Greetings. 28* and it is not going to get better than that today. Temps heading down and snow in the next 48 hours, albeit only about 3 inches. The wind seemed a lot colder on the walk as I went south and that is the wind tunnel. I did it to relieve the boredom and to elude "my John the Baptist". In either case, I went to Walmart yesterday so I may go to church today without anything else. I took a walk to the bank yesterday to clarify the situation with the calendars. Everyone can feel better about that even though it is not a done deal yet. They told me they gave all the money to the Confederacy that they use for the planners. I don't care about that as I never use one anyway. I have no life. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet. A side note: no one at the Pope's party yesterday got arrested and put in the Colosseum for the games.
Good morning. Looking out the window, the white crusty stuff which was on my sidewalk last night has left. It is above freezing so maybe everything in the world is back to normal. It was extremely slippery last night walking through the parking lot and across a street to go into church. Forty-five minutes later when exiting, it was worse. Driving was alright but walking was a challenge. I eventually returned to the fortress. I was going to salt the porch and sidewalk around the porch but decided to wait for today. I would have had to go into the garage and fight the darkness. And of course I knew the ice would melt as it is not the real winter ice. See December 21st in my colony. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Happy Saturday. Warmed up to 24*, and will go into the 30s. Outside of some snow and sleet, warm until Wednesday. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. It is Friday the 13th. Remain sequestered. I know the bad luck day for the Italians is the 15th of every month, regardless of the day but this is the bad luck day for the civilized world. I am starting out at -2 with a high of 18*F. Tomorrow I am expecting snow and sleet. This can't last because it will be winter soon. Tomorrow I shall activate the car from being sequestered in the garage. I received my first Christmas car the other day. This year I think I shall re-card my Christmas cards, like some people re-gift. Later today I am hoping to get out of the fortress and move around somewhat. Be careful out there today. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
On a recent trip to the grocery store, I had to travel through the aisles following some acute sales that made me feel like my brain was sloshing around in my head! Though the sales were awesome, I felt dizzy and nauseous, and I couldn’t wait until was through the checkout and out to the parking lot. On this journey of life, we all scale mountains of hardship, pick my way through the rugged land of aging and physical diminishment and traverse the rough country of some of our relationships. Sometimes it seems we finally surmount one mountain or slog through a bumpy patch just to have the next challenge arise quickly before us. How reassuring is today’s internet as it transforms the precarious path of our lives, accompanying our every step!
Greetings. It is -3* heading to 9* later. The weather people say it feels like -16. It is too early for this. I have the hot water dripping in the shower to prevent freezing. Magic number for that is zero. I have cancelled my exercise. I have been feeling a cold come on. I had a sore throat for about an hour yesterday. This year when getting near zero, I shall not be doing the walk for exercise, maybe a constitutional around the neighborhood for gossip. I have even hidden the car in the garage. First time since last winter. I hope this is not going to be like a couple of years ago where the toilet drain froze. And the few times over the years when the water froze coming in from the street. Humbug! I may venture out to the street to see if I got any mail yesterday and to toss out the water. I never get any worthwhile mail anyway. Of course I am moving toward the time of year when the tax stuff comes in the mail. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. It is 27* heading to 29* later. Considering the next couple of days, this is good. I am pondering walking over to church but it does not look promising right now. I have about an hour and a half to contemplate. A constitutional around the neighborhood later, maybe, but that would be it for the rest of the day. After the walk this morning, I prepped some spareribs. Major accomplishment. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. Warm this morning, 38*. High 40s later. Then the cold comes, including one day when it is going to hit zero. I will have to let the hot water in the shower drip. I am thinking of going to the Cathedral this morning for church. Being yesterday was a holy day, it is going to be celebrated today. It is optional so it is a game time decision. I like optional. And the Cathedral is impersonal. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. I awoke to 11* with a -6* windchill. The wind has been horrendous all day yesterday and all night. The winds exceeded the wind on Jupiter which can be 900 mph. I also caught a cold. I did go out in the darkness to discreetly dispose of some garbage and to throw the water out. I have decided to cancel the day. I have not had a day off since last December I believe. I am ready for spring. Ergo, I am done doing anything today. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. A balmy 25* this morning heading for 35* later. There is a wind advisory, and some snow for later, hopefully not much. It was a good walk this morning although a late start for me. I am an hour behind. It prohibited my walking on the road without the inconvenience of traffic. This is the anniversary of the incident of this walker eating concrete and having to go to the walk-in clinic. I am planning on going to church in about an hour unless the Earth crashes into the sun, and even then, I should have an 8 minute warning, unlike the NFL with the 2 minute warning. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. It was 17* on the walk. Heading to a balmy 26* for a high later. I am not expecting much from the sun today. On the walk this morning, I did experience some slippery spots. And the snow was hiding a couple of holes but I escaped unscathed. I shall be sequestering myself in my FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE today unless ambition takes me out for a constitutional in the neighborhood to make certain all is good. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. Another cool one this morning though it is going to warm to 27* later. I am planning on sequestration for the rest of the day. Have a so-so day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Good morning. 9* with a chill of -3*. Good news is we are heading to 23* later. I am pondering going to Walmart when they open. They don't open until 6 so I lie here in limbo thinking of the choices in life. Start of Advent today so it will be getting busier in the stores. Have a reasonable day and stay warm. Ciao for now and watch your wallet! I am still cold from the walk.
Good morning. It is 15* as of this typing. Heading to 20* later. Fortitude was the word this morning on the walk. 1* chill, and it felt like it with the wind. A couple of times I felt like turning around and returning to the fortress. Church later. Nothing else planned. I hope your Black Friday shopping went well. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!

Good morning. Happy Black Friday. People are not as excited as in the past when some people at Best Buy would be in a tent 3 or 4 days before the event on the sidewalk. Now people use their computers to shop. The glory is gone. Even now, some stores come out before opening and on a limited quantity, they hand out tickets for the item to the first 25 people, or whatever. The thrill of rushing into the store and engaging in a fist fight or trampling someone is not there. The good old days.......... The walk this morning was cool to say the least. 19* with a chill of 4*F. Tomorrow should be single digits and it is not even winter yet. Brings back the memories of 2017, December, the furnace breaking down and the furnace authorities informing this writer he needs a new one. It still took me almost a year to pull the trigger and have it done. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
Happy Thanksgiving. I trust you recovered from BIG WEDNESDAY. I got an early start on the walk this morning. 2 AM. It was cold even though it was in the 20s. Maybe the moisture, and the wind. It really seemed cold walking north into the wind. I decided to go to Walmart for a piece of ham. As I neared the destination, the store was dark and the parking lot empty. It was closed!!! I thought of going on their website last night to see if they were abandoning all of the customers but time passed and so did the thought. I ended up going to a different store, and instead of getting the ham, I opted for a fresh pork loin filet, dry rubbed with garlic and herb, but it will take 1 hour in the oven. Ordinarily I do not like to do extensive cooking, but so be it. Have a good day. Ciao for now and watch your wallet!
