Oh my goodness Pam, things are going from bad to worse out there where you are. Sorry to hear of more bad news Hope at this time you have electric back - think the worst part of no electirc is being cold!! When our heater stopped working we were forfunate to have a propane fireplace which kept us warm for a week before the heater finally got fixed! I think you need to move over here to NC - we don't get that kind of weather!! Hopinng you days improve and you keep warm!! Hugs, Wendy
Thinking of you all! Crazy what weather does to people and homes. We are still digging out but the roads are reopening and stores and businesses too/ dangerous driving! And some sore from shovelling out! Stay safe!
Hi there. Well it is finally warming up here. At least its a lot warmer than it was here lately. Its 10F here right now and supposed to get up to 19F. Itt doesn't sound like much but lately it has been in the single digits. Getting my housework done this morning and hopefully going to go eat lunch or dinner, whatever you may call the noon meal with my husband and son later. Take care my friend and have a good day. Cheryl
Pam. I am praying for all of you. You said it is only 56 in your house at the time you messaged. I am trying to find out the city you live in. I have email addresses, phone number, etc. but no actual address. Only Texas. I want to follow your weather and Electricity updates. I hope you and your family are still okay. I hope you have lots of candles as you won't have any light without having electricity. We were told here in, Canada, that a candle will keep you warm in your car. I read this as to how to keep warm in your house using candles: You can heat a room with a candle by picking the smallest room to heat with the candle, make sure that all the doors and windows are closed, and there is no wind coming in, as the wind can make it extremely hard to heat up the room with something small like a candle. In addition to this, you should place a clay flower pot on top of the candle, as this will radiate the heat a lot better than a simple candle.
I Hope this will help added with lots of blankets. Love you.
Hi there. Its a bitterly cold morning here. Its -13F and feels like -29F. My husbands work truck didn't want to run right this morning so he was late getting to work. Not doing a whole lot this morning. Just staying warm. I do have the laundry going. Hopefully tomorrow won't be as cold. I'm ready for it to warm up. At least the sun is out. All that snow we were supposed to get didn't happen, I'm very glad. We got maybe a inch of snow on the ground. Take care my friend and have a good day. Cheryl
It's a very wintry morning and everyone is just waiting for the big snowstorm. Forecast is 8-10 inches today and overnight! My shrubs out front are already almost covered from the last snow.
Hi, my friends, thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your wonderful comments. They have lifted my spirits. I do hope you are healthy and happy, and doing fun things.
Oh my gosh, it has been so long since I have been able to spend any time here on The Hill. I'm quarantined/out of work since March and I am busier than I have ever been. I started replacing rotten siding last November and a freak snowstorm dropped almost 2 feet of extremely soaking wet/heavy snow. So, there sits the bottom of my front wall all torn off and waiting until Spring for me to finish, along with my porch, torn off the house listing/sinking backward. There are buckets under it to keep it solid/sturdy.
In September refer died so I had to have a new one installed. It was on it's last leg and not cooling, and at the bottom was freezing veggies. Well, the delivery guys were kids and couldn't grasp the basic fundamentals of the mechanics of the mask, so I ended up catching the common cold (rhinovirus). I wore 2 masks, so that pretty much proves to me what they are saying about: my mask protects others not so much me; but others masks are what protect me more than mine does. I do have N-95 left over from working construction the last 45 years, with a double bandanna on top of that.
All the holidays have been quiet 'cause I can't go anywhere & no one can visit. The virus has been wicked spiking here in NH; and now we have the variants. So I am so careful, washing anything and everything as it is brought into the house, and lots of hand-washing.
Working on taxes now, and getting rid of clutter, and sorting/sprucing-up/repairs/maintenance/deep cleaning. Oiy!!! Then with what's been going on since all of 2020 with that putrid, fly-infested, steaming, orange pile of pig diarrhea, desecrating our Democracy and the Capital. I can't even process any of it any more. I'm in the Twilight Zone!!!!
Well, have a great Valentine's and Winter, I'm still planning on getting here on The Hill a whole lot more often. Stay happy and healthy and have fun.
