 Monday Afternoon

By: oldblueeyes99 Date: 10/21/2013

photo afternoon.jpg  It was like a Winter's morning today. We woke up to 30 degree weather. I think I would have liked to stay under the covers a little later, but Cindy and Thea was coming around  9 and I like to have had my coffee and whatever was on the ajenda to go with it. I made some pumpkin muffins that had a cream cheese filling and a crunchy pecan topping. They are most decadent....just my style. I made 6 large ones instead of the 12 small one the recipe said the batter would make. So....I just had one muffin and my coffee...the other way I would have had 2 muffins and felt guilty because I ate the second one.. small  asWe it was...LOL...When I went to the Dr's last week and found that I had lost 4 lbs. without trying I figured I was doing something right, so may as well continue whatever it was I was doing. Don't where all my logic comes from but at my age I should care. Tomorrow my hairdresser is coming to cut my hair...seems like she was just here....for an old gal my hair sure does grow fast. The rest of the morning after Cindy and Thea left I was looking for something that wasn't where it belonged. I just couldn't find it...in my Christmas room there is a little child's chair with a teddy bear that I made a long time ago holding a small heart pillow also made by me. On the back of the chair is a mini quilt that...yes, I made that too. The heart was gone this morning and I knew it had to be in that room. Thea told me it was hiding. My cat...her royal highness...Calie spends a lot of time on the brass bed and gets a lot of hair on the quilt..not made by me...(grin) so I use one of those reversable brushes on it and got the quilt and the pillows (of course I made them..a long time ago)all spick and span. Looked under the bed thinking Thea had dropped it but not luck. I did look everywhere but to no avail, so I gave it up for a bit. A little later a thought came to me and I checked a cabinet that is above a wicker bureau that I keep an assortment of treasures. Yep, there it was just sitting on a shelf. I have no recall of putting it there. But, last night i did take down some folders and put them on the bed and after I got what I was looking for in the folders I put them back and must have put the pillow on the shelf without even thinking about what I was doing...now who else but me does such an absent minded thing?? So, all's well that ends well...I don't have to wonder where that little heart pillow went to and know that this time it wasn't Calie's fault...when I can't find something I say Calie must have taken it...I often wonder where she stashes all the missing things are that she hides...most likely just where I left them. Well, that's my story for today. Tomorrow I will try to go slower and take notice of what I do..right?    Later, Luv, Alice

i too, misplace things - like Barbara, I have only myself to blame. I spent time on 5 days, trying to find 3 cds on which I had names and addresses stored - finally, the lost was found. Must be part of growing up or older!

Yes, as I generally say( "it's Heck?) to grow old.

You are so energetic Alice, you put me to shame! Fancy making all those things, at whatever age you were. And imagine making muffins - the only time I get to eat muffins is the rare occasions when I buy them. The only things I cook is meat and veges for tea every night, and eggs for breakfast. Whenever things went missing in our house we used to blame the kids. Then the kids left home and there was only ourselves to blame, so we blamed each other. Now there's only me, and it's a little difficult to find a scapegoat in the circumstances! Thanks for your story, I enjoyed it.

photo cutethankyou.jpgThanks Barb. I have been sewing and doing crafts for what now seems like forever. I always enjoyed doing something creative. Have a great day/night, never quite sure....Luv, Alice
