronger. Happy 65 anniversary to my beautiful bride.
So what are you doing this lovely Wednesday? I am working half a day. But I still have time to play! We only had about 2/10" of rain yesterday before the sun finally came out.
But there is still plenty of water around to play in as you can see in this reflection. So come on over and play or just sit and relax. But along the way share your smile!
I ended up outside on the porch for several hours this morning. Why? Because it was raining lightly and raining and raining hard. Today will be about an inch of rain for us but my friends near me already have 2". I read, did FaceTime with a friend, and maybe took some videos of Hummingbirds and Cardinals. So I came in and downloaded between 74 and 102 pictures since June 1st to my computer. I am addicted!
It has been so very humid the last few days when the sun does come out for a bit. Our A/C has been on for well over a month. The latest news is that we are supposed to have at least 10+ days of no rain soon. The bad news is it will be in the 90's and above for most of that time. Well, from now until October probably.
So I am off to enjoy the rest of the rainy day and ask that you remind me in a few months of how much rain we have had now.
Guess what... our gauge had 1" of rain this morning. I got three beautiful videos of lightning in the clouds about 9:15 pm. While texting one of my friends last night, I said storms are all around us but looks like everything will miss us completely. At 11:30 pm I was outside again and got pictures of the stars shining bright above the storm clouds building all around us.
Around 3 am a small cell (not above that was at 11:30 pm) built up right next to us and came right over us when the bottom fell out and gave us our 1" in a very short period.
I keep emptying the trays under the potted plants but even them and my poor rose bushes (very few leaves) and other plants are not happy about the amount of rain they are getting right now, especially with the lack of sunshine. The sun is out but lots of cloud cover is around too. It has been months since the ground has dried out completely.
I grew up with 500 acres and cattle and we never complain about the rain and I'm not now. Because before we know it, we will be in a drought and people will have to hunt for hay to buy for the cows. So, I'm heading out with a smile to share with you on this beautiful and blessed Sunday.
Hope you are enjoy this beautiful Sunday. It's 88 here but feel hotter. Am cooking and keeping cool inside with the AC on. Have a great blessed day. Hugs, Wendy
Friday we got the yard mowed. Yes, there were ruts again in the same area of the yard. But then overnight we had 1/2" of rain in the gauge. My daughter-in-law, Evelyn, came to spend the night around 8:30 so we could drive about 45-60 minutes to Canton which is southeast of Fate. It is the world's largest flea market. Check out www.firstmondaycanton.com It is only open one weekend a month year round. Originally it was a great place to find bargins and unusual things. Now the prices are just as high as anywhere else. We bought a fruit cup for each when we first got there and ended with a corny dog. We brought nothing home! But we got our 10,000 steps in for the day and had a wonderful time! And now it is college regional baseball playoff time for my Longhorns! So I willl say,
what is left of it. Share your smile! I met two wonderful people today and we shared awesome conversations. There are so many wonderful people in this world.
Good day to you and wishing you a happy weekend. Have had some good rains which we needed. Enough where you could say ask for a drink of water and get thrown in the lake.Take care my friend......George
